But before launching into the vast possibilities, let’s start with the basic foundation. The good news is that ActionScript commands follow a well- defined pattern, sharing similar syntax, structure, and concepts. Mastering the fun-damental grammar puts you well on the way to mastering ActionScript. This chapter addresses the frequent tasks and problems that relate to core Action- Script knowledge.
Whether you are a beginner or master—or somewhere in between—these recipes help you handle situations that arise in every ActionScript project. This book assumes that you have obtained a copy of Flex Builder 2 and have success-fully installed it on your computer. DownloadPropertyGrid for SilverlightComponentOne PropertyGrid™ for Silverlight is a Silverlight version of the popular PropertyGrid control that ships as part of the .NET WinForms platform. Using ComponentOne PropertyGrid™ for Silverlight, users can browse and edit properties on any .NET object. The C1PropertyGrid control is part of the C1.Silverlight.Extended assembly.
Introduction to the C1PropertyGrid Control
Like the original PropertyGrid control, the C1PropertyGrid control works based on a SelectedObject property.
Once this property is set, the control displays the object's public properties and allows the user to edit them.
For example, assuming you have a simple Customer class defined as follows:
public class Customer
{
public string Name { get; set; }
public string EMail { get; set; }
public string Address { get; set; }
public DateTime CustomerSince { get; set; }
public bool SendNewsletter { get; set; }
public int? PointBalance { get; set; }
}
You could build a user interface to display and edit customers using the following code:
public Page()
{
InitializeComponent();
// Create object to browse
var customer = new Customer();
// Create C1PropertyGrid
var pg = new C1PropertyGrid();
LayoutRoot.Children.Add(pg);
// Show customer properties
pg.SelectedObject = customer;
}
2 · Introduction to the C1PropertyGrid Control
And the resulting application would look like this:
This simple UI allows users to edit all the properties in our Customer objects. It was built automatically based on the object’s properties and will be automatically updated if you add or modify the properties in the Customer class. Note that the C1PropertyGrid only displays properties of value type and strings. It does not display properties that contain objects with other properties.
Notice that properties are shown in alphabetical order by default. You can change5 Ways Businesses can benefit from Web 2.0Whether we like it or not the technology and culture of Web 2.0 is something all businesses should take note of – but as usual businesses are left trying to work out how it all affects them. To offer some guidance through simple explanation of the technology and 5 Ideas where real issues can be addressed, this white paper goes some way towards clearing the way for businesses to work with Web 2.0.
The aim is not to blindly evangelise and urge everyone to become involved – rather to help our clients align Web 2.0 with their business strategy in an appropriate and realistic fashion.
What is Web 2.0?
Sceptics may see Web 2.0 as nothing more than a game of buzzword bingo. So rather than trying to defining Web 2.0, let’s talk about the companies and websites that are causing the buzz.
The most talked about aspect of Web 2.0 is social networking and the most talked about social networking site is MySpace – so much so that the predominantly youthful users have become known as the MySpace Generation. MySpace recently had more page views than Yahoo!, Google and MSN. No one can argue with its influence. So how does MySpace work? Users begin by creating a public profile. They can embellish their basic details with photos, music, videos and thoughts for the day. Users then begin building their network of friends. These friends can be people they know, or stars from TV, radio and the movies.
