  • Sculptor Archetype Tutorial
  • In this tutorial we will create a simple Java EE application from scratch using the Maven archetypes provided by Sculptor. It consists of the following projects: • sculptor-helloworld-parent - Only a maven project for building the other parts. • sculptor-helloworld - Business tier. EJB project containing the services and domain objects. • sculptor-helloworld-web - Presentation tier. Web application with CRUD GUI. • sculptor-helloworld-ear - EAR package of the deployable application. Setup maven projects We start with creating a script that calls the 4 maven archetypes to generate the project structures and maven build files. It also does an inital build and generation of Eclipse project with the maven eclipse plugin. Of course you can execute these commands one by one from the command prompt, but the script is useful when doing this several times. Copy the following script to sculptor-archetypes.cmd, located in the root of your Eclipse workspace. Adjust paths to your environment. set MVN_HOME=C:devtoolsMaven-2.0.6 set JAVA_HOME=C:devtoolsJdk-1.5.0_12 set path=%MVN_HOME%bin;%JAVA_HOME%bin Download pdf Sculptor Archetype Tutorial
  • Removing glass from Marea Headlight
  • Do not attempt this if you are inpatient, or you will end up breaking the glass and maybe hurting yourself. I realise on the above pic it says Brava on the headlight but it is off a Marea. Time required: 50 minutes Tools required: 3 flat bladed screwdrivers, large, small and another in between. Best option would be a hot air gun, or a powerful hairdryer would work but will probably take longer. Now heat the bonding with your hot air gun. I started from the right, Heat from about where the clip was and work your way right and down the side, don’t keep the gun in the same place for too long as you will melt the plastic. Once you feel the bonding is soft enough take your small screwdriver and scratch out all the softened bonding, don’t worry if it sticks to the glass it will come off easy later with a little rub. It dries and goes hard quite quickly so repeat the above till you have removed most of the bond. Now from where the clip was work your way left across the top heating and scratching all the bond out just like your did previously, but do take your time, don’t rush anything. Once you have removed most of the bond from the top and both sides, place your middle size screwdriver in the gap (again where about that clip was), and try to lever the glass away, but be gentle. If you don’t see the glass move at
  • How to Use Social Software in Higher Education
  • The fact that you are reading this handbook probably means that you are experienced in e-Learning implementation at a university or similar institution. You will probably be aware of the tools and styles of working on LMS, and will be used to communicating whilst working and learning online. But at the same time, by surfing the net and probably by observing your students, you will clearly see that changes are coming. Freely available new technologies, common access to the Internet and to information, new types of social interactions mediated by technology; all of these things require a shift in the way that we learn and teach. e-Learning using new technologies is an innovative learning method. During recent years, ‘innovation’ has become a real buzz word. Many companies have revolutionized their products or business models. In education literature, you can find many case studies and best practices on how to modernize teaching and learning process. But before taking action, we should try to understand innovation in the context of technology-enhanced learning. What is new and what is now outdated? We can understand all this as technology, but also as new ways to communicate, work and learn. Within this handbook we think of innovation as technology, adapted for new learning purposes. The term ‘Web 2.0’ was coined by O’Reilly (2005) as a common denominator for recent trends heading towards the ‘Read-Write Web’, allowing everyone to publish resources on the web using simple and open, personal and collaborative publishing tools, known as social software: blogs,

  • Crawling Ajax-driven Web 2.0 Applications
