  • Troubleshooting csUnit Addin for Visual Studio
  • This document outlines steps for troubleshooting the csUnit Addin for Visual Studio (csUnit4VS2005). You need administrative rights for some of the steps, e.g. write access to the registry. In Windows Vista you may need to confirm certain actions due to the User Account Control (UAC). Applicable Platforms – Visual Studio 2005 on Windows XP – Visual Studio 2005 on Windows Vista Procedure 1. Close all instances of Visual Studio regardless of version. Use task manager to verify that no instance of devenv.exe is running. 2. Uninstall all csUnit versions. 3. Using regedit, navigate to HKLM SoftwareMicrosoft.NETFrameworkAssemblyFolders. Ensure that no entry exists for csUnit. Remove if necessary. 4. With regedit open, navigate to HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftVisualStudio8.0AutomationOptionsLookInFolders and verify that it does not contain a value for csUnit. The exact name of that entry depends on your operating system and what installation folder you have chosen during setup. An example looks like this: C:Program Filescsunit.orgcsUnit 2.2.0 If necessary remove the value. Download pdf Troubleshooting csUnit Addin for Visual Studio
  • Writing Applications Using PHP
  • Many developers have learned to use PHP over the years because it’s a good solution for creat- ing Web pages and the price is right. The PHP acronym is like many other new acronyms for the Internet—the acronym is recursive (refers back to itself). PHP stands for PHP Hypertext Processor. This general-purpose HTML scripting language works much like ASP (see Chapter 6) or other page description languages you might have used. Essentially, you mix HTML with scripting information. When the PHP process sees HTML, it sends the text directly to the user. It processes any scripting information, and passes the resulting HTML to the user as well. This chapter helps you discover how PHP works with Amazon Web Services. I’m assuming that you already know something about PHP, but the first two sections provide some suggestions on how to learn more about PHP. Because PHP runs on so many platforms, you’ll also find some suggested resources for getting and installing PHP for your particular server. These instructions might require a little technical knowledge on your part, so make sure you understand what the instructions require before you perform them. The examples in this chapter show how to use PHP to create an Amazon Web Services application. The first example provides simple instructions for accessing the Web service without any fancy application features. You’ll also find an application that shows how to use PHP with MySQL, an open source database. In fact, you can download every piece of software in this chapter free

  • Web 2.0 and learning
  • What is surprising is the dominance of Web and Web 2.0 brands. The verb ‘to google’ is now in most major English dictionaries and Google is easily the most popular access point for Web 2.0 services. It also displays all the characteristics of a Web 2.0 company by, for example, buying blogger.com, one of the largest blog services companies in the world. User-driven blogging is one of the primary examples of Web 2.0 services. Google also supports a raft of easy to use Web 2.0 tools such as Google Earth, Google Calendar, Google Sketch, Writely and so on. Apple has transformed itself into a Web 2.0 company by changing focus away from computers to iPods, iTunes and iPhones. It fuelled podcasting, a major feature of Web 2.0 user-driven content, with the astoundingly popular iPod and iTunes. Podcasting is typical of a bottom-up Web 2.0 phenomenon. The distribution of simple audio files has proved to be an enduring feature of easy to create content. It has also transformed the music industry turning its traditional offline media model on its head. YouTube is as Web 2.0 as it gets. Users upload and share videos in their millions. Each video has a discussion forum and content can be used in blogs and other contexts. Started in 2005 and bought by our brand leader Google for $1.65 billion in 2006. • Parallelism/Concurrency Specification Within UML
  • The concurrency is an important issue to tackle when modelling real-time applications which are intrinsically concurrent. According to the definitions of real-time given in (CNRS 1988) and (Stankovic 88), real-time implies on one hand that the response are waited at a precise moment (neither before nor after) and on other hand, that such systems are coupled with the real world, therefore highly concurrent. This document overviews the support for concurrency modelling provided by UML. It describes first the main concept of active object and second a (non exhaustive) list of issues pertaining to concurrency mechanism interactions. The integration of concurrency issues within object-oriented environments generated a large amount of research. In the case of object-oriented languages, most concurrency issues are related to the concept of active object (Atkinson 91), (Guerraoui 95) et (Tripathi, Oosten et al. 99). Concrete examples of concurrent object oriented languages are Act++ , Hybrid (Nierstratz 1987), ABCL (Yonezawa, Shibayama et al. 87), Argus (Liskov 1988), PRAL RT (Fouquier and Terrier 95), RTGOL (Sourrouille and Lecoeuche 95), TOM , etc. Download Parallelism/Concurrency Specification Within UML
  • Silverlight 2 Beta 2 Tutorial - Introducing Expression Blend For Silverlight Developers
  • Beginning with version 2.5 (currently in Preview Edition) building Silverlight 2 applications, and especially assembling the User Interface components such as items from the toolbox, and layout controls, is easier than ever. A Note on This Tutorial. The history of the material for this tutorial is that Scott Guthrie wrote a terrific introduction to this material at the end of February, which he gave me permission to turn into a series of videos, currently (or soon to be) available on Silverlight.NET. This tutorial completes the circle by building on the videos and integrating the material into the Silverlight Tutorial series. The project we’re setting out to build is very similar to the Silverlight chat service built by ScottGu, and is shown in Figure 5-1 The Solution Files Take a look in the upper right hand corner. The solution, project and other files created by Blend are identical to the files created by Visual Studio 2008. In fact; there is no exporting/importing between the two; you can open both development environments on the same files simultaneously and they will both work perfectly. Chat Application – First Steps Begin by switching to design view, and then hold the control key and use the mouse wheel to zoom out so that you can see the entire grid. If your mouse doesn’t have a wheel, you can zoom by picking a value (or filling in an arbitrary value) at the bottom of the design window or by using the menu choices View?Zoom In and View?Zoom Out You can move
