  • Cellpipe 20A User's Guide
  • The CellPipe 20A is a high-speed Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) device that supports bridging over ATM. It supports RFC1483 Multiprotocol over AAL5. You can use the CellPipe 20A to create a dedicated, physical connection to Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) equipment at the telephone company. You first attach your computer or Ethernet hub to the CellPipe 20A. Then, you connect the unit to a standard telephone line. The other end of the line connects to DSL equipment at the telephone company. Your DSL circuit is dedicated to your CellPipe unit. With DSL, you have the capacity to transfer data at very high rates. The actual rate can vary according to the type of CellPipe you use, the distance between the CellPipe and the DSL equipment, and the line quality of the connection. You can use DSL technology for Internet access, telecommuting, remote office connectivity, multimedia, and videoconferencing. CellPipe 20A features The CellPipe 20A includes the following features: • ATM over ADSL through a single copper twisted-pair telephone line • 10/100 MB Ethernet (Auto-detect) • High-speed bridging • DMT-based standards • Support for ATM AAL5 (ATM Adaptation Layer Type 5) • Support for VC-based multiplexing and LLC encapsulation of RFC1483 • Autonegotiating rate adaptation • Ease of use • Easy configuration CellPipe 20A management The CellPipe 20A is managed through a command-line interface. You set up a serial connection and use VT100 emulation software to display configuration information on your computer monitor and use the computer to enter any changes. You can use the command-line interface to change the VPI and VCI value, and the
  • Google Desktop Query API Developer Guide
  • The Query API described in the first part of this document was introduced with Google Desktop 3. We cover how to use it with both native plug-ins and script-based plug-ins, and assume that you are familiar with the general principles of how to write Desktop plug-ins. The latter part of this document describes methods for issuing Desktop search queries using HTTP and XML. This XML-based API is supported by both the Windows and Mac OS X versions of Google Desktop. Mac OS X support was added in Google Desktop Mac 1.0.3. You can only use the Query API if you have registered with it and thus obtained a Query API registration cookie. Note that this is in addition to the general registration of your plug-in with Google Desktop. There are two types of Query API registration cookies, read-only and read-write. Usually, you'll only need a read-only cookie. The read-write cookie is only needed when you remove an item from the Google Desktop index. We recommend that your plug-in encrypt the registration cookie when it saves it, and, of course, be able to decrypt it when you pass it to the various Query API methods and objects. You'll need a global identifier (GUID) for your plug-in to pass to the registration method. You can use a tool such as guidgen.exe to generate. Download pdf Google Desktop Query API Developer Guide

  • Building a Mini-Sumo Robot
  • Building a mini-sumo robot using the IntelliBrain™ robotics controller is a great way for you to learn about robotics and Java™ software development. The RoboJDE™ Java-enabled robotics software development environment (included with IntelliBrain) allows you to download the example mini-sumo robot application discussed here into your IntelliBrain controller. With RoboJDE you can modify the example mini-sumo application or write your own mini-sumo program to improve the competitiveness of the robot. Mini-sumo is a competition between robots based on Japanese wrestling – “sumo” is the Japanese word for wrestling. Similar to traditional sumo matches, two opponents (robots) face each other in a ring named a dohyo – see Figure 1. The object is to stay in the ring while pushing the opposing robot out of the ring. The robot that stays in the ring the longest wins the match. Mini-sumo robots are small autonomous mobile robots designed specifically for sumo style competition. The mini-sumo robot competition rules restrict the robot length and width to 10 cm x 10 cm, but do not restrict its height. In addition, the robot cannot weigh more than 500 grams. Unlike larger battle robots, mini-sumo robots are not allowed to damage the opponent robot, they are only allowed to push it off the dohyo. All the hardware components you will need to build the robot discussed here are readily available. A mini-sumo robot can be assembled in a few hours or less. Once you have assembled your robot, you can load the mini-sumo example program included with the RoboJDE

  • Lockr: Social Access Control for Web 2.0
  • Sharing personal content online is surprisingly hard despite the recent emergence of a huge number of content sharing systems and sites. These systems suffer from several drawbacks: they each have a different way of providing access control which cannot be used with other systems; moving to a new system is a lengthy process and requires registration and invitation of all one’s friends to the new system; and the rules for access control are complicated and become more so as our networks of online friends grow. In this paper, we present Lockr–an access control scheme based on social relationships that makes sharing personal content easy. Lockr separates social networking information from the content sharing mechanisms, thereby eliminating the need for users to maintain many site-specific copies of their social networks. We describe Lockr’s design, security properties, and limitations. We also present how we integrated Lockr with two popular systems for sharing content online – BitTorrent and Flickr. Today, sharing personal content is surprisingly difficult. Current systems suffer from a number of drawbacks. They are cumbersome to use, they impose artificial limits on the size of shared content (e.g., pictures and video), and they make it difficult to restrict content only to a specific set of users. For those Web sites that do provide access control, they typically require all the participants to be registered with the site in question. This imposes the burden that users must register with many sites, and maintain separate and potentially inconsistent copies of their social networks for each
