  • Graphical Interfaces for C#
  • This paper is focused on a pure implementation task rather than in explanation of a general theory or specific graphical algorithms. However, the described solution seems to be interesting and useful to people within a computer graphics community. The reason is simple: there are many people using the OpenGL, Visualization Toolkit [1] (VTK) or DirectX, who want to benefit from .NET Framework features. Simply, it is a runtime environment, which hides the operating system layer to the application and unifies single machine and network environments into one (see [2]). Later, we will describe what a .NET Framework stands for in more detail. The .NET Framework seemed to be very interesting for people from the area of computer graphics that we decided to implement some of the well-known graphical interfaces in it. The VTK, OpenGL and DirectX have been taken into account. These interfaces are widespread and having them prepared in the .NET Framework, it is easy to extend our old working algorithms with new features and functionality. For example, a developer used to write a code for OpenGL can simply continue with a development with it, build it in .NET Framework and easily add whatever other network functionality he wants. We have implemented the VTK, OpenGL and DirectX interfaces for use within the .NET Framework. It fulfills well our objectives given at the early beginning. Now, graphics developers can also work with the fully object oriented programming (OOP) language C#. It allows more inheritance, deriving and polymorphism into the computer graphics. Download pdf
  • Threat Profiling Microsoft SQL Server
  • An attacker's location in the application space and/or the network will largely define how they would approach breaking into a SQL Server 2000 machine from a remote location. If their attacks go through SQL Injection via a web server then their 'cursus incursi' will be considerably different from those when direct access can be gained to the SQL Server. Consequently, this paper will be split into four main sections. The first section will cover attacks that do not require the attacker to have a user ID and password for the SQL Server, that is, the attacks are unauthenticated. The second section will cover those attacks that do require authentication; to succeed the user must be logged onto the SQL Server. The third section will consider those attacks that can be launched from a compromised server. Before any job is undertaken, be it grouting the shower or paving a patio, a lot of unnecessary grief can be avoided by getting the right tools before hand and attacking a computer system is no different. As far as compromising a Microsoft SQL Server is concerned the 'tools of the trade' are a combination of the SQL Server client tools, such as Query Analyzer, SQLPing and a C compiler. One of the most important tools is a copy of MS SQL Server itself. It's far better to examine vulnerability and code an exploit for it on a system in the lab, rather than experimenting on the live target system. Whilst SQL Server is generally good

Manager Program Manager program offer the following functions. - disk formatting - security enabling - change password I-1 Plug in the Flash Drive I-2 From the provided CD-ROM, click the Startup.exe file The Startup Menu dialog box will be appeared. After selecting the appropriate language, the Manager dialog box will then appeared. I-3 DISK FROMATTING For the first time to use Flash Drive, it is highly recommend to do the disk formatting. Just click the Quick or Full format on FORMAT OPTION. Then press the FORMAT button and it will automatically carry on the low level disk formatting. I-4 SECURITY In order enable the disk security function, the ihUsing Passwordlg option should be clicked on Password Option. Press irOKls and then unplug the Instant Drive. Then you have to unplug the disk for the password feature to function. The password will be effective when your Flash Drive is plugged in again. Once the Security function is turn on, the following folder view will appear whenever the Flash Drive is plugged in. [the view varies depending on the OS] Only the PassMan.exe will be shown and accessible. User needs to execute the PassMan.exe program to access the flash drive. The user will prompt to key in password. The default password is is0000ld. Download pdf Flash Drive Mass Storage Disk SKU 307575 User Manual
  • Tutorial on Threads Programming with Python
  • Threads play a major role in applications programming today. For example, most Web servers are threaded, as are many Java GUI programs. Here are the major settings in which using threads has been founded convenient and/or efficient: • Programs with asynchronous events: Here the program must be ready for various events, but does not know the order in which they might occur. For example, in Sections 3.1 and 3.2, we have a network server connected to several clients. The server does not know from which client the next message will arrive. So, we have the server create a separate thread for each client, with each thread handling only its client. • Programs whose peformance can be improved through latency hiding: Here the program is doing multiple I/O operations, each having long latency, i.e. delay in response. We’d like to perform useful work while waiting for the response, so we have different threads for each I/O action. This way, although the latency is still there, it is “hidden” by doing other useful work in parallel. For example, in Section 4.2, each thread performs a separate network operation. • Computation-intensive programs: If our program is a long-running mathematical computation, it can really benefit from having several processors, e.g. two processors in the case of dual-core machines. By having our program set up a different thread for each processor, we have the potential for substantial speedup, due to the parallelization of the computation. An example is in Section 5. What Are Threads? Processes If your knowledge of operating systems is rather sketchy, you
  • Pro Web 2.0 Application Development with GWT Excerpt
  • When I quit my day job in the summer of 2006 to bring an idea of mine to life as an Internet startup, I was faced with a huge number of questions and not a lot of clear answers. The excitement of starting a new project was soon tempered by the difficulty of choosing among the dizzying array of possible technical platforms and solutions. While the shelves were full of books focusing on each of the components of a web application, what I really wanted was a look at how all the pieces fit together. Too often, I found books that seemed like annotated versions of Javadocs, with helpful explanatory notes that setEnabled(boolean enabled) would set the enabled flag. At the other end of the spectrum were abstract architectural tracts that might have made for good reading but certainly didn’t give me a head start on the architecture. I wanted to see how these technologies worked when used for nontrivial applications; I wanted to see ugly problems and their solutions—I wanted a look at the source code of a modern web application. For those of us who learned HTML and JavaScript by using the View Source option, there’s nothing like getting your hands on working source code. So I had an idea: what if I created a company, a real, functional company, with a modern web site and then gave you the keys to the castle to go poke around? That’s the goal of this book, to give you the tour of

  • Introduction to the Controller Area Network (CAN) PDF Manual
  • A controller area network (CAN) is ideally suited to the many high-level industrial protocols embracing CAN and ISO 11898 as their physical layer. Its cost, performance, and upgradeability provide for tremendous flexibility in system design. This paper presents a brief introduction to the CAN operating principles, the implementation of a basic CAN bus using Texas Instrument’s CAN transceivers and DSPs, and a discussion of the robust error detection and fault confinement mechanisms. Some of the properties of CAN, especially relating to the electrical layer and features of transceiver products, are then discussed at a tutorial level.
