  • Demystifying Web 2.0
  • Nearly all Web 2.0 applications started life as consumer-focused services, only later finding their way into the enterprise. But unlike many consumer ‘toys’, Web 2.0 actually delivers impressive benefits to the enterprise, including: Streamlining collaboration within and beyond the enterprise Accelerating search and information retrieval Capturing knowledge assets and facilitating knowledge transfer Speeding application development and deployment Communicating with stakeholders in new ways Some of these benefits are ‘soft’. Others are quantifiable. But all have combined to earn the attention of line-of-business managers and IT strategists alike. Web 2.0 is here to stay. In fact, it’s now evolving into Enterprise 2.0 – the application of Web 2.0 technologies to workers using network software within an organization Every new technology introduced into the enterprise brings with it new threats. Web 2.0 is no different, with threats including: Infection and downtime – caused by viruses, worms, Trojans and spyware specifically carried by Web 2.0 applications Data leaks – as staff members get lulled into a false sense of security, or intentionally share things they shouldn’t share Legal prosecution – for illegal activities or regulatory breaches Productivity loss – as users spend more time on blogs and social networking sites than on work Resource waste – as servers and networks become congested with frivolous multimedia content Reputation damage – as any of the above abuses hit the headlines These threats may look similar to the threat landscape associated with Web and email use in general. But the unique nature of Web 2.0 technologies demand a new understanding and new defenses At Clearswift, we’ve been helping enterprises protect themselves against
  • Hyundai Sonata V6 Sedan Manual
  • Hyundai’s latest Sonata has stepped on a few toes in the large car segment. Externally the new V6 is almost identical to its four cylinder sibling –dual tailpipes being the only clue to the extra power. Yes, they share the same attractive Euro style body, but have decidedly different personas. DISLIKES Small front seats Light coloured trim marks easily well shaped, fine for a long trip, and the centre armrest is a welcome bonus. But anyone riding in the middle might feel short-changed by the lack of support. ERGONOMICS Functional and uncluttered, the dash layout is a model of simplicity. Large instruments face the driver, with the high set audio controls just to the left. Three rotary switches look after all of your air conditioning functions. The boot and fuel cap releases are tucked away under the driver’s armrest. Thanks to its large windscreens, front and rear vision is very good, making manoeuvring easy. SAFETY At this stage the Sonata hasn’t received an ANCAP safety rating. However the new bodyshell’s strength has been optimised in the virtual world using computer analysis, and confirmed in reality. Three hundred Sonatas were sacrificed in crash testing during the car’s development. The newcomer’s level of standard safety equipment reinforces its value for money. Dual front and side airbags, are complemented by front and rear curtain airbags. Active front head restraints and front seat belts with load limiters and pre-tensioners complete the package. Primary safety is aided by ABS equipped four wheel discs with Electronic Brake-force

  • A Posteriori Defensive Programming: an Annotation Toolkit for DoS-resistant Component-Based Architectures
  • Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks make a system unavailable to well-behaved users by consuming a disproportionate amount of resources on the target system. DoS typically exploit weakness in the software, for instance consuming the bandwidth of the victim’s network or overloading the computational resources of its system. A lot of factors are involved when trying to build DoS resistant software. To make things worse, most of them are typically unknown during the development of the application. Reasonable hypotheses can facilitate the prevention of such attacks, but new ones can always arise and be exploited to damage systems. Researchers have studied the nature of these attacks [11, 7] and possible defense methodologies [12, 10], but building DoS resistant software still remains a challenging task. Building robust software can be achieved by adopting different techniques. For instance, in procedural or object- Download A Posteriori Defensive Programming: an Annotation Toolkit for DoS-resistant Component-Based Architectures

  • CREATING A HIGH-KEY LOOK TO YOUR PHOTO – PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL
  • In this tutorial, you will learn how to alter a typical color portrait so that it looks like a professional high- key studio shot. Here are the before and after photos: Open up the photo you want to use. Then desaturate your photo by clicking on Image / Adjustment / Desaturate. Now we will kick it up a notch by altering the curves. To do this, click on Image / Adjustment / Curves. You will need to adjust the input and output numbers of your curve. Hover your mouse over the diagonal line and then click once. The input and output number boxes will now be visible. Change the Input number to 171 and the Output number to 240. Then click OK In order to blur out the background a bit, we will add a Gaussian blur. First, make a duplicate of your photo by right-clicking on it in the Layers Palette You will now have two layers. The bottom layer is your original and the top layer is your duplicate. Now add a guassian blur to this duplicate (top) layer by clicking on Filter / Blur / Gaussian Blur. Change the radius to 30.0. In order to have just the background blurred and your subject’s features (eyes, nose, mouth) nice and sharp, we will add a layer mask to the blurred layer and erase some of this layer to expose the sharp image beneath. • The Forrester Wave: Application Server Platforms
  • Application server platforms are the most important category of application platform software for most enterprises. An application server platform is infrastructure software for building Web and composite applications and, increasingly, applications based on service-oriented architecture (SOA) design principles. An application server platform integrates an application server, which manages user requests, data access, and business logic, with portal servers and integration/business process management (BPM) servers — and often additional features, as well. - App server platforms are the most strategic of all application platforms. According to data from Forrester’s Business Data Services, Microsoft’s .NET and Java/J2EE have consistently finished at the top of the list of most commonly used development platforms. .NET and Java/ J2EE are the core technologies for most application server platforms. Hot new platform options, including Ruby on Rails, Java Spring, and PHP, and new hosted platforms like salesforce.com’s Apex are simply not as important to platform buyers in our surveys yet, and older platforms like 4GLs and host platforms are in declining usage (see Figure 1).· - Application server platforms help customers consolidate to save money. Many customers turn to application server platforms and suites and dump their best-of-breed products. Why? Application server platforms offer higher volume discounts and reduced product integration costs. - App server platforms are the base for a growing number of solutions. Buyers of many packaged business applications either use application server platforms now or soon will, adding to the importance of this category. Microsoft’s Dynamics packaged applications are based on its .NET platform. NetWeaver
