  • Addendum to Users Manual Ranger Wedge Interface
  • A laptop computer contains an integrated keyboard whereas a desktop computer uses an external keyboard. When using a desktop computer with a scanner that is designed to emulate keyboard input, the scanner is wedged into the cable that connects the external keyboard to the computer (hence, the term wedge scanner). Since a laptop keyboard is internal, there is no cable accessible to use a standard wedge connection for a scanner. However, most laptops make provision for an external keyboard via a separate keyboard connector (or port). Since the scanner connections to the laptop are different from the connections to a desktop computer, the scanner must be programmed specifically to operate as an external keyboard device. This is accomplished by using the programming codes on page 9. Download pdf Addendum to Users Manual Ranger Wedge Interface
  • AutoCAD® LT 2006 Tutorial
  • In order to become effective in using a CAD system, we must learn to create geometric entities quickly and accurately. In learning to use a CAD system, lines and circles are the first two, and perhaps the most important two, geometric entities that we need to master Copyrighted the skills in creating and modifying. Straight lines and circles are used in almost all technical designs. In examining the different types of planar geometric entities, we can see that triangles and polygons are planar figures bounded by straight lines. Ellipses and splines can be constructed by connecting arcs with different radii. As we gain some Material experience in creating lines and circles, similar procedures can be applied to create other geometric entities. In this lesson, we will examine the different ways of creating lines and circles in AutoCAD® LT 2006. Download PDF for AutoCAD® LT 2006 Tutorial

  • Hyundai Sonata V6 Sedan Manual
  • Hyundai’s latest Sonata has stepped on a few toes in the large car segment. Externally the new V6 is almost identical to its four cylinder sibling –dual tailpipes being the only clue to the extra power. Yes, they share the same attractive Euro style body, but have decidedly different personas. DISLIKES Small front seats Light coloured trim marks easily well shaped, fine for a long trip, and the centre armrest is a welcome bonus. But anyone riding in the middle might feel short-changed by the lack of support. ERGONOMICS Functional and uncluttered, the dash layout is a model of simplicity. Large instruments face the driver, with the high set audio controls just to the left. Three rotary switches look after all of your air conditioning functions. The boot and fuel cap releases are tucked away under the driver’s armrest. Thanks to its large windscreens, front and rear vision is very good, making manoeuvring easy. SAFETY At this stage the Sonata hasn’t received an ANCAP safety rating. However the new bodyshell’s strength has been optimised in the virtual world using computer analysis, and confirmed in reality. Three hundred Sonatas were sacrificed in crash testing during the car’s development. The newcomer’s level of standard safety equipment reinforces its value for money. Dual front and side airbags, are complemented by front and rear curtain airbags. Active front head restraints and front seat belts with load limiters and pre-tensioners complete the package. Primary safety is aided by ABS equipped four wheel discs with Electronic Brake-force

  • Secure Ecommerce Framework for the .NET Environment
  • Information and communication technologies continue to pervade our lives in various aspects which include health, education, entertainment and ecommerce. People need to be able to trust computer systems as the dependence on them increases. The Trustworthy Computing vision (CRA, 2003) refers to computer systems that are intuitive, controllable, reliable and predictable and that ensure availability and security. Secure cod- ing is not trivial and poor code security management may leave the developed web application vulnerable to attack or turn the application into a launch pad for serious attacks. This paper is organized as follows: Section 2 provides background information to secure coding in web applications. Section 4 outlines the aims and objectives of the project. Section 5 briefly describes the design of the developed secure framework. Section 6 highlights the achievements of the project and Section 7 presents a conclusion. 2 Background Security vulnerabilities in a system can be at the application, server and network level. Unpatched software, viruses and trojan horses may all expose a system to attack. These security issues should be addressed in any system; however these can easily be bypassed with an attack on a web application. The aim of this project is to focus on the application-level security vulnerabilities which are introduced in the next subsections. (Howard and LeBlanc, 2003) Web Application Vulnerabilities This section presents a brief overview of the most common security vulnerabilities found in ecommerce web applications. Cross-Site Scripting Cross-Site Scripting is a form of input validation vulnerability (Howard et al, 2005). Any web application that directly
  • A LATEX survival guide for Unix systems
  • This document is designed to provide new users of LAEX with a reference for the local features not documented in the manual (The LATEX Book, Lesley Lamport, Addison Wesley 1987); it takes the place of the Local Guide referred to in the book. For a general introduction to LATEX, you are referred to the companion manual Essential LATEX ++, mostly by Jon Warbrick. For a general introduction to the concepts of the TEX software distribution, see Joachim Schrod’s Components of TEX. Readers of this document will normally be staff or students who have either taught themselves LATEX, or are being taught it as part of a course. Completely new users should read Essential LATEX ++ £rst, to familiarize themselves with basic concepts. Most of this manual is for reference purposes, so do not read it as a tutorial text! LATEX runs on a variety of computers at many different sites. This document tells you how to use LATEX on Unix computers. It is not about LATEX itself, which is described by the manual—LATEX: A Document Preparation System, published by Addison-Wesley, available at the book shop. If you have a question that you can’t answer by reading the manual and this document, ask the local support team. Download pdf A LATEX survival guide for Unix systems

  • The Importance of C# Within the Microsoft .NET Framework
  • The Microsoft .NET software platform integrates various aspects of software development. In .NET applications can be written in a variety of programming languages and can be either stand-alone or web-based. A lab module for CS 453 Electronic Commerce Technologies was developed that instructs students on how to develop complex e-commerce websites using the programming language C# within the Microsoft .NET framework. This project and thesis provided insight into the power of C# and the .NET framework. Student evaluations were constructive and positive overall. There were many good suggestions for expansion of the C# lab module. The Microsoft .NET software platform integrates various aspects of software development. The .NET framework is installed on all machines that contain applications designed in the Visual Studio .NET Integrated Development Environment (IDE). This IDE allows software developers to create fully deployable applications. These applications can be written in a variety of programming languages and can be either stand-alone or web-based. The programming language C# (pronounced see-sharp) is a central language in .NET that evolved from the languages Java and C++. C# and the Microsoft .NET framework has advantages over older languages that make it worth learning. Because there is very little support for C# and the .NET framework in the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science, few UVA students graduate with basic knowledge of this technology. This problem must be rectified so UVA graduates can be effective in the IT industry. To address this problem, in this project a lab module for CS 453
