JADE PROGRAMMER’S GUIDEThis programmer’s guide is complemented by the administrator’s guide and the HTML documentation available in the directory jade/doc. If and where conflict arises between what is reported in the HTML documentation and this guide, preference should be given to the HTML documentation that is updated more frequently. JADE (Java Agent Development Framework) is a software development framework aimed at developing multi-agent systems and applications conforming to FIPA standards for intelligent agents. It includes two main products: a FIPA-compliant agent platform and a package to develop Java agents. JADE has been fully coded in Java and an agent programmer, in order to exploit the framework, should code his/her agents in Java, following the implementation guidelines described in this programmer’s guide.
This guide supposes the reader to be familiar with the FIPA standards1, at least with the Agent Management specifications (FIPA no. 23), the Agent Communication Language, and the ACL Message Structure (FIPA no. 61). JADE is written in Java language and is made of various Java packages, giving application programmers both ready-made pieces of functionality and abstract interfaces for custom, application dependent tasks. Java was the programming language of choice because of its many attractive features, particularly geared towards object-oriented programming in distributed heterogeneous environments; some of these features are Object Serialization, Reflection API and Remote Method Invocation (RMI).
Download JADE PROGRAMMER’S GUIDEShare, Collaborate, Exploit Defining Mobile Web 2.0The mercurial rise of social networking sites and user-generated content has rekindled users’ interest in accessing Web-based services on the move. That the mobile phone is an inherently personal device which is not only with us most of the time, but also contains a huge amount of personal data (contact lists of names and phone numbers, stored messages and emails etc.) makes it a logical extension for the social network and the host of other collaborative Web 2.0 applications gaining traction.
Perhaps the major factors driving the shift in how the Internet operates – whether fixed or mobile – are those of user interaction and enhancement. The Web is no longer simply an online resource of information to be consulted, searched and acted upon. It has become a network of social communities and information databases that are constantly growing and improving as they continue to harness the collective intelligence of users. It could therefore be argued that whereas Web 1.0 served essentially as a broadcast medium (i.e. of information/knowledge) ‘Web 2.0’ takes the form of a platform whereby the creator of content, has become the focus.
Defining Mobile Web 2.0
Difficulty in establishing a firm and accepted definition, plus the fact that many of Web 2.0’s core concepts cannot be replicated directly within the cellular environment, is paralleled in a similar debate on what exactly denotes Mobile Web 2.0. Whilst it is possible to identify common themes between an Internet- based and mobile Web-based application, the exact features or functionality that makes eitherResolveRT User’s Guide (amira for microscopy)ResolveRT’s deconvolution provides powerful algorithms for improving the quality of microscopic images recorded by 3D widefield and confocal microscopes. Two different methods are supported, namely a so-called non-blind and a blind deconvolution method, both based on iterative maximum- likelihood image restoration. In the first case a measured or computed point spread function (PSF) is required. In the second case the PSF is estimated along with the data itself.
The deconvolution documentation is organized as follows: • General remarks about image deconvolution • Data aquisition and sampling rates • Standard deconvolution tutorial • Blind deconvolution tutorial • Bead extraction tutorial • Performance issues and multi-processing The following modules are included: • BeadExtract - obtain a PSF from a bead measurement •
Convolution - convolve two 3D images • CorrectZDrop - corrects attenuation in z-direction • DataPreprocess - background and flatfield correction Deconvolution - the actual deconvolution front-end

The proof of concept shows that SQL Server 2005 can deliver the same or better results for a high-performance enterprise-class data warehouse than the more-costly alternatives.
We delivered an optimized data warehouse solution using SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2005 Integration Services, and SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services on a Unisys ES7000/one Enterprise Server with x64 processors. We conducted a series of tests for extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) operations and online analytical processing (OLAP) cube building. These tests measured throughput, scalability, and performance as the amount of data and execution parallelism were increased. SQL Server 2005 demonstrated the ability to use all available CPUs and memory for both the bulk data load and cube processing testing. In this proof of concept we outperformed the direct competition (Oracle-based solutions) by at least 45 percent. The test results documented in this paper prove that the SQL Server 2005 suite running on the Unisys ES7000 server can take advantage of parallelism and multiple processors to deliver extremely high rates of ETL and OLAP cube processing throughputs. Our team of 12 specialists from Unisys, Microsoft (U.S. and Germany), and Platon implemented this fully-functional data warehouse in less than three weeks.

Download manualBuilding a Multi-Page Image Viewer with ImageGear for SilverlightAs the desire to deliver rich web content and functionality has increased over the last decade, Rich Internet Application (RIA) technologies have become increasingly powerful. Unfortunately, many of these technologies have been out of reach for many client application developers because of the non-trivial learning curve involved. In addition, with the number of RIA technologies available, where do you even begin? In many cases, there was not a “one size fits all” solution, so RIA development would involve a mix of HTML, JavaScript, Adobe Flash, and perhaps a little AJAX thrown in (just to name a few possibilities).
Luckily, Microsoft has entered the world of RIA frameworks, and with the introduction of Microsoft Silverlight 2, offers a platform, which leverages existing .NET developers’ talents. With version 3.0 in the works, providing enhanced graphics support, data binding, and perhaps best of all, out-of-browser support, the Silverlight platform is certainly worth a look for new, and even existing, RIA development.
Silverlight includes many of the same base services and types included in the .NET Framework. However, because it is a runtime built specifically for the web, where developers expect a robust platform in a small package, much of the functionality included in its desktop cousin is absent. For example, the image type in Silverlight, System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapImage, only supports JPEG and PNG image file types, and does not include support for grayscale. This is where third-party tools vendors become part of the Silverlight ecosystem, providing extensions to the base platform as the market demands. How Do I Know that the Software was Installed Successfully and is Functioning Properly
When you install the KODAK EASYSHARE Software CD, you install a suite of applications. Together, these applications let you get the most out of your digital imaging experience. The applications installed from this CD via a Typical install include:
• KODAK Camera Connection Software
• KODAK Memory Albums
• KODAK Software Updater
• KODAK EASYSHARE Software
• APPLE QUICKTIME Software
If the software was installed successfully and is functioning properly, when you connect the camera to your computer and turn it on (or press the Connect button on the camera dock), you can:
• View the camera as a disk drive in My Computer
• Transfer pictures from your camera to the computer
• Print, email, enhance, and organize your pictures
If the Software was Not Installed Successfully or is Not Functioning Properly
If any of the above functions does not work, perform these troubleshooting procedures sequentially to resolve the problem.
1. Verify that your computer meets minimum requirements
2. Verify that no problems occurred during software installation
3. Verify that the camera appears in Device Manager
4. Verify that KODAK Camera Connection Software is functioning properly
5. Verify that KODAK EASYSHARE Software is functioning properly
If you complete the relevant troubleshooting procedures and still cannot install the software successfully or get it to function properly.
