  • Attention for Use Overseas In many countries, you cannot use the ThinkPad modem function until IBM has received approval from the proper authorities. Your ThinkPad modem is a worldwide modem and can be used in any country where Postal Telegraph and Telephone (PTT) type approval has been obtained. If the country you want is not on the Country Selection listing, see http://www.ibm.com/thinkpad on the Internet, and download the newest Country Selection list. If you are a non-U.S. user, run the Country Selection program in the ThinkPad Modem folder after you complete the ThinkPad modem installation. The “Country Selection” window enables you to change the country name to that of the country in which you are actually going to use the ThinkPad modem telephony function in. Click on ThinkPad Modem in your operating system; then click on Country Selection. Confirm whether the selection matches the country name in the Dialing Properties listing (for Windows 98 and Windows 95). For more information on the use of the internal modem in a specific country, contact the IBM customer support center in that country. • The AspectJ Programming Guide
  • Many software developers are attracted to the idea of aspect-oriented programming (AOP) but unsure about how to begin using the technology. They recognize the concept of crosscutting concerns, and know that they have had problems with the implementation of such concerns in the past. But there are many questions about how to adopt AOP into the development process. Common questions include: Can I use aspects in my existing code? What kinds of benefits can I expect to get from using aspects? How do I find aspects in my programs? How steep is the learning curve for AOP? What are the risks of using this new technology? This chapter addresses these questions in the context of AspectJ: a general-purpose aspect-oriented extension to Java. A series of abridged examples illustrate the kinds of aspects programmers may want to implement using AspectJ and the benefits associated with doing so. Readers who would like to understand the examples in more detail, or who want to learn how to program examples like these, can find more complete examples and supporting material linked from the AspectJ web site ( http://eclipse.org/aspectj ). A significant risk in adopting any new technology is going too far too fast. Concern about this risk causes many organizations to be conservative about adopting new technology. To address this issue, the examples in this chapter are grouped into three broad categories, with aspects that are easier to adopt into existing development projects coming earlier in this chapter. The next section, Introduction to AspectJ, we present the core of AspectJ's features, and
  • Hitachi-LG GDR3120L Tutorial
  • The outer Xbox 360 “shell” is entirely screwless. Plastic friction tabs hold the case together. There are many different tutorials for opening the Xbox 360, with different methods. Here are some links to “opening the Xbox 360” tutorials. I decided not to cover opening the Xbox 360 in this tutorial since it is already long enough and there are many other tutorials for opening the Xbox 360. Notes: - The Anandtech guide says you need to use a Torx 12 screwdriver. There is no such thing. You need a Torx 10 screwdriver. - Removing the grey side grill on the hard drive side is a little tricky. The first friction tab is actually inaccessible from the top holes in the case, so you need to stick your screwdriver in the hole by where the hard drive button is and unclip it. (See Pic) - In order to push in the back clips, you can do one of two things. You can use a thin metal object such as a precision flathead screwdriver / bobby pin / paperclip OR you can make an opening “key” out of a CD spindle case. The key would not work for me, it was too flimsy, but it works for some people. You can purchase an “unlock kit.” - If all you want to do is just flash the firmware, you only need to remove the six long screws on the bottom. (See Pic) Read all these guides and watch all the videos, figure out how you want to go

  • SketchUp Wavefront OBJ Exporter – Version 4.0.4
  • The SketchUp OBJ exporter extends the export capability of SketchUp by providing an additional export type in the File > Export > 3d Model dialog. OBJ is a legacy ASCII format developed by Wavefront/Alias Software. II. What’s New? • Support for positioned textures. The positioning of textures is now preserved upon export. • Support for transparent materials. The transparency of materials is now exported to the OBJ file. • Support for double-sided faces. A new option, "Export faces double-sided", has been added to the UI. This option, which allows the export of a back-side material, exports an additional face with flipped normals and reversed vertices. • Support for object hierarchy. The OBJ output now supports a flat set membership hierarchy, meaning that the format understands which objects belong to any set. It is important to note that it does not support a tree hierarchy meaning it doesn't know if one particular set is actually a component part of another set. This limitation is a limitation of the OBJ format itself. • Support for raster image objects. Raster images are now exported. • Support for object visibility. Only visible objects are output to the OBJ file. • Exported material names are now based on the name of the material in SketchUp vs. being based on the name of the underlying texture file. • A version number has been added to the OBJ Options dialog so that you can verify you are on the latest release. • In addition to the above, many bug fixes have been made. • How a neural net grows symbols
