This how-to describes the installation of ZendPlatform on your XAMPP machine. ZendPlatform is very useful for debugging and profiling your code. By the way, it’s free for development purposes.
Step 1 : You have to install XAMPP on your windows machine. In all further steps I
assume that XAMPP is installed in the default directory: c:\program files\xampp
Step 2 : Install the latest Java runtime (JRE) http://www.sun.com

Setting Options, and customizing the Drawing toolbar.
Under Tools, Options (Alt-t o), set the following:
“View” tab: Print and Web Layout Options—check Drawings and Object Anchors
“General” tab: If you are using Office XP, UNcheck “Automatically create Drawing Canvas when inserting AutoShapes”
(The Drawing Canvas is a new feature in Word 2002, designed to make it easy to create a complex shape. I have yet to discover any value to it, and find it to be simply a nuisance.)
“Edit” tab: Check “Enable click and type”. This may be useful when you are working with a drawing, since it allows you to position text in relation to the drawing without hitting the Enter key repeatedly.
If you are using Word 2002, I recommend unchecking “Show Paste Option Buttons”. These buttons get in the way, and even sneak there way into my web documents!

There is normally no need to manually create and configure the IsoXpressData share. The share is created on the server by the ISOXpress Server Utility application. The only time you must be able to manually create and configure the share is when you have a none-windows server (for example Linux Red Hat). Knowing how to configure the IsoXpressData share manually will be also helpful when troubleshooting the server connection, and for quick configuration when you are temporarily moving the IsoXpressData folder to another computer.

Google Chrome is out, brand new and shiny, and with its launch a new set of standards for all web browsers is implemented for both end users and developers. At this moment the Internet is flooded with details and info on Google’s newest and hottest application designed to link the user to the pool of information on the web. Unlike successful browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Opera and even Internet Explorer, Google’s approach in building Chrome differs in that the app is built from scratch without giving in to formalities (that is why, at first use, most users will waste time looking for the menu bar). The program seems as if all the features were added as soon as the tester needed them. None of its features are unnecessary or redundant in terms of access.

A Web server has different partition requirements than a desktop or a file server. For a machine with 26 GB of hard disk space, spread out over two drives, here’s one possible configuration. Boot is always 100 MB, unless you’re so pressed for disk space that you need to reduce it further. /var/www is where Web server files go, so you’ll want a lot of room there. Swap is usually twice the amount of RAM.
hda (12 GB)
- boot 100 MB
- /var/www 11,000 MB
- swap 500 (assuming 256 MB of RAM)
