In 1980 FIAT introduced a Bosch multiport fuel injection system in its vehicles. Introduced first on California-bound vehicles and, by 1981, on all U.S. vehicles, the Bosch system improved the performance, efficiency, reliability, and quality of engine operations. Solely responsible for a 23 horsepower increase on the 2 liter engines, this system, known as Bosch L-Jetronic, was popular not only on FIATs but on nearly every European car produced in the 1980’s.

Fiat’s confusing, like-sounding model names, the Brava is the five-door,family-sized hatch back,while Bravo is a 15cm shorter but more sportily slanted three-door variation on the same theme. This “horses-for-courses” approach makes sound sense: the Brava offers more space, five-door practicality and a rounded-off ride for those with a family to consider, while the Bravo’s distinctive-but-different styling and subtly revised suspension and specification cater for less-encumbered buyers seeking a more sporting attraction. Which ever tickles your fancy, though, Fiat has recently given the pair a mild makeover. Staying faithful to the original styling concept, the refettled Fiats are not much different to look at, but every version now offers significant improvements and costs less, or at least no more, than its previous equivalent.

First you need to unscrew the cross link bar of the wish bone(white arrow). This will enable you easier taking off of the shock. To do so, get under the car while its not jacked up, and just unscrew the nut off completely.

After that, open the bonnet and pull off the plastic cap on the shock pad (white arrow). When removed it will look like this. Now take a spanner and a ratchet (6mm alen key) and put them on like on the pics left. When you have done that, just un tighten (1/2 - 1 turns) the nut. To un tighten the nut, hold the ratchet in place and turn the spanner. DO NOT unscrew more than that or take the nut off.

Details of Fiat Brava 16v 1599cc engines vary considerably depending on the year of manufacture and the chassis number. The following procedure applies to a year 1999 model with a Schrader valve at the end of the fuel rail to release fuel pressure. The replacement injector is a manufacturer supplied part according to Fiat and costs about £100. Once you have one and are certain of the part number, when another is required, it is worth checking other sources such as eBay, as new ones have been advertised there for £58.

OK, first the banging and force pulling method is OUT !!!! All of the Bravo/a seat head rests can be removed whit ease. You only need these pliers (don’t know the right name ;) ) The next step is to pull up the head rest and grip the pins whit these pliers.
WARNING : Put some thick cloth under them plieers, or the plastic will get “eaten“ !

Step 1. (Optional) Preparation prior to fitting
Before you start removing your old parts you may want to consider preventing your new parts from corroding like the existing ones. You could smear a protective oil or grease over the exposed metal and rub it over or you could like myself spray paint the metal parts.
