  • MrSID Macintosh Stand Alone Viewer
  • The MrSID Stand Alone Viewer displays images that have been encoded into the MrSID format. Each MrSID image file contains data from multiple resolutions stored in a single pixel database. The MrSID Viewer starts viewing an image at the smallest resolution view, and allows complete control to zoom, pan, navigate and investigate through larger and smaller zoom levels. The Viewer uses Selective Decompression” to decode only the portion of an image necessary for viewing. This makes rapid viewing of large images possible, while maintaining maximum image quality. With the MrSID Stand Alone Viewer, you can also export any part of the image to TIFF at any resolution. The MrSID Stand Alone Viewer is available at no charge for individual use, so that the largest possible number of people have the ability to view MrSID imagery. • AutoCAD LT Quick Start Guide
  • This guide is intended to supply the AutoCAD LT user with a tutorial and reference for quickly gaining proficiency with the AutoCAD LT software layout tool. Similar to the L-Edit guide, this guide does not provide an exhaustive reference to all the features of AutoCAD LT, as a complete documentation of these features is provided in the AutoCAD LT Help menu. Since this guide is focused on layout-driven design, many of AutoCAD’s features are superfluous as it is geared toward a very wide range of CAD applications. For layout, only a few features are required, which accelerates the learning curve of AutoCAD. User Interface The user interface provided by AutoCAD LT is similar to that of many other CAD and layout design software packages. Upon starting AutoCAD LT, a dialog is displayed asking whether the user wants to open or create a drawing. For the purposes of layout, we will “Start from Scratch” and create a metric drawing. Select this option from the menu as shown below. At this point AutoCAD LT will display a white drawing area with a set of toolbars. The important buttons and features on these toolbars are shown in the figure below. Again, since we are only concerned with layout, the majority of AutoCAD’s design tools will be unnecessary. • The RFC API SAP Reference Guide
  • RFC with External Systems In the SAP System, the ability to call remote functions is provided by the Remote Function Call (RFC) interface. This interface allows for remote calls between two SAP Systems (R/3 as of Release 2.1 and R/2 as of Release 5.0D), or between an SAP System and a non-SAP system. The present section describes how to write RFC partner programs that run in non-SAP Systems. If you are writing RFC programs in an SAP System, see RFC-Programming in ABAP [Ext.]. Client and Server Programs RFC programs for non-SAP Systems can function as either the caller or the called program in an RFC communication. There are two kinds of RFC programs: RFC client and RFC server programs: The RFC client is the instance that calls up the RFC to execute the function which is provided by an RFC server. In the following, the functions that can be executed remotely will be called RFC functions, and the functions provided by the RFC API will be called RFC calls. How to implement external RFC programs You have two options for implementing external RFC programs: • Use programs generated by the RFC Interface Generator (see The RFC Generator [Ext.]. These are stub programs you can install on your workstation or PC to call up SAP function modules. The RFC Interface Generator in the SAP System lets you generate the stubs and download them to your machine. Download PDF for The RFC API SAP Reference Guide

  • Binding xamDataGrid in Expression Blend and Visual Studio
  • Microsoft Expression Blend is an application that generates XAML (Extensible Application Markup Language) via a user interface. Blend is designed to create all of the WPF UI (User Interface) elements such as windows, buttons, grid, and brushes on a designer surface. Blend will then emit all the necessary XAML code. Blend is a designer tool, so you still use Visual Studio 2005 to write the application code. (Note: If you have the next version of Visual Studio, codenamed “Orcas,” installed, you don’t need to install the Visual Studio Extensions for WPF or the .NET Framework 3.) Using the xamDataGrid in Blend 1. Launch Visual Studio 2005. 2. Start a New Project. 3. Select NET Framework 3.0 Windows Application (WPF) (VB or C#) as in Figure 1. 4. Add a reference to Infragistics WPF controls and supporting API as in Figure 2. 5. Build the Solution and Save all. As yet the Infragistics controls are not available in the toolbox to drag onto the design surface. We will achieve this by using Microsoft’s Expression Blend. 6. Start Blend and open the project just created. Note that Blend can read Visual Studio Solution files. Browse to where you saved the solution file and open it. You should see your solution displayed similar to Figure 3 in Blend. To access the Infragistics controls click on the button marked in red, the controls are in the Asset Library. • Network Effects and Microsoft
  • The economic theory of network effects has received a great deal of sustained attention, as it appears to capture some of the most important features of modern high tech industries. The positive implications of the theory are important for understanding the structure of those industries, especially over time. They include positive feedback in the decision rules of individual actors, indeterminacy of equilibrium, lock-in to particular network standards, first-mover advantages or barriers to entry, high inertia for established standards but high volatility for nascent ones, and strategic competition that is intense in the period of establishing a network standard, then largely absent after lock-in. This is not the simplest body of implications to test, for two reasons. As the theory involves strong elements of positive feedback and the resulting coordination, econometric testing faces severe difficulties associated with distinguishing the behavior of different actors. Another critical implication of the theory, multiple equilibria and the resulting indeterminacy, poses very difficult problems for the empirical scholar of attempting to observe what didn‘t happen. This paper tests the theory by looking at business documents from the Microsoft antitrust case. While the documents are public because attorneys thought they would be useful in the policy context of a trial, my use is entirely positive, not normative. The unique perspective offered by internal documents gives us an opportunity to examine the relationship between the theory and the marketplace in several ways. Microsoft is a very analytical firm, and thinks of itself as involved in complex strategic games involving many
