  • You can insert the double sided keys into the locks with either side up. The dealer that sold you your new vehicle has the key code numbers for your vehicle locks. These numbers can be used to order duplicate keys from your dealer. Ask your dealer for these numbers and keep them in a safe place. Ignition Key Removal The shift lever must be in PARK. Turn the key to the OFF position, then the LOCK position. Remove the key. The Sentry Key Immobilizer System does not need to be armed or activated. Operation of the system is automatic regardless of whether or not the vehicle is locked or unlocked. During normal operation, the Theft Alarm/ Immobilizer Light will come on for three (3) seconds immediately after the ignition switch is turned on for a bulb check. Afterwards, if the bulb remains on, this indicates a problem with the electronics. If the bulb begins to flash after the bulb check, this indicates that an invalid key has been used to start the vehicle. Both of these conditions will result in the engine being shut off after two (2) seconds of running. Keep in mind that a key which has not been programmed is also considered an invalid key even if it is cut to fit the ignition lock cylinder for that vehicle. • 1. Create a ‘Helix’ spline object from the create panel. Make sure there are plenty of turns in it and that both radii are the same. 2. Add an extrude modifier and adjust the amount so it just about reaches the next coil, get it as close as possible but don’t spend ages doing it as step 4 will sort it out. 3. As you will notice the tube is inside out so add a 'Normals' modifier to flip them and turn it the right way. 4. Now as there is still a gap in-between the coils add a 'Vertex Weld' modifier and increase the value just enough to weld the gap together. 5. Now, add an 'Edit Poly' modifier and go into 'Edge' sub-object mode, then select one edge travelling the length of the tube and hit 'Ring' (Alt+R) to select the entire helix. 6. Click the small grey box next to 'Connect' in the modify panel and give the selection 1 edge segment. You will now have two spirals travelling the length of the tube. (I forgot to do an image of this stage :) 7. Select one edge of one spiral and click 'Loop' (Alt+L) in the modify panel to select the entire spiral. Then click the 'Scale' tool (R) and drag the web connecting the two width axes for the tube (shown in yellow in the image below), this will create your thread depth. • Web 2.0 Access Control Best Practices – Part 1
  • So - you are wrapping up development of yet another Web app. The database is in place, CRUD functions are working, user interface and reports have been signed off. Now your thoughts are turning to access control. Just enough time to splice in that trusty user authentication and roles module, make a few tweaks and move on to the next project. Wait! Do you really want to contribute yet another authorization stovepipe to the growing forest? We all curse the proliferation of authentication and authorization “solutions” on the Web. Yet we continue to treat access control as an after thought. Developers accept the benefits of adopting third-party solutions for common functions such as data storage, cryptography, numerical analysis, parsing, etc., yet continue to roll their own application access control solutions. Why? The disadvantages of RYO are obvious: application-specific user accounts and passwords proliferate, each application reinvents how roles should be implemented -- perhaps even a language for specifying access constraints -- and, if integration with an external authentication framework is required, each application must implement interfaces to the drivers. This is irritating to our users, a headache for those who administer the applications, and costly to maintain. In this article we develop a set of Web 2.0 best practices for “outsourcing” the access control problem. Following these practices produces applications that readily integrate into an organization’s existing access control infrastructure, and simplifies application development and maintenance. Examples are based on DACS (http://dacs.dss.ca) – the Distributed Access Control System. DACS is a mature, lightweight
  • MySQL and Perl, the marriage of convenience
  • MySQL and Perl have been around for quite a while. They are still widely used even if the "fashion" is changing. This article talks about these two products working together as a whole, either on the Internet or on your local network. The provided example is written for Unix systems, free or not, even if it can be adapted to other widespread "systems". What this article is : a small review of what can be done with this pair, showing ease of use, speed, reliability, security... What this article is not : neither a MySQL tutorial nor a Perl tutorial; neither a MySQL review nor a Perl review. Accordingly, we’ll see MySQL at work in combination with Perl, without forgetting that "there is more than one way to do it". What about this nice pair ? MySQL is a Relational DataBase Management System (RDBMS) available from http://www.mysql.com. It’s released under GNU GPL for free depending on what it is used for. Check the licensing policy on the MySQL’s website. It works either as a server or a client on many platforms. A few other RDBMS exist as free software and we won’t make any comparisons since the choice of MySQL for this article is arbitrary. Neither will we compare to the big "commercial" guns such as Informix, Oracle, Sybase... It is enough to say that MySQL is probably one of the most widely used DBM on the Internet. For this article we’ll use the version 3.23.36 (again, arbitrarily). At the time of this writing, the

  • You’re on a plane and desperately need to pass a file to (or play Quake against) your coworker. You both have Ethernet jacks, but there’s no net- work available to you. You both have wireless cards, but transmitter/receivers are a no-no aboard airliners. She has a floppy drive, but your iBook has never heard of these floppy things. You have a USB drive, but the file’s mas- sive. And you’re fresh out of CDs, or you’d simply burn one and pass it across. Oh, and she’s running Windows. If you have an Ethernet cable handy, you can plug one end into the Ethernet jack of each of your machines, open your System Preferences Network pane, and select Built-in Ethernet from the Show pull-down menu. If at least one of the computers is a Macintosh of recent vin- tage (PowerBook G4, iMac 17”, or iBook, at the time of this writing), you don’t even need one of those special crossover Ethernet cables. • ISDN Connect Data and Voice Terminal Adapter User Manual
  • The CONNECT is a Terminal Adapter (TA), i.e. the ISDN equivalent of a modem on the PSTN (the analogue telephone network). It allows standard serial data terminals (DTEs), such as personal computers, to be interconnected across the ISDN. The CONNECT is as easy to install and use as a modem and will operate with all existing terminals and communications applications that use the Hayes Standard AT Command Set. In addition, the CONNECT has an analogue interface port that emulates a standard PSTN line. This port allows devices such as a phone, fax, or answer-phone to make calls over your ISDN line. An ISDN connection provides three potential communications channels. Two (’B') Channels provide links running at 64000 bps which give greater throughput than the fastest modem. These ‘B’ Channel links support calls to other ISDN lines or (for voice calls) other PSTN analogue lines. The third link is a lower speed ‘D’ Channel data link, that allows calls to be made to a third party data network such as a public packet switch network. It is possible to have several ISDN devices sharing a single ISDN line through a facility known as the ‘S’ Bus. This allows all the connected devices to contend for the channels and to be separately addressable. The CONNECT range supports all these ISDN services. An ISDN line can support ‘data’ and ‘voice’ calls. In general ‘data’ calls are those made from the CONNECT’s data port. ‘Voice’ calls are calls made from the CONNECT’s analogue port. On
