Maya Crash CourseThis very brief tutorial is intended to familiarise the user with the basic layout of animation tools in Maya. It assumes that the reader will consult help files to find out more about each tool.
1. Channel Editor
2. Layer Editor
3. Shelf
4. Toolbox
5. Timeline
Okay, so Maya looks pretty daunting, especially if you go hunting through all the menus, but from an animation point of view it’s not that hard to use once you know where things are.
Menus
The drop-down box at the top left of the screen lets you choose which set of menus to display. Setting it to ‘animation’ will let you see everything needed for this tutorial.
Navigation
You can navigate your way round the viewport by using the following controls:
To Rotate – hold the Alt key and drag with the left mouse button.
To Zoom – use the mouse scroll wheel or hold Alt and drag with the right mouse button.
To Pan – hold Alt and drag with the middle mouse button.
To focus the camera on an object, hold Ctrl+Alt and drag a selection box around the object.

You need to learn how to ask them the right question. We provide what we consider the most useful and necessary aspects of Photoshop for creating, preparing, or fixing images on course web pages. You will not be inundated with details about pixels, resolution, and color management
As with most programs, there are multiple ways of accomplishing the same end. You will discover more advanced techniques as you become familiar with the software (e.g., using hot buttons versus top menu vs. keyboard commands, etc.) You will have questions that are not answered here. In such cases consult the Adobe Photoshop online help or the printed manual.

DownloadTraits in CSharpThe main focus of this work is on identifying interesting and important aspects of introducing traits to CSharp. We also identify required and optional features for statically typed languages as well as conflict situations. The implementation presented in this paper is a simple prototype (a preprocessor) based on the trait flattening property [9]. It is meant to be a study case for a clean implementation.
The main problem concerning traits and statically typed languages like CSharp is about typing traits and to keep the ability to share code easily. Many approaches already exist in theory. This practical work contributes to the research about traits by presenting a simple prototype, showing the possibilities and difficulties in integrating traits in statically typed languages.
Although the focus of this work is on CSharp most of the results are directly applicable to other typed object-oriented languages. The implemented “trait flattening framework”, kept mostly language independent, would also work for most other c-like languages (with only slight modification).
Section 2 shortly introduces traits. The following sections cover the basics about CSharp, give a short overview about a first dirty-prototype done in CSharp itself and contain some more extensive descriptions, results and practical research by doing the final implementation using Smalltalk.

DownloadIMPORTING AND EXPORTING AutoCAD FILES (DWG)In addition to Canvas’numerous import and export capabilities, you can also import AutoCAD 2007 files into Canvas 11, edit them, and export to PDF format.
Objectives
After this exercise you will be able to:
» Import a DWG file
» Export as PDF
» Add symbols to a document
» Create dimensions
Required knowledge to perform this exercise:
» Open or place files
» Move an object
» Draw or place an object
» Understand the use of dimensions in CAD design
STEP1: IMPORTINGDWGFILES
First choose File > Open and select DWG for Files of type. Click Open and the DWG & DXF Import dialog box opens. The first going to Open and select the DWG file, but first on Files of type select DWG - AutoCAD® native files, then a new palette window call DWG & DXF Import will open.
A common scale used in CAD drawing is ¼”=1’, so we need to setup at this scale. Note: If you don’t want to set the drawing scale upon import, you can also use Canvas’ various scaling methods after import.

LMB – Left mouse button
RMB – Right mouse button
MMB – middle mouse button
Maya file types :
mb – default: MAYA binary
ma – MAYA ascii ( for exchange with other MAYA version –manipulate header)
iges – Iges File for data exchange with Surfcam, Rhino, FromZ….etc. supports nurbs geometries. (Hint: to import in SurfCam modify file extension to .igs) Dxf (not recommended) polygon format for AutoCAD etc.
