  • JADE PROGRAMMER’S GUIDE
  • This programmer’s guide is complemented by the administrator’s guide and the HTML documentation available in the directory jade/doc. If and where conflict arises between what is reported in the HTML documentation and this guide, preference should be given to the HTML documentation that is updated more frequently. JADE (Java Agent Development Framework) is a software development framework aimed at developing multi-agent systems and applications conforming to FIPA standards for intelligent agents. It includes two main products: a FIPA-compliant agent platform and a package to develop Java agents. JADE has been fully coded in Java and an agent programmer, in order to exploit the framework, should code his/her agents in Java, following the implementation guidelines described in this programmer’s guide. This guide supposes the reader to be familiar with the FIPA standards1, at least with the Agent Management specifications (FIPA no. 23), the Agent Communication Language, and the ACL Message Structure (FIPA no. 61). JADE is written in Java language and is made of various Java packages, giving application programmers both ready-made pieces of functionality and abstract interfaces for custom, application dependent tasks. Java was the programming language of choice because of its many attractive features, particularly geared towards object-oriented programming in distributed heterogeneous environments; some of these features are Object Serialization, Reflection API and Remote Method Invocation (RMI). • Spring Framework Tutorial
  • This tutorial covers the main packages in the Spring Framework. For full details, we refer you to Rod Johnson’s book, Expert One-on-One J2EE Design and Development, published by Wrox Press in 2002. The book’s ISBN number is 1-86100-784-1. The code for the Spring Framework is contained in package com.interface21. We provide UML diagrams for the subpackages, as well as code samples. 1.1 Setting up for the samples The samples have been written using the MySQL database (www.mysql.com), Tomcat (jakarta.apache.org/tomcat) and JBoss(www.jboss.org). We refer you to these web sites for setting up the environment correctly. In MySQL, create a database named test, a user test with password test, and grant user test all rights: grant all on test.* to test@localhost identified by ’test’; If you use a different database, read the comments at the top of the samples files, they will direct you to the spots in the code you will have to change for your database. 1.2 Building the tutorials The tutorials can be built using the provided Ant script (you can get ant at http://jakarta.apache.org/ant). You may need to edit the build.properties file to set paths correctly for your system. 1.3 Running the tutorials We provide a shell script, runtest.sh, and a batch file, runtest.bat, for running a single tutorial. You may need to edit these files to set the paths correctly. Download pdf Spring Framework Tutorial
  • Exploring the Practicalities of Developing Web 2.0 Applications in Online Research
  • As an industry we continue to struggle to find respondents to provide us with survey information vital to the success of our industry. To survive the Internet revolution we must use innovative methods to motivate and engage respondents and maintain their long term loyalty. Over the years much has been written about intrinsically motivating respondents through survey design, communication and the use of incentives, however, researchers are still looking towards technology to help improve or even solve the problem. Web 2.0 is the latest ‘buzz’ word in market research that promises to make the online research more dynamic and interactive. It offers the potential not only to increase motivation, but also to provide new levels of insight from our collected data. This paper explores the relationship between Web 2.0 and market research using a hands-on approach. Definitions of Web 2.0 are varied and often inconsistent and so we focus on how increasing respondents’ interactive communication and collaboration would affect our current models of online market research. The increased availability of broadband Internet and widespread acceptance of social networking among the population lead us to suggest that Web 2.0 may not be a passing fad. Indeed, Ipsos MORI has long been aware of the benefits of community interaction and has been putting these into practise, where appropriate, for many years. To really enter the world of Web 2.0 you need to hand over control of content and direction to your user community. Our aim was to explore these new approaches in a fast
  • Adobe Linguistic Library Plug-ins Programming Guide
