Hot Pursuit 2 draws primarily from the gameplay and style of Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit; its emphasis was on evading the police and over-the-top tracks featuring lengthy shortcuts. Even though the game allowed players to play as the police, the pursuit mode was drastically less realistic than preceding versions of NFS, as players merely needed to “tap” a speeder a certain number of times to arrest them, as opposed to using actual police tactics, such as spinning the offending driver, as well as utilizing spike strips to immobilize a speeding vehicle (as in real life).
In the Championship and Hot Pursuit modes, you’ll earn extra points if you get a medal, decided by the requirements. For example, a sprint (see section below) would give you 5000 points if you get the gold, 4000 for silver, and 2500 for bronze, etc. Points would give you types of tracks to race on, cars, police cars, etc.. For the future success of web development and delivery of services, enterprises must focus on simplified integration with existing IT assets to improve overall interoperability while keeping total cost of ownership low. This focus on leveraging the current technical assets and developer resources drives savings and extends the value locked up in core legacy transaction systems.
One of the barriers that companies face in moving their legacy assets into their web-based development initiatives is the expense associated with migrating applications. The first step, then,is to evaluate options so that they can make a sound business decision. This white paper outlines the options available on the market and discusses a new solution — Fujitsu Software’s NetCOBOL for .NET — and its approach to moving COBOL assets over to Microsoft’s .NET platform.

You both have Ethernet jacks, but there’s no net- work available to you. You both have wireless cards, but transmitter/receivers are a no-no aboard airliners. She has a floppy drive, but your iBook has never heard of these floppy things. You have a USB drive, but the file’s mas- sive. And you’re fresh out of CDs, or you’d simply burn one and pass it across. Oh, and she’s running Windows. If you have an Ethernet cable handy, you can plug one end into the Ethernet jack of each of your machines, open your System Preferences Network pane, and select Built-in Ethernet from the Show pull-down menu.
If at least one of the computers is a Macintosh of recent vin- tage (PowerBook G4, iMac 17”, or iBook, at the time of this writing), you don’t even need one of those special crossover Ethernet cables. Refer to the consummate list at http://docs. info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42717.

This external cable modem is one part of a comprehensive communications system that utilizes the cable television network to deliver high-speed data to your computer. Data is requested and sent over the cable television network at burst rates of up to 38 megabits per second (Mbps)*. This chapter explains how to prepare your computer system for cable modem installation.
* Actual speeds will vary depending on computer hardware, applications, service offered by your cable service provider, and network traffic.
Cable Modem Features
- Cable line bandwidth allows user data rates of up to 38 megabits per second (Mbps)*, faster than 56K analog modems, ISDN, or ADSL.
- Two-way design means that the cable modem both sends and receives data over the cable line.
- Plug-and-play USB operation ensures easy setup and installation.
- DOCSIS-compliance ensures interoperability with cable suppliers.
- 3Com’s extensive technical support organization provides you with the quick answers you need to get up and running.
* NOTE: Please note that the following factors affect the speeds you may experience: (1) your computer equipment and configuration, including the speed of your processor, the amount of RAM on your system, and your available

C#, .NET, and Microsoft SQL Server. We’ll develop a command line database application to manage contacts. General ideas apply to the GUI oriented version—in fact, that’s the homework: To create a GUI version of this thing.
For this whole scheme to work, you need a few tools. These include:
• .NET Framework SDK
• Microsoft SQL Server
The .NET Framework SDK is a free download from the Microsoft website. You go to the Microsoft website, click on download, select “.NET” then search—then pick and download the 100MB (or so) .NET Framework SDK 1.1 package. The SQL Server is a bit of a different matter. Apparently Microsoft (in all their wisdom) wishes to make it relatively difficult for developers to get a copy of their server—so they’re selling it for $49.99 : http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/development.asp There is a way around buying SQL Server: Use the school provided server. Another possible way around is to download the “Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000)”, which is really just SQL Server, except without any tools. (ie: like MySQL server without the useful ‘mysql’ program to interact with the database). There are many ‘Query’ programs online to use instead, like “SqlBuddy” (search sourceforge.net for it). Next week we’ll use Oracle—which is just a free download.

In addition we will manually partition your file system. We will still create the same file system as you would get with an automated install, but in the real world you may need to understand how to create your own file system layout. After the Initial Install We will install the Ubuntu Desktop meta package (Gnome 2.18 and Xorg) as well as properly configure this to work with your particular hardware by installing the xserverxorgvideo intel package.
Before we do this we’ll do a number of other exercises as well. You will specify a user name and password of your choosing. One of the exercises will include creating a user named “admin” and a password we’ll specify in class. If you have questions during installation ask your instructor or an assistant. Installing Ubuntu Step 7 If you can press “Cancel” in time please do so, otherwise see the screen in Step 8 and choose to “Go Back” to manually configure your network. Step 14 The hostname is what you should have on your first page of this installation guide. And, remember to use lowercase characters. Step 16 Your machines likely already have partitions on them. If this is the case you need to delete each individual partition first, then you can create partitions. In this workshop, we will practice using the tools for tracking changes within a document, highlighting text, and adding comments.
At the end of this document are instructions for using the more advanced annotation features, comparing two documents and merging changes from two documents into a single document. Feel free to practice using those tools on your own time with the exercises provided.
Before using the more advanced annotation features of Word, take some time to familiarize yourself with the workspace. As with many software programs, you can customize the workspace view with the tools you use most often. For the purposes of this workshop, we will review the location and purpose of the commonly used tools.
