Screw Thread for Metal Screws Using 3DS Max1. Create a ‘Helix’ spline object from the create panel. Make sure there are plenty of turns in it and that both radii are the same.
2. Add an extrude modifier and adjust the amount so it just about reaches the next coil, get it as close as possible but don’t spend ages doing it as step 4 will sort it out.
3. As you will notice the tube is inside out so add a 'Normals' modifier to flip them and turn it the right way.
4. Now as there is still a gap in-between the coils add a 'Vertex Weld' modifier and increase the value just enough to weld the gap together.
5. Now, add an 'Edit Poly' modifier and go into 'Edge' sub-object mode, then select one edge travelling the length of the tube and hit 'Ring' (Alt+R) to select the entire helix.
6. Click the small grey box next to 'Connect' in the modify panel and give the selection 1 edge segment. You will now have two spirals travelling the length of the tube. (I forgot to do an image of this stage :)
7. Select one edge of one spiral and click 'Loop' (Alt+L) in the modify panel to select the entire spiral. Then click the 'Scale' tool (R) and drag the web connecting the two width axes for the tube (shown in yellow in the image below), this will create your thread depth.

You may be familiar with VMWare or Virtual PC that are used to emulate various operating systems in a virtual environment. These programs allow you to run operating systems such as Windows XP Professional or Ubuntu Linux in a virtual environment on your computer. GNS3 allows the same type of emulation using Cisco Internetwork Operating Systems. It allows you to run a Cisco IOS in a virtual environment on your computer. GNS3 is a graphical front end to a product called Dynagen. Dynamips is the core program that allows IOS emulation. Dynagen runs on top of Dynamips to create a more user friendly, text-based environment. A user may create network topologies using simple Windows ini-type files with Dynagen running on top of Dynamips. GNS3 takes this a step further by providing a graphical environment.
GNS3 allows the emulation of Cisco IOSs on your Windows or Linux based computer. Emulation is possible for a long list of router platforms and PIX firewalls. Using an EtherSwitch card in a router, switching platforms may also be emulated to the degree of the card’s supported functionality. This means that GNS3 is an invaluable tool for preparing for Cisco certifications such as CCNA and CCNP. There are a number of router simulators on the market, but they are limited to the commands that the developer chooses to include. Almost always there are commands or parameters that are not supported when working on a practiceWeb 2.0 applications as alternative environments for informal learning - a critical reviewWhilst a number of methodological and philosophical difficulties surround its definition, ‘informal learning’ is now acknowledged to be a vital element of education for learners of all ages (Colley et al. 2003). Despite the ‘slippery’ nature of the concept (Girod 1990), there is an emerging consensus that the nature of informal learning is more specific than simply being any learning outside of formal education. At one level informal learning is “undertake[n] individually or collectively, on our own without externally imposed criteria or the presence of an institutionally authorised instructor” (Livingstone 2000, p.493). Thus, whereas formal learning is typically institutionally sponsored, classroom based and structured, informal learning “is not typically classroom based or highly structured, and control of learning rests primarily in the hands of the learner” (Marsick & Watkins 1990, p.12). Yet we should not overlook the fact that informal learning also includes a range of learning stimulated by general interests which is ‘caught not taught’ (Davies 1998).
There is growing evidence that many people are engaged in a wide range of technology-based informal learning at home and the community (Cranmer 2006, Impact2 2003, Facer et al. 2003). As Sefton-Green (2005, p.3) concluded from an extensive review of literature in the area: “computers and other aspects of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) allow children and young people a wide variety of activities and experiences that can support learning, yet many of these transactions do not take place in traditional educational settings. In fact many of these may not be considered ‘educational’USB Microscope USB Shot for Macintosh Operating ManualThis manual describes the USB Shot application, which runs on a Macintosh computer with a connected USB Microscope. Users who want to use the USB Microscope immediately should read section 1.3 “Installation” and install the required software before beginning . Once the software has been installed, go to 2. “Basic Operation.” This section gives step-by-step procedures for recording snapshot and movie images using USB Shot. Once you’re familiar with recording snapshot and movie images, go to 3. “Image Settings” and 4. “System Settings.” Section 3 describes how to make various recording settings, such as color hue and resolution adjustments. Section 4 describes various settings for snapshot, movie, and interval snapshot images.
1-2 Operating System Requirements USB Shot and the USB Microscope are designed to operate with the following hardware and software configurations: System: Macintosh with PowerPC Memory: 64MB or more Display capability: Monitor and computer capable of displaying 24-bit color with a minimum resolution of 800 x 600 (SVGA). Operating system: Mac OS 8.6 / 9.0 / 9.04 / 9.1 One of the above operating systems must be installed as a default on your Macintosh. - Installing the 4D Ajax Framework v11 component in a 4D V11 SQL database Follow the set that best suits your situation.
Installing the 4D Ajax Framework v11 component in a 4D 2004 database
Installing the Component
It is recommended that you make a backup of your database structure before installing the 4D Ajax Framework component.
1 Open your 4D database with 4D Insider
2 In the menu bar select Components -> Install/Update...

4 When installation completes quit 4D Insider.
Installing the Plugins Folder
4D Ajax Framework makes use of the 4D Pack plugin when serving its web pages. If you already have a “Plugins” folder next to your structure, simply copy the 4D Pack plugin into this folder. If you do not currently have a “Plugins” folder next to your structure, create this folder and copy the 4D Pack plugin into it.

Depending on whether or not you are currently serving your database to the web, you will need to do oneCan C# Replace Java in CS1 and CS2?Microsoft has developed a language called C# (—see sharp“) that it claims will allow programmers to —quickly and easily build solutions“ for its new.NET platform [3]. The language has much in common with Java, particularly in those features emphasized in CS1 and CS2 courses. It also includes some of the desirable features of C++ that are missing from Java as well as some new features not available in either language. This paper explores the pros and cons of teaching CS1 and CS2 using C# instead of Java and concludes with a discussion of the author‘s plans for teaching such a course in the fall of 2002.
Bill Gates has referred to the .NET technologies as —the breakthrough tools that will allow developers to write the next generation of applications“ [2]. He might be spouting marketing hype, but the release of .NET clearly constitutes a watershed for the company.
Many schools will choose to ignore what Microsoft does, but others will find the Microsoft connection appealing. Few departments would sacrifice the quality of instruction just to teach .practical. tools that are currently used in industry. But if C# turns out to be as useful as Java in teaching the CS curriculum, some schools will choose C# instead of Java because of the particular interests of their students, their school or their community.
There has been a shift away from C++ in computer science education in recent years. The reasons for this shift were documented in a report from an ad-hoc committee formed by the
