  • KM2.0: Business Knowledge Sharing in the Web 2.0 Age
  • This paper is intended to discuss the impact of Web 2.0 on knowledge management (KM) and the future orientation of KM. These days, the term KM is used rather less than hitherto. However, as Web 2.0 has made its debut and user participation-type culture has expanded, the new concept of “collective intelligence” has been attracting attention. Opinions are currently being advanced with regard to the concept and process of KM and the system architecture that can be used to implement it. This paper also deals with the issue of knowledge provision, a traditional issue of KM, and introduces a KM model in the context of the Web 2.0 age that can expand collective intelligence in a positive spiral by closely linking it to knowledge extraction from various communication tools and job systems. In his paper “What is Web 2.0” 1), which was announced in September 2005 and is currently attracting wide attention, Tim O’Reilly proposed the concept of Web 2.0. This concept is also exerting an important impact on the field of knowledge management (KM). The concept of KM became popular in early 1990’s, and many experts in business management made a large number of proposals in the domain of corporate education and knowledge creation and many managers and employees who were in sympathy with the concept conducted attempts in the field. Subsequently, the term KM became rather less popular as the 21st century began but the expansion of a user- participation type culture stimulated by Web 2.0 has brought the

  • Jade Tutorial Application - Defined Content Languages and Ontologies
  • When an agent A communicates with another agent B, a certain amount of information I is transferred from A to B by means of an ACL message. Inside the ACL message, I is represented as a content expression consistent with a proper content language (e.g. SL) and encoded in a proper format (e.g. string). Both A and B have their own (possibly different) way of internally representing I. Taking into account that the way an agent internally represents a piece information must allow an easy handling of that piece of information, it is quite clear that the representation used in an ACL content expression is not suitable for the inside of an agent. For example the information that there is a person whose name is Giovanni and who is 33 years old in an ACL content expression could be represented as the string (Person :name Giovanni :age 33) Storing this information inside an agent simply as a string variable is not suitable to handle the information as e.g. getting the age of Giovanni would require each time to parse the string. Considering software agents written in Java (as JADE agents are), information can conveniently be represented inside an agent as Java objects. For example representing the above information about Giovanni as an instance (a Java object) of an application-specific class Download Jade Tutorial Application - Defined Content Languages and Ontologies
  • GT 050Q Quick Guide
  • The GT 050Q is a fixed-mount tabletop drive with a quad interface, utilizing FW400, FW800, USB 2.0 and eSATA connections. Depending on which port(s) your computer has, you can connect the GT 050Q in a number of ways. You’re probably already familiar with FireWire 400 and USB, so we’ll tell you a little about FireWire 800 and eSATA. FireWire 800 Facts • FireWire 800 supports speeds up to 800 Mb/sec, twice as fast as FireWire 400. • If your computer does not have built-in FireWire 800, you'll need a PCI card to achieve a true FireWire 800 connection. • Most 800 ports are Bi-Lingual, which means they speak both FireWire 400 and FireWire 800. • If you connect a 400 device to an 800 device, you will be running at 400 speed maximum. • FireWire is forward-compatible and back-compatible, but the bus always runs at the speed of the slowest link. • Beta cables are used to connect 800 devices to 800 devices. • Bi-Lingual cables are available to connect 400 devices to 800 devices. • Bi-Lingual cables have a 9-pin Bi-Lingual connector at one end and a 4-pin or 6-pin FireWire 400 connector at the other end eSATA Facts • eSATA is an external interface technology that grew from the internal SATA I interface. • The GT 050Q’s eSATA port supports speeds up to 1.5 Gb/sec (150 MB/sec), much faster than FireWire 400 or FireWire 800. • Shielded eSATA cables up to 2 meters in length are available. • eSATA cables are different than SATA I cables, they are shielded and cannot

  • Virtools Tutorial: How to Setup 2D and 3D Sound in Your Scene
  • This tutorial shows how to playback and how to script sounds inside a virtual space. We will use the Wav and Mp3 sounds files included in the following sound folder. Please note that wav files will be used for looping a short and repetitive sound for example the rain. The mp3 compression allows to play longer sound files for example a song or background music. A basic sound file can be saved in your Resource folder and imported into Virtools by drag and drop like the other assets. The sound file is placed in Level Manager > sound > Rain.wav. Go to Level Manager > sounds > Rain, Right.click on Rain.wav. In the Sound Setup , you can playback the sound, Step 1, or you can tweak Pitch, Gain, Pan, the sound parameters. These parameters are interactive BB in Virtools. Part 1 - Simple 2D Sound Playback In some cases, several flat background sounds or 2D sounds are all what you need. Sound file formats inside the Level Manager > sound folder can be played with the Wave Player BB. Sound from the Wave Player can be looped and turned on and off. • Converting Geometry Between BRL-CAD and Other Formats
  • Since 1979, the U.S. Army Research Laboratory* has been developing and distributing the Ballistic Research Laboratory - Computer-Aided Design (BRL-CAD) three-dimensional (3-D) solid modeling package to support combat vehicle vulnerability studies and various other military and industrial applications. The software, which is now in its third generation, includes a large collection of tools and utilities, including an interactive geometry editor, raytracing and generic framebuffer libraries, network-distributed image-processing/signal-processing capabilities, and an embedded scripting language. In support of the package, a multivolume tutorial series is being written to assist users with the many features and functionality of BRL-CAD. Three volumes have been published thus far. Volume I provides an overview of the package contents and installation (Butler and Edwards, 2002). Volume II addresses the basic functionality of the package’s Multi-Device Geometry Editor (MGED) and offers a comprehensive list of the user commands available (Butler et al., 2001). Volume III discusses the modeling process as well as principles and techniques to help maximize BRL-CAD’s effectiveness (Butler et al., 2003). All of these documents are available for download at (U.S. Army Research Laboratory, 2003). The purpose of Volume IV is to discuss issues of compatibility and conversion between the BRL-CAD geometry file format and the formats of various other computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and computer-aided engineering (CAE) packages. Conversion is increasingly important for BRL-CAD users who must interact with a growing number of Government and commercial organizations involved in the research, development, testing, and evaluation of today’s combat systems. Note that this document addresses

  • What Are Facebook Applications?
  • Facebook applications are programs developed to make people come close, interact, have fun with friends and others and earn money. These applications are designed to make people stay up-to-date of what is happening around, like, a user can find out when his/her favorite band is launching new album? Or, has Marks & Spencer launched its new designs? Advantages of Having a Facebook Application Consumers are not comprehensively cognizant of all the international brands, and for that, they ask and trust other people and their networks. This fact gives rise to the use of blogs and other means of interaction, especially, the social networks. Facebook is a platform that offers you an opportunity to remain associated with other people and exchange ideas or inquire about a product or service. The biggest advantage of using facebook applications is that you can promote your brand and make more money out of it. You can spread and print your brand in user’s networks or make your own application to focus your product or service. Another advantage of using Facebook is that you get a chance to meet you childhood friends.
