Download ET180 Pocket PC Phone User’s Guide ManualTraits in CSharpThe main focus of this work is on identifying interesting and important aspects of introducing traits to CSharp. We also identify required and optional features for statically typed languages as well as conflict situations. The implementation presented in this paper is a simple prototype (a preprocessor) based on the trait flattening property [9]. It is meant to be a study case for a clean implementation.
The main problem concerning traits and statically typed languages like CSharp is about typing traits and to keep the ability to share code easily. Many approaches already exist in theory. This practical work contributes to the research about traits by presenting a simple prototype, showing the possibilities and difficulties in integrating traits in statically typed languages.
Although the focus of this work is on CSharp most of the results are directly applicable to other typed object-oriented languages. The implemented “trait flattening framework”, kept mostly language independent, would also work for most other c-like languages (with only slight modification).
Section 2 shortly introduces traits. The following sections cover the basics about CSharp, give a short overview about a first dirty-prototype done in CSharp itself and contain some more extensive descriptions, results and practical research by doing the final implementation using Smalltalk.

AutoCAD Map 3D bridges CAD and GIS by providing direct access to data, regardless of how it is stored, and by enabling the use of AutoCAD® tools for maintaining a broad variety of geospatial information.
Using Open Source FDO Data Access Technology, AutoCAD Map 3D natively accesses spatial data stored in relational databases, files, and Web-based services, providing easy management of large geospatial data sets while streamlining entire workflows.
The topics in this section describe what you can accomplish with AutoCAD Map 3D.
The Autodesk Feature Data Objects (FDO) Data Access Technology helps you work seamlessly on a variety of spatial and nonspatial databases and file formats natively, without the need for translation and risk of data loss. These data sources may contain a single feature type, such as parcel or street centerline, or may contain a complex data model with multiple features and attribute tables. AutoCAD Map 3D automatically resolves differences in scale and coordinate systems.
Add items such as the following:
? AutoCAD drawing objects
? Spatial features stored in a relational database, such as Microsoft® SQL Server, Oracle® Spatial, and MySQL
? Features stored in a spatial data file format, such as an ESRI ®SHP or Autodesk® SDF file
? Features stored in middleware, such as ESRI® ArcSDE®
? Raster images, including DEM surfaces that show elevation
? Web-based images from WFS and WMS
? Attribute or point data stored in a spreadsheet or database that can be linked to drawing objects

Setting up the drawing: Drawing Limits, Zoom All
How big is your site or object? Always consider the real sizes in metres (or mm or whatever) of the overall site, in plan, measuring width then height. (x,y dimensions). We are going to make a coloured flag, we will be thinking in millimetres, so it should fit into an area of 3000mmx2000mm
Pick: Format, Drawing Limits
Accept the lower-left limit (Press Enter ¿ ) then type in 3000,2000¿ to define a new upper-right limit

We want to make it clear in discussing these issues that we are only speaking from the point of view of novice programmers. Experienced programmers might well have very different views.
First, console input presents a problem: input() is not appropriate for strings and raw_input() either requires dealing with types and typecasting or puts us back in the realm of magic. In our experience getting input is one of the largest sources of errors for Python beginners. This has lead to our writing a simple input function which returns an integer, float or string, depending on the input string. (See example on http://tech.canterburyschool.org/pycon/) This function handles our students' needs but does have the disadvantage of not being part of the language “out of the box”.
A second and related issue for novices is the way Python handles types. In contrast to the rigid insistence upon type compatibility found in C++ and Java, Python seems less predictable to the beginner. Type compatibility is not needed for assignment, is needed logically, but not syntactically, for the comparison and equality operators, and is required for the + operator. Confusion about this behavior is probably the second most common source of errors for inexperienced programmers.
Finally, in common with C++ and Java, Python has different operators for assignment and equality, even though its syntax enforces correct usage. ThisStatically Detecting Likely Buffer Overflow VulnerabilitiesBuffer overflow attacks may be today’s single most important security threat. This paper presents a new approach to mitigating buffer overflow vulnerabilities by detecting likely vulnerabilities through an analysis of the program source code. Our approach exploits information provided in semantic comments and uses lightweight and efficient static analyses. This paper describes an implementation of our approach that extends the LCLint annotation-assisted static checking tool.
Our tool is as fast as a compiler and nearly as easy to use. We present experience using our approach to detect buffer overflow vulnerabilities in two security-sensitive programs. Buffer overflow attacks are an important and persistent security problem. Buffer overflows account for approximately half of all security vulnerabilities [CWPBW00, WFBA00]. Richard Pethia of CERT identified buffer overflow attacks as the single most im- portant security problem at a recent software engineering conference [Pethia00]; Brian Snow of the NSA predicted that buffer overflow attacks would still be a problem in twenty years [Snow99].

This information is not copyrighted (especially since I have borowed logos and trademarked names) so feel free to share it. Version 1.2 January 30, 2002 I was very frustrated! After creating six “coasters”, I thought there was no way to burn a bootable Mac CD using Toast. I followed their directions, the help I found on the Toast web site was unclear, and I downloaded someone else s instructions and just couldn’t do it.
While I’m not a computer expert, I have used Mac’s since (this dates me) 1985 and can probably do better troubleshooting and mechanical work than the geek that charges $75 an hour. So I poked around, put together the pieces of the puzzle and burned a bootable Mac OS CD. While I was doing that, I wrote this to help anyone else who was as frustrated as I was. Yes, it’s lengthy and detailed but if you follow step-by-step you won’t have any “coasters”. If you find any errors or omissions feel free to email me at thofts@mac.com. Thanks! - - Tom PS - Please keep the “stuffed” copy of this in your SHARED FOLDER so others on the network can get to it when I’m offline. –Thanks!