  • This programming guide will help you develop plug-ins for Adobe® Linguistic Library. Linguistic Library makes it possible to add linguistic services like spell checkers and hyphenation services to Adobe products, through the Linguistic Library API. Linguistic Library is not a shrink-wrapped product. Instead, it provides common linguistic services for many Adobe products; thus, it is an important component of these products. Linguistic Library has an extensible architecture. You can extend the functionality of Linguistic Library to provide customized linguistic services by implementing plug-ins for it. The advantage of implementing plug-ins through Linguistic Library is that these additional lin- guistic services are available to all Adobe products automatically if they use Linguistic Library. To provide services through individual product extensions, you would have to write programs against every product API. The intended audience for this document is developers with a basic understanding of Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) technology and Apple’s CFPlug-in API (since the Linguistic Library plug-in architecture is based on these technologies). Terminology The following terms are used in this document: Client application — An Adobe application that uses linguistics services provided by Lin- guistic Library. Lilo — Shorthand for Adobe Linguistic Library, used in some interface names and folder names. Plug-in — Except where explicitly specified, “plug-ins” in this document refers to Linguistic Library plug-ins that extend Linguistic Library and provide additional, customized linguis- tic services. — The location of the Linguistic Library plug-ins folder, On Mac OS®, this is /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Linguistics/Providers/Plugins. On Windows®, this is C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobeLinguisticsProvidersPlugins. — The path where you installed the
  • The New Web: Characterizing AJAX Traffic
  • The rapid advent of “Web 2.0” applications has unleashed new HTTP traffic patterns which differ from the conventional HTTP request-response model. In particular, asynchronous pre-fetching of data in order to provide a smooth web browsing experience and richer HTTP payloads (e.g., Javascript libraries) of Web 2.0 applications induce larger, heavier, and more bursty traffic on the underlying networks. We present a traffic study of Web 2.0 applications including Google Maps, modern Web-email, and social networking Web sites, and compare them with all HTTP traffic. We highlight the key differences of Web 2.0 traffic from traditional HTTP traffic through statistical analysis. As such our work elucidates the changing face of one of the most popular application on the Internet: The World Wide Web. The World Wide Web [1] is one of the most popular applications of the Internet that runs primarily over the HTTP protocol. While HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) [2] constitutes the session layer or messaging protocol of the Web, the HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) describes the content and allows authors to connect up web pages through hypertext links or hyperlinks; an idea made popular by Tim Burners Lee in the early 1990s and widely used today. In its classical form, users reach other pages or access new data by clicking on hyperlinks or submitting Web based forms. In this basic HTTP request-response model each clicked link or submitted form results in loading of a new web page in response to the respective request. The recent popularity of asynchronouscommunication enabled

  • Hitachi-LG GDR3120L Tutorial
  • The outer Xbox 360 “shell” is entirely screwless. Plastic friction tabs hold the case together. There are many different tutorials for opening the Xbox 360, with different methods. Here are some links to “opening the Xbox 360” tutorials. I decided not to cover opening the Xbox 360 in this tutorial since it is already long enough and there are many other tutorials for opening the Xbox 360. Notes: - The Anandtech guide says you need to use a Torx 12 screwdriver. There is no such thing. You need a Torx 10 screwdriver. - Removing the grey side grill on the hard drive side is a little tricky. The first friction tab is actually inaccessible from the top holes in the case, so you need to stick your screwdriver in the hole by where the hard drive button is and unclip it. (See Pic) - In order to push in the back clips, you can do one of two things. You can use a thin metal object such as a precision flathead screwdriver / bobby pin / paperclip OR you can make an opening “key” out of a CD spindle case. The key would not work for me, it was too flimsy, but it works for some people. You can purchase an “unlock kit.” - If all you want to do is just flash the firmware, you only need to remove the six long screws on the bottom. (See Pic) Read all these guides and watch all the videos, figure out how you want to go

  • Graphical Editing Framework and the Eclipse Modeling Framework Understanding the GEF and EMF frameworks Developing with GEF and EMF Code examples 1 What is the Eclipse Modeling Framework? Application development generally starts with consideration of the design model, then moves to more user interface oriented tasks. The Eclipse Modeling Framework is designed to ease the design and implementation of a structured model. The Java framework provides a code generation facility in order to keep the focus on the model itself and not on its implementation details. The key concepts underlying the framework are: meta-data, code generation, and default serialization. Download Eclipse Development Manual
