In this paper we present experiences with the .NET Framework and Visual Studio.NET which we won in two big projects. Thereby we give hints for the practical use in .NET projects.
We designed and implemented two systems:
• A database maintenance system for the internet risk assessor “MIRA” for the Munich Re. Up to 10 developers were included and the project had a size of 8 man years.
• The core application of the real estate investment company Real I.S. of the Bayerische Landesbank Group. The system was build by a team of up to 14 developers in 20 man years.

The Flexible Image Transport System (FITS) is a powerful and widely adopted means of exchanging Astronomical Data. There are also a great number of tools and libraries available on many platforms to facilitate working with FITS. We present the FitsLib 1, A library written to facilitate development of astronomical data analysis tools on the Microsoft.Net Platform. This has been developed as a wrapper over one of the very popular and time tested FITS libraries, CFITSIO. Fits.Net library merges the advantages of speed and ruggedness of CFITSIO with the language independence of the Microsoft.Net technology and a simple Document Object Model (DOM). We believe this library will be intuitive for .NET programmers. We present the design and usage patterns of the library in C-Sharp. We also discuss performance issues of the library. Finally we present a number of applications and web services, which are currently running on this library.

All SimBLOX simulation products employ an agent-based or object-oriented architecture. This allows the user to create very large, complex, macro-level simulation models by connecting together many smaller, easily understandable, micro-level “building block” models. In this simple tutorial, we will show you how to use the Water Resource Planning SimBRIX.

Silverlight is Microsoft’s cross-browser, cross-platform browser plug-in that allows the creation of interactive web applications that employ high quality streaming media, vector graphics, images, and animation. Deployed as a plug-in for the major browsers on the Windows, Mac and Linux (supported by Novell) operating systems, web developers can craft interactive applications that have an identical user experience on the vast majority of web browsers deployed today. Silverlight addresses a disconnect that exists today in web development workflow where the design intent of graphics designers and interaction designers cannot be faithfully communicated to and crafted by the web developers. In Silverlight, this intent is created in design tools like Expression Design and Expression Blend and passed off to web developers in XML-based XAML data files. The fidelity of the designers’ ideas is kept as there is a clear separation between the design in XAML and the code in JavaScript.

This class explores the various techniques in creating 2D part and assembly drawings from 3D AutoCAD models. As part of the AutoCAD 3D Power Track, you will learn best practices for creating drawings from your 3D models. While notalways required, it is still necessaryto generate drawings for an object to be built. Using the tools and methods presented in this class, you will learn to quickly and efficiently create those drawings.

There are many Sun Microsystems technologies that use Ajax [Ajax], and more than one way to use Ajax on mobile platforms. For example, applications written using the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE, formerly known as J2EE) may generate XML, JSON [JSON], XHTML and/or ECMAScript destined for mobile browsers.

The JavaFX Script programming language lets you create modern looking applications with sophisticated graphical user interfaces. It was designed from the ground up to make GUI programming easy; its declarative syntax, data binding model, animation support, and built-in visual effects let you accomplish more work with less code, resulting in shorter development cycles and increased productivity.

Java Server Faces (JSF) is a MVC (Model View Control) framework for (dynamic) Web-Pages. Facelets is using x-Html pages and Templates to replace JSP (Java Server Pages) for Java Server Faces. It completes the picture and creates a REAL MCV concept (One could use java code within JSP pages). This document tries to explain how JSF with Facelets works, and give a few short directions on how to get it to work. It will also cover how Web 2.0 can be used, and what this means for SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). All Example-Code within this document is taken from the SVG-Paint Project.