  • Brains, unlike artificial neural nets, use sym- bols to summarise and reason about perceptual input. But unlike symbolic AI, they “ground” the symbols in the data: the symbols have meaning in terms of data, not just meaning imposed by the outside user. If neural nets could be made to grow their own symbols in the way that brains do, there would be a good prospect of combining neural networks and symbolic AI, in such a way as to combine the good features of each. It is argued that the secret of growing symbols in neural nets lies in cluster analysis. Algorithms for clustering, many of them naturally implementable in neural hardware, would produce clusters, which are discrete entities summarising data that have all the properties of symbols. The war between symbolic artificial intelligence and its neural net rival continues because each has strengths that the other lacks, and it has proved impossible to combine them successfully. It is agreed that symbolic systems work well on discretely structured problems, like chess, and give a transparent understanding of what they are doing, which allows their use in new situations through adding and deleting rules. But it is difficult to make them adaptive to data, especially in situations where there is only data to go on, and almost no understanding via rules, such as face recognition. Scaling up from toy to real problems is also hard. Neural nets, on the other hand, are strong where symbolic AI is weak, and vice versa. They adapt easily

  • Creating a Windows XP Embedded Run-Time Image Tutorial
  • 1. First determine the best way to analyze the system. (Note: This is possibly the hardest step in the entire design system depending on what you are trying to design the image for.) a. If the system has a CD-ROM drive or is capable of running Windows XP/2000 then the program tap.exe will be used to create the *.pmq file. i. CD-ROM drive present: insert Disc 1 of the Windows XP Embedded Evaluation Software and boot from disc to XPE which is command prompt based, bare-minimum image. Run tap /O *.pmq from the command prompt and then restart the computer into normal operation. Analysis of the target system using this option will provide a better analysis of the minimum amount of components necessary than (ii.) due to the fact that it is being run from a bare-minimum image. ii. Windows XP/2000 capable: insert Disc 1 of the Windows XP Embedded Evaluation Software and copy the tap.exe utility to a local directory. Start Command Prompt and go to the directory you just saved tap.exe to. Run tap /O *.pmq and then exit the command prompt. b. If the system has no peripherals, the ta.exe must be used through DOS. i. Start the target system into MS-DOS mode and copy ta.exe onto the local drive from Disc 1 of the Windows XP Embedded Evaluation Software by whatever means possible (floppy, USB drive, etc…) and run ta /O *.pmq on the local drive. Then copy the file back to the means in which you put it on
  • Maya 7 Tutorial
  • The Maya interface Now that Maya is running, you first need to understand what you are seeing. There are a lot of items displayed in the Maya user interface. The best way to begin is to learn the fundamental tools and then learn additional tools as you need them. Begin by learning some of the main tools. The Maya workspace The Maya workspace is where you conduct most of your work within Maya. The workspace is the central window where your objects and most editor panels appear. When you start Maya for the first time, the workspace displays by default in a perspective window, or panel. There are the other components of the default perspective view panel: - The panel is labeled persp at the bottom to indicate that you are viewing the Maya scene from a perspective camera view. - The panel has its own menu bar at the top left corner of the panel. These menus allow you to access tools and functions related to that specific panel. - The grid is displayed with two heavy lines intersecting at the center of the Maya scene. This central location is called the origin. The origin is the center of Maya's 3D world, and with all object's directional values measured from this location. Download pdf Maya 7 Tutorial
