  • Setting up Microsoft Outlook to reject unsolicited email
  • Information Services has deployed a system using ‘SpamAssassin’ software which can help you manage the unsolicited email you receive. SpamAssassin examines every mail message entering the system and assigns it a score based on the similarity of its content to typical unsolicited or spam messages. If this score exceeds 5, the message is tagged ‘{Spam?}’ before it is delivered to you. It is possible to set up rules within Outlook® to automatically move such messages to a folder which could be checked from time to time. In theory it would be possible to move all such mail automatically to the deleted mail folder; this is not advisable, however, as mail may occasionally be scored incorrectly, leading to the deletion of normal mail. Information Services recommends that you make at least a quick check of the message sender and subject prior to deletion, even for messages marked ‘{Spam?}’. If you want to move messages to a new folder, it is easier to create this before beginning the following steps Download pdf Setting up Microsoft Outlook to reject unsolicited email

  • D-Link DMI-128ESU+ ISDN Terminal Adapter (TA) Users Manual
  • The ISDN TA (Integrated Service Digital Network Terminal Adapter) is a communication product for the Internet and digital communication era. It provides high speed and high quality transmission. The TA supports two analogs and one digital port. The two analog ports act like two regular telephone lines, which can be connected to regular telephone, answering machine, fax and modem products. Also, the TA can provide flexible functions like: supplementary service, call screening, speed dial and global call function to meet user’s requirements. The digital port with the RS232 link can be connected to PC to support data communication with remote site. It supports many protocol selection such as V.110, V.120, X.75, X.25 on D channel, PPP (Point-toPoint Protocol), MLPPP (Multi-Link PPP), BACP (Bandwidth Allocation Control Protocol) / BOD (Bandwidth On Demand) function. With the MLPPP, the entire 128k ISDN bandwidth can be used to access the Internet. The BOD function can utilize dynamic bandwidth demand under MLPPP connection. Under MLPPP data connection, the TA will automatically release one B channel for voice communication when the user picks up the phone to make a call and returns to two B channels for MLPPP when the phone hangs up. With the BACP function, the 128k capacity of ISDN can be utilized fully. The TA is equipped with channel bundling feature which allows the user to use both B channels to maximize the 128k bandwidth for data transmission. The TA complies with ITU-T Q.921, Q.931 for D channel protocol, and provides switching type selections

  • DOS Programming Part II
  • DOS Secrets To program well, you have to know more about your hardware and DOS internals. This book is neither a hardware book nor a beginners’ book. So I would slightly touch the hardware and DOS internals in this chapter. In many Institutions hardware & software are being taught as different subjects. And people don’t know how both are related. For system programming you must know the relationship between the two. This chapter will help you to understand why a programmer should know hardware & DOS internals for DOS programming. 14.1 Prelude DOS (Disk Operating System) is the widely used operating system. It is a single-user operating system. DOS is designed to provide an easy way to use disks for storage. It is very efficient in controlling, accessing and managing the data from disk drives. The basic operations performed by DOS are regulate space allocation, keep track of files, save and retrieve files and manage other control functions associated with disk storage. Thus using DOS an interface is made between the user and the computer. This DOS is same for all the systems. For loading this DOS to the memory BIOS, bootstrap program, diagnostic testing programs are very essential and we will discuss it in the coming sections. Download pdf DOS Programming Part II

  • Rails HOW-TO: Authenticating with WebAuth
  • Having authenticated with WebAuth using an SSO username and password, the PHP script is executed. As you can see, the PHP script is passed a parameter which is the URL of a login page of a Rails application. The only thing the PHP script does is to redirect to that URL passing a parameter that is a base64 encoded string: https://www.abcd.ox.ac.uk:8113/apps/contacts/login?id=base64string The id parameter is the base64 encoded version of an encryption of the username and the current date and time. The login method of the Rails application looks at the id parameter, decodes it and then unencrypts it. So it now has the username and the date and time. In order to avoid replay attacks, the Rails application checks that the date and time refers to a recent date and time. It also checks that the username is in a list of valid usernames. If both these tests are passed, it sets a session variable (session[:user_id]) to "OK"; otherwise, it is set to "BAD". Having authenticated, subsequent methods of the Rails application are executed in the usual way, i.e., by using the URL of the method, e.g.: https://www.abcd.ox.ac.uk:8113/apps/contacts/add We need to alter the code of the controller of the Rails application so that it has a call of before_filter. This call can ensure that a method called authenticate is called before any method of the Rails application is called. The authenticate method can be similar to the authenticate method introduced in the document Rails HOW-TO: Apache and Basic Authentication, which is available
