Try the solutions one at a time, in the order in which they are presented. You can also find technical tips and software updates for the notebook at the HP Business Support web site (www.hp.com/go/bizsupport).
Audio Problems
If no sound is audible
• Press Fn+Page Up several times.
• Click the speaker icon in the taskbar (if present), and make sure Mute is not checked and the Volume slider is not set to the bottom.
• Double-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and make sure the audio source is not muted. If the source is not displayed, click Options, Properties, and select the source from the volume control list.
If sound does not record
• Make sure the microphone is securely connected to the microphone jack.
• Check the software controls for recording sound: Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Multimedia (or Entertainment), Sound Recorder.
• Double-click the speaker symbol in the taskbar. Then click Options, Properties, and make sure the microphone is enabled in the recording controls.
• Test the audio with the e-Diagtools diagnostics— see “Using the e-Diagtools Diagnostic Tests” on page 25.

WPF/E). The idea behind Silverlight is simple -- provide a cross-browser, cross-platform technology for 2D vector graphics, animations and DRM high-definition media. Currently, Microsoft is targeting the Mac using either Firefox or Safari and Windows using IE6/IE7 or Firefox.
There are actually two different versions of Silverlight currently available. The first, 1.0 (beta), utilizes the same XAML tags as WPF to describe the visual appearance and animations for content. It uses Javascript to control the behavior of those elements by allowing Javascript functions to locate and manipulate properties of the elements created in XAML. This release targets web developers as it uses many of the technologies they are familiar with and use in their development today.
The second version, 1.1 (alpha) was announced at MIX '07 and it adds a CLR engine to the implementation - allowing the code behind to be done in C# or VB.NET instead of Javascript. This will radically change the playing field, as it will open up rich-client web applications to a wide audience of .NET developers.
The first step in using either version of Silverlight is to download the appropriate browser plug-in. You can get these from the Silverlight website http://www.silverlight.net. Both 1.0 and 1.1 versions have Mac and Windows implementations available. If you want to use Visual Studio .NET to do your development, then you should download the Orcas Beta release and the project template for Silverlight.

Here, we discuss the role of the next generation SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, referred to as SCWS (Smart card web server) SIM within Mobile Web 2.0. To explain the background, this document includes other sections from the book so that it becomes as complete document in itself.
Synopsis and key ideas
The key ideas behind this chapter are:
• Web 2.0 has already evolved to Cloud computing.
• Inspite of the notion of a ‘Web only’ processing, the cloud needs a client (as is now apparent from the deployment of a browser like Chrome from Google).
• For a mobile ecosystem, there are two possibilities for a Cloud client; The device or The SIM since both are at the edge of the network(for simplicity we discuss a cellular network only i.e. not Wimax, WiFi etc)
• From a network Operator perspective, the SCWS SIM offers a possibility to be the client for the mobile cloud for reasons that we discuss in this chapter.
• The SCWS SIM technology also offers the possibility of accessing mass market devices.

Web 2.0 and MobileThe Importance of C# Within the Microsoft .NET FrameworkThe Microsoft .NET software platform integrates various aspects of software development. In .NET applications can be written in a variety of programming languages and can be either stand-alone or web-based. A lab module for CS 453 Electronic Commerce Technologies was developed that instructs students on how to develop complex e-commerce websites using the programming language C# within the Microsoft .NET framework. This project and thesis provided insight into the power of C# and the .NET framework. Student evaluations were constructive and positive overall. There were many good suggestions for expansion of the C# lab module.
The Microsoft .NET software platform integrates various aspects of software development. The .NET framework is installed on all machines that contain applications designed in the Visual Studio .NET Integrated Development Environment (IDE). This IDE allows software developers to create fully deployable applications. These applications can be written in a variety of programming languages and can be either stand-alone or web-based. The programming language C# (pronounced see-sharp) is a central language in .NET that evolved from the languages Java and C++.
C# and the Microsoft .NET framework has advantages over older languages that make it worth learning. Because there is very little support for C# and the .NET framework in the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science, few UVA students graduate with basic knowledge of this technology. This problem must be rectified so UVA graduates can be effective in the IT industry.
