  • Guide to Eos and Unity Computing for UNIX,Windows, and Linux
  • Guide to Eos and Unity Computing, 2007-08 Edition for UNIX, Windows, and Linux is the principal user manual for the distributed academic computing environment at North Carolina State University. Formerly a College of Engineering system only, Eos was made available to other NCSU colleges in 1996 in a project called Unity. Today, all NCSU students, faculty, and staff receive accounts on a fully merged campus-wide system, or realm, often referred to as Eos/Unity. The system's continuing expansion has required a new release of this guide annually. The guide was first written in 1991 as Eos: An Introduction. Two releases of Guide to the Eos Computing Environment followed in 1993 and 1994. In 1996, Eos and Unity were written about together for the first time in Guide to Eos and Unity Computing, followed by the 1997 edition. The all-UNIX environment changed with the inclusion of a Microsoft Windows platform, which was introduced in Guide to Eos and Unity Computing: 1998-99 Edition for UNIX and NT, followed by the 1999-2000 edition. Guide to Eos and Unity Computing: 2000-01 Edition for UNIX, NT, and Linux introduced the Red Hat Linux platform, which further diversified Eos/Unity. The Windows 2000 platform replaced NT in Guide to Eos and Unity Computing: 2001-02 Edition for UNIX, Windows, and Linux, and the 2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06 (for Windows XP), and 2006-07 editions followed. The current guide, Guide to Eos and Unity Computing: 2007-08 Edition for UNIX, Windows, and Linux, is written in collaboration with staff from the College of Engineering’s
  • Managing Multi-language and Multi-platform Microsoft Visual Studio Builds With OpenMake Meister
  • With each new major release of Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft changes the languages and methodologies for building executables from the source created within an application. Without the assistance of simplification tools, then, development teams integrating Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 must re-write and redesign significant amounts of their application build processes. But, such an endeavor proves so costly and time-consuming that many enterprises choose to delay or omit upgrades to their development environments. Unfortunately, avoidance will quickly create a situation where new applications are written in the new Visual Studio but without compatibility to the vast amount of programs and systems that were developed in older versions. Opportunity To overcome this development limitation, OpenMake, a CA partner that specializes in Build Management, worked closely with Microsoft on the new Visual Studio 2008 and created a process where Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 code can be easily integrated with code created in the newer release. This unique process bridges the technology gap between the two Microsoft development environments and provides a simple method for programmers to integrate all of their existing applications with new applications written in Visual Studio 2008. And, the technology is so innovative and complete that even developers using MS Visual Studio 97, MS Visual Studio 6.0 and MS Visual Studio .Net 2002 and 2003 can integrate to MS Visual Studio 2008. As such, it allows you to continue to use the large code base already developed in a single integrated environment and with automated and continuous integration

Now (and in future) double click on the Microsoft Excel icon to launch the software You can also place shortcuts to files you are currently working on the Desktop in a similar way - this time (when you drag the file icons from My Documents using the right mouse button) choose Create Shortcuts Here from the pop-up menu. When you have finished working on a file then you can the shortcut (leaving the file itself safe in My Documents). Another feature which makes opening a file easier is to alter the number of documents which feature in the list of recently used files (the list which appears at the foot of the File menu):.. • Introduction to Ajax for Page Authors
  • It's almost impossible today to be involved in web application design or development and not be aware of Ajax, a technology that includes but is not limited to Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. That's because Ajax is currently the primary technique for driving the high responsiveness and interactivity of some of the most popular applications on the web such as Google Maps and Flickr. These applications are representative of a new generation of highly responsive, highly interactive web applications, referred to as Web 2.0 applications, that often involve users collaborating online and sharing content. Ajax has different implications for developers working in different roles. For example, component developers creating custom components for web applications build Ajax functionality into the design. Page authors use these Ajax components, along with widgets, JavaScript technology, and other techniques, to incorporate Ajax functionality into their web applications. Ajax impacts other roles too. For example, enterprise application developers need to add logic in server-side components to handle Ajax-related requests directed to the server. What You Need to Know About Ajax As a page author, you don't need to understand every detail of the Ajax methodology to incorporate it into a web page. However, you should have a general idea of what Ajax is and how it works. As this article mentioned earlier, Ajax enables the high responsiveness of many web applications. For example, a web site such as Google Maps uses Ajax to provide a highly responsive user interface (UI). You can view a map, then move your cursor across

  • Analysis and pattern detection on large amounts using standard SQL
  • The development in automated people tracking technology in the last decade has resulted in applications where large amounts of data can be generated with significantly less manual work than ever before [11, 12, 13]. One of such examples is the computer vision based tracking on sport videos, where, if certain conditions are met, computer tracks athletes with very little user intervention [14]. Such data can be used in performance analysis [10], giving sport community the feedback on player and team performance. Years ago, analysis of sport matches was almost entirely manual, and the ability to gather certain kinds of data (like motion trajectories) was severely limited [7]. Before the introduction of automatic methods into the sports video analysis, every piece of information had to be entered into the computer by hand [3], and therefore manual annotations generated relatively small amounts of data. However, by introducing the computer vision based processing of videos, the amount of data may increase dramatically. Widely used video standards (PAL, NTSC) assume frame rates of 25 or 30 video frames per second, and computer vision based tracking methods usually process each captured video frame for the greatest reliability. Therefore, in case of standard PAL videos, motion data of players is available at intervals of 40 milliseconds, and users have the ability to provide their manual annotations at the same temporal resolution, if they wish to. Computer user interfaces with integrated video players provide automatic synchronization of videos to the user annotations and therefore enable users to enter the
