Using mental mill shaders in MayaThis document describes how to export shading networks and shaders from mental mill so that they can be used right away in the viewport rendering in Maya. A basic knowledge of how to work with mental mill or Maya is assumed. If you are not familiar with these tools,please take a look into the respective help documents of mental mill and Maya if you want to learn more about the applications themselves.
Preparing the shader in mental mill
1. Create your shading effect inside mental mill by building a shading net- work that creates the look that you want to achieve. Once satisfied with the result, go to
2. “Scene > Scene Settings…” and make sure that the following items are set correctly:
4. created by adding a light shader node to the “graph view” . This does not yet create a light source. An instance of the light source needs to be cre- ated: Go to
5. “Scene > Scene Settings…” , click “Add light” and select the light shader of your choice. You can create multiple light instances from one shader which will share the input data like color, falloff, etc… . (Note that parameter sharing happens only inside mental mill. Outside the application each light instance will have its own dedicated set of parameters) If your shading network contains nodes that do reflections of any kind
6. (e.g. “Component_reflection”) you have to create an instance from an environment shader on the workspace. You must enable this environment shader by selecting it under “SceneFacebook? Open? This project has applied such research to focus on the issue of introductory computer programming for physics students. It is concluded that teaching programming is both necessary and beneficial for physics students and may improve their performance on their degree. The choice of programming language for an introductory course is considered, and the Python programming language is selected. Questionnaire results from physics and engineering introductory courses are presented, and conclusions drawn from these results. The report finishes by presenting best practice suggestions to improve the enthusiasm and retention of material by the students.
As early as 1979 it was pointed out by Lemos [1] that there was a lack of structure in the approach to teaching programming; with many different methods used and no empirical research to distinguish which was most helpful for the student. Lemos stated that most of the literature consists of subjective opinions on the most effective methods of instruction for a given programming language and called for dedicated research in this field. Using Distance Snap
Back when I was drafting on basic AutoCAD, a long time ago, I had a bad habit. I’d spend hours making my drawings look good. Yeah, you know what I mean; it all starts when trying to place dimension lines at just the right distance from the geometry, then it snow balls into aligning dimensions and rearranging dimensions and before you know it you’ve just spent another hour. Thankfully, we upgraded to AutoCAD Mechanical and I found power dimension and its distance snap... the rest they say is history.
So here’s how it works. After you’ve specified the first and second extension lines, power dimension will ask you to specify the dimension line location; just like AutoCAD does. But instead of trying to find another dimension to align it with, keep dragging your cursor. The preview will ‘snap’ to a location and change from green to red.
