Dr. C#: A Pedagogic IDE for C# Featuring a Read-Eval-Print-LoopThe C# programming language is rapidly gaining acceptance in the developer community [25]. Microsoft has “bet the ranch” with its billion plus dollar investments into the .NET platform and has made it clear that C# is the premier language for targeting .NET [16]. Companies like HP are investing millions to train consultants and push the .NET platform [20], and businesses around the world are starting to listen and buy into what the .NET platform can offer them [8].
Currently, though, the Java platform has a strong foothold in both industry and academia, but C# offers many of the same and even improves on some of the features of Java [14]. Even Java proponents realize that C# has the potential to replace Java as the object oriented language of choice among professional developers [27]. Universities are also starting to open up to the idea of using C# to teach their courses
With all this momentum behind it, C# and .NET are here to stay, and the demand for knowledgeable C# developers will only rise. Whether through student demand, business pressure, or simply the compelling features of and research possibilities offered by the C# language, academia will soon find itself needing to teach C#. No matter how much lecturing a professor does, in the end the student will have to learn the concepts and programming skills by sitting himself in front of a computer and writing some code. Currently, given the set of tools available, if a students wants to do some programming inSource Code Exploration with GoogleThe paper presents a new approach to source code exploration, which is the result of integrating the Google Desktop Search (GDS) engine into the Eclipse development environment. The resulting search engine, named Google Eclipse Search (GES), provides improved searching in Eclipse software projects.
The paper advocates for a component-based approach that allows us to develop strong tools, which support various maintenance tasks, by leveraging the strengths of existing frameworks and components. The development effort for such tools is reduced, while customization and flexibility, to fully support user needs, is maintained. GES allows developers to search software projects in a manner similar to searching the internet or their own desktops. The proposed approach takes advantages of the power of GDS for quick and accurate searching and of Eclipse’s extensibility. The paper discusses usage scenarios, advantages, limitations, and possible extensions of the proposed tandem.
During software evolution most activities require the users to understand large and often new parts of a software system. Most of the time, the developers rely on the source code and the available documentation alone to achieve this understanding. In this context, source code searching and browsing are two of the most common activities undertaken by developers [4]. These activities directly support such tasks as concept location in source code, impact analysis, change propagation, debugging, and comprehension of software in general. Given their widespread use, we need to support them with fast and accurate tools and techniques.

This concept, which underpins many web 2.0 sites, repackages and applies existing technologies to achieve a new structure for internet applications. Unfortunately, increased flexibility creates conditions for new security problems.
To understand how AJAX alters the security landscape for web application testing it is necessary to show the fundamental differences between it and traditional internet application models.
Traditional internet model
A web browser requests a webpage, normally indicating that the request is being processed by animating a logo and altering the status bar. Internet Explorer, for example, animates the chequered flag. Figure 1 summarises this interaction. When the user clicks on a link, an HTTP Get request is sent to the server. The web server deals with the request, and sends the web page to the client. If the client is to send information back to the server, another request is made following the same process. Under this synchronous ‘click-and-wait’ communication method, information is exchanged by requesting and receiving whole web pages. While waiting for the server, the user loses the focus of the application and cannot interact with it. This loss of focus has long been a source of dissatisfaction with traditional web applications, and if the wait for a round trip from the server is sufficiently long, users may leave the site.

It was originally developed to execute models written in STELLA® more quickly. Over time, we added our own unique features which have made Berkeley Madonna into a fast, self-contained, and easy-to-use modeling tool. Berkeley Madonna is available for both Macintosh and Windows platforms. While these versions are mostly identical, there are some differences which are noted throughout this guide with the notation [Macintosh] or [Windows].

2 You can download the latest version of MRJ from http://www.apple.com/java. Note that Mac OS 9 comes with MRJ 2.1.4. We recommend that you use MRJ 2.2 or later since it offers significantly improved performance over MRJ 2.1.x. Windows: PC compatible running Microsoft Windows 95 or later, or Windows NT 4.0 or later. It does not work under older versions of Windows NT (such as 3.51), nor does it run under 16- bit versions of Windows (3.1, 3.11, etc) .

Get manualSimple Apache + Tomcat howtoHow to setup a Web Server in a Linux or MS-Windows environement with Tomcat, Apache and the WARP Connector (WebApp).
Be careful that the new versions (Apache 2 and tomcat 4) needs some particular changes. I will try to integrate them, but for now, check the Chapter 5 at the end of this document ! Besides, consider using Tomcat stand-alone : if it is fast enough, don't loose your time until the connector configuration is more stable. Enventually consider RESIN ($500) [http://www.caucho.com/] or Orion ($1500) [http://www.orionserver.com/], whish are much cheaper than the well known BEA WebLogic or IBM WebServer.
The 4.0.4 version of Tomcat is very new. I tested it on Windows but still not on Linux. Besides, which WARP Con- nector version to use is not clear. The main problem is to make Apache and TomCat work together. This is done through the WebApp connector, which installation is not trivial.
This can be done with the APJ connector (mod_jk or mod_fk2) too (and Coyote ?). But we will not be treat this here. It is a more "traditional" solution. I didn't find a lot of information which compared the APJ and WARP con- nectors, but from the little I have read, the WARP one seemed the best. (At least, I saw this note on the Jakarta Web site : [Using the WARP connector is recommended on platforms on which it is available .])
