Isometric drawing is essential to the engineering filed. Through the isometric drawing, it is easier to imagine how a part or a drawing would look like. Some isometric drawing has no details such as dimension and annotation. This type of isometric drawing is usually accompanied by orthographic drawings with complete detail and annotation.

How to start AutoCad
Click on the AutoCad icon. It will open a blank drawing file and a dialog box called ‘AutoCad Today’. Close the AutoCad Today’ and start working in the drawing file. In AutoCad, you do not have to specify the units of length. It works in relative units. Hence, you can draw with dimensions in any units (m, cm, mm, micron, inch etc.). Just make sure that all your dimensions have been consistently converted in that unit.

With automatic dimensioning, you can create multiple dimensions with minimal input, resulting in instant groups of ordinate, parallel, or symmetric items that are appropriately spaced. Smart dimensioning tools force overlapping dimensions to automatically space themselves appropriately while integrating tolerance and fit list information into the drawing. Inspection dimensions enable you to specify testing criteria. Read on to learn more about how you can use Power Dimension to quickly change, edit, or delete dimensions and spend your time innovating rather than managing workflow issues. It’s much more enjoyable.

This drawing is ready to use in AUTO-CODE. The part is positioned so that the lower left corner of the rectangle is at 1,1. The contours are drawn as polylines and the drill holes are drawn as circles. All the layers for dimensions and notes can be turned off to reduce the clutter or they may remain on while AUTO-CODE is running. For this tutorial we will be turning them off. In AutoCAD, select the layer control list and freeze the layers that are not used for programming the part.

Learning to use a CAD system is similar to learning a new language. We need to begin with the basic alphabet and learn how to use the basic alphabet correctly and effectively through practice. This will require learning some new concepts and skills as well as learning a different vocabulary. All CAD systems create designs using basic geometric entities. Most of the constructions used in technical designs are based upon two-dimensional planar geometry. The method and number of operations that are required to accomplish the construction are different from one system to another.

Using the Laser interface, this tutorial will step you through how to run AUTO-CODE in AutoCAD. This tutorial introduces subroutine programming and automatic leaders. The drawing is all set to be used in AUTO-CODE. The part is positioned so that the lower left corner of the drawing is at the zero point. The parts are shifted one-half inch in from the edges of the material. The inside cuts are drawn as closed polylines. The layer for dimensions can be turned off to reduce the clutter.
