The simplest network is the LAN, the Local Area Network. These computers are in the same office or building. A LAN can have virtually any number of computers. You make a LAN when you connect two computers together in your office or at home.
When computers in different buildings or cities are connected together, the network is called a WAN or Wide Area Network. A WAN can be comprised of individual computers and LAN’s.
The Internet is a network of networks. There are two fundamental types of computers on the Internet, servers and clients. A server is a computer specifically set up to serve its files (make its files available for viewing or download) to client computers. A client is any computer you use to access the Internet: desktop, laptop, handheld, cell phone, etc. The files a server makes available to your computer can be web pages, videos, sounds, images, etc. For your home computer to be able to receive files or any data from a server, your computer must request this information. This happens when you enter an URL in your browser or when you receive e-mail.
Any computer can be set up as a server or a client. Without the proper safeguards, anyone can access the files on your personal computer when it is connected to the Internet. When walking or running, the character should stay at a constant height from the FloorRef object. When jumping, the Character should increase it’s distance from the FloorRef object to give the appearance of translation away from the floor. Characters should ALSO have a “stationary root” that only moves relative to the floor reference (e.g. for walking, jumping etc.) but that does not move constantly (i.e. in an idle animation the root should not move). This is very important if you wish to use your Characters with the Virtools Mulituser Pack, or the dead reckoning algorithm used for predicting distributed objects will not work correctly.
In short: Make sure the (stationary) root element does not move at all when the character is in its default (’wait’ or ‘idle’) animation. For other animations make sure the root moves a minimum; in a walk animation along the Z axis for example, make sure that the root moves along the Z axis only - there should be no movement on the X or Y axes. Note: Ensure the animations you create are ‘real’ in the sense that the Character actually performs them and does not ‘pretend’ to perform them - e.g. for a walk animation you should ensure that your character actually moves (translates) in your modeling application, and does not perform the animation in situ (”on the spot” or “in place”).

Very often, however, the dimensionality and complexity of decision problems reach far beyond human’s capabilities while the cost of a poor decision may be rather high. Therefore, there is a need in software support to the decision making process, and, in response, a wide variety of software tools, from tools for building graphs and charts to expert systems and intelligent agents, are offered as decision support systems. The reason for this variety is the compound, multi-faceted nature of the decision making process.
The most widely accepted generalisation of the decision-making process was introduced by Simon [25], who divided the process into three major phases: intelligence, design, and choice. The intelligence phase involves data collection, integration, pre-processing, and exploration with the aim to identify the problems or opportunities. During the design phase, one looks for a set of possible solutions to the problem(s) identified in the intelligence phase and analyses the options thus found. During the choice phase, the options are evaluated and analysed in relation to others, and a particular option or a set of options is selected. Typically, a decision-maker must account for multiple, often conflicting, evaluation criteria, and the final decision results from an explicit or implicit trade-off. At any point in the decision-making process, it may be necessary to loop back to an earlier phase.