  • Crawling web applications is one of the key phases of automated web application scanning. The objective of crawling is to collect all possible resources from the server in order to automate vulnerability detection on each of these resources. A resource that is overlooked during this discovery phase can mean a failure to detect some vulnerabilities. The introduction of Ajax throws up new challenges [1] for the crawling engine. New ways of handling the crawling process are required as a result of these challenges. The objective of this paper is to use a practical approach to address this issue using rbNarcissus, Watir and Ruby. Usually crawling engines are “protocol-driven” and open a socket connection on the target host or IP address and port. Once a connection is in place the crawler sends HTTP requests and tries to interpret responses. All these responses are parsed and resources are collected for future access. The resource parsing process is crucial and the crawler tries to collect possible sets of resources by fetching links, scripts, flash components and other significant data. The “protocol-driven” approach does not work when the crawler comes across an Ajax embedded page. This is because all target resources are part of JavaScript code and are embedded in the DOM context. It is important to both understand and trigger this DOM-based activity. In the process, this has lead to another approach called “event-driven” crawling. It has following three key components 1. Javascript analysis and interpretation with linking to Ajax 2. DOM event handling and dispatching 3. Dynamic
  • A Web-Based Antibody Database
  • Substances foreign to the body, such as disease-causing bacteria and viruses and other infectious agents, are known as antigens. They are generally of high molecular weight and are commonly proteins or polysaccharides. Our natural defenses against these infectious agents are antibodies, which are proteins that seek out the antigens and help destroy them. There is a significant number of anybodies (in the range of hundreds of thousands) that are developed and used by today’s research community. Research groups and labs generally depend on their own sources of antibodies necessary for their research, and keep the antibody information according to their needs. The antibody information is stored using different data formats, and the search for the correct antibody is sometimes impossible. We would like to propose a web based database solution to this problem, by creating a database framework that can be easily used by any research group or a lab. The type of information to be stored in the database will follow after a short overview of the role of antibodies and their general properties. Antibodies (or immunoglobulins) can be regarded as universal adapter molecules (Sirch and Lenmox, 1995). They have two very useful characteristics: 1. Each antibody binds to and attacks only one particular antigen. 2. Some antibodies, once activated by the occurence of a disease, continue to confer resistance against that disease. Classic examples are the antibodies to the childhood diseases: chickenpox and measles. Download pdf A Web-Based Antibody Database

  • The aim of this document is to show you how to make the best use of some of the facilities in Microsoft Excel and, in particular, to save you time when using it. Be aware that we have several other documents on using Excel, including A Beginners' Guide, An Intermediate Guide, plus a host of advanced topics. Starting Microsoft Excel and Opening Files Launching Excel via the Start menu and All Programs isn't the most efficient way of doing things; it's much easier to do so from an icon on the Desktop: 1. Open the Windows Start menu and choose All Programs then Microsoft Office 2. Instead of clicking on Microsoft Office Excel 2003, hold the right mouse button down and drag Excel from the Microsoft Office menu onto the Desktop - choose Copy Here 3. Now (and in future) double click on the Microsoft Excel icon to launch the software You can also place shortcuts to files you are currently working on the Desktop in a similar way - this time (when you drag the file icons from My Documents using the right mouse button) choose Create Shortcuts Here from the pop-up menu. When you have finished working on a file then you can the shortcut (leaving the file itself safe in My Documents). Another feature which makes opening a file easier is to alter the number of documents which feature in the list of recently used files (the list which appears at the foot of the File menu):.. • Creating a 3D immersive environment in Maya
  • The following tutorial will take you step by step through the creation of a natural environment in Maya. You will also setup a character inside the environment and to add interactivity in Virtools. This tutorial introduces you to Maya’s 3D Paint Effects allowing you to paint in 3D. A few strokes can paint trees, grass, flowers. The paint strokes from your brush are converted into 3D objects inside a 3D space. Maya’s ability to convert 3D Paint Effects to polygonal objects is helpful to create content for interactive environments. This tutorial requires Maya 5.0 and up. You can control the strokes’ shape, color, density, while painting on the horizontal grid plane of the perspective view or directly on other 3D objects. Let’s grab a brush and start to paint trees and grass in 3D, let’s create the ground for your forest. 3.1 - Creating the ground Open a new scene in Maya. Go to the top menu, select, “File” > “New Scene”. Select the “Modeling” module in the box located on the left of the “Status Line”. Create a polygonal plane for the floor of your scene.
