E-Health and the Web 2.01. E-Society and knowledge uptake in the public health sector
Generally, the health sector is one of the most knowledge-intensive sectors among all of the public service areas. Thus in this sector, the statement that “technology is the highest contributor of productivity growth” is more valid and more timely than in other publicly financed territories.
Innovation is an ability of research and the capability of applying new solutions. It is obvious that IT determines innovative capability, although innovation might stem from various fields. It has been proven a major policy simplification that more connectivity is equal to more knowledge uptake.
2. What do we mean by E-health? Since the aging European societies face enormous challenges in coping with the tension between the technologically possible and the economically affordable, IT offers significant changes in the way we might think about public healthcare services.
We define e-health as using IT technologies in order to increase the performance of public health systems without any respect on who the user is. Thus according to our definition, users might be doctors, patients, family members as well as civil servants or medical university students and teachers. The other impact of E-health is: organizational change. It is important to state that no technology can efficiently serve workflows managed by a non-cooperative staff.
3. Centralized E-health model

A key feature that arguably contributed to Facebook’s unprecedented success is its application platform, which enables the development of third-party social-networking applications. Understanding how these applications are installed and used is important for the function and utility of web-based online social networks, e.g. to better engineer them and/or to design advertising campaigns.
In this paper, we characterize the popularity and user reach of Facebook applications. We analyze application usage data gathered over a period of six months from Facebook and Adonomics - a Facebook analytics service. We also crawl publicly accessible Facebook user profiles and obtain per-user application installation statistics, for approximately 300K users and 13.6K applications. Our findings include that (i) the popularity of Facebook applications has a highly skewed distribution; (ii) although the total number of application installations increases with time, the average user activity decreases; and (iii) users with more applications installed are more likely to install new applications.
Web-based Online Social Networks (OSN), such as MySpace and Facebook (FB), are quickly emerging as a new Internet killer- application. We can view OSNs as natural extensions of Inter- net applications that establish relationships between users, such as email and IM. However, unlike those applications, OSNs not only facilitate direct communication between users but also allow them to post content that revolves around their profiles creating online personas that typically map to their real life personalities. The example used in this document is a simple service center phone bank. The source for this example is included with this document. You will not be able to compile the source yourself unless you own the CSIM19 libraries. This document assumes that readers are reasonably familiar with CSIM19 and basically proficient in Microsoft Visual Basic and Microsoft Visual C++. Obviously the methods described here are also applicable in other development environments, as long as users know their preferred development tools well enough.
The first step in this process is to create your CSIM model as you would normally. In our example, the model was first written and compiled as a standard Win32 console application using Microsoft Visual C++ 6. The original console program is included in this tutorial package and is called phone.exe. In this stage it is easy to find and fix all the bugs in the model itself without worrying about problems anywhere else. It is important to verify that the model gives the correct output at this stage, so that it will be easier to catch any bugs in the GUI later.
At this point we can design the Visual Basic interface. For our simple example, the program only really needs one, single form.