  • Advanced Tools for Operators at Amazon.com
  • Despite significant efforts in the field of Autonomic Computing, system operators will still play a critical role in administering Internet services for many years to come. However, very little is know about how system operators work, what tools they use and how we can make them more efficient. In this paper we study the practices of operators in a large-scale Internet service Amazon.com and propose a new set of tools for operators. The first tool lets the operators explore the health of system components and dependencies between them; the other monitors the actions of operators and automatically suggests solutions to recurring problems. Large-scale Internet services invest significant amount of time and money to achieve high availability of their service, typically in the form of labor-intensive monitoring and response teams. Despite the high human resource expenditures, software and hardware failures still occur, and the human-intensive approach to monitoring and troubleshooting scales poorly as the service’s complexity and workload grow [1]. We hypothesize that the right kind of visualization and automation can reduce the human effort required for monitoring and repairing failures, allow operators to more quickly recognize a problem as recurrent, and facilitate better knowledge transfer in quickly-growing or high-turnover teams. One of the authors spent three months working alongside the Amazon.com team responsible for real-time monitoring of hardware and software and for providing monitoring tools for the rest of the company. We collected quantitative data via interviews and surveys and analyzed the data in the trouble ticket database that contains information about
  • Dell Precision M6300 Review pdf
  • When it comes to mobile computing systems few companies are able to claim families of products so successful as Dell which just announced the 10th anniversary of the Precision lineup and the company decided to launch a special edition laptop just for this occasion. The Precision M6300 notebook is here now to replace the older Precision M90 model and it is aimed at the business market. From the outside the new Dell laptop, the Precision M6300, features a “Road Ready” chassis design based on a magnesium alloy casing which allowed the manufacturing company to reduce the total weight of the laptop. On the hardware department, the Precision M6300 is based on Intel’s mobile computing platform, the Santa Rosa. As a central processing unit the M6300 comes equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo X7900 CPU which has a standard running frequency of 2.8GHz as well as a frontside bus speed of 800MHz. • Google's Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide
  • Welcome to Google's Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide. This document first began as an effort to help teams within Google, but we thought it'd be just as useful to webmasters that are new to the topic of search engine optimization and wish to improve their sites' interaction with both users and search engines. Although this guide won't tell you any secrets that'll automatically rank your site first for queries in Google (sorry!), following the best practices outlined below will make it easier for search engines to both crawl and index your content. Search engine optimization is often about making small modifications to parts of your website. When viewed individually, these changes might seem like incremental improvements, but when combined with other optimizations, they could have a noticeable impact on your site's user experience and performance in organic search results. You're likely already familiar with many of the topics in this guide, because they're essential ingredients for any webpage, but you may not be making the most out of them. Even though this guide's title contains the words "search engine", we'd like to say that you should base your optimization decisions first and foremost on what's best for the visitors of your site. They're the main consumers of your content and are using search engines to find your work. Focusing too hard on specific tweaks to gain ranking in the organic results of search engines may not deliver the desired results. Search engine optimization is about putting your site's best foot forward when
  • Dungeon Siege, Legends of Aranna and In the Name of the King Games Cheats Hints & Trainer PC
  • The famous game designer for his contribution to the gaming world Total Annihilation, Chris Taylor bravely led his team at Gas Powered Games to set the bases for yet another successful series – Dungeon Siege (GPG is now developing a highly anticipated RTS following TA’s legacy – Supreme Commander). Dungeon Siege was welcomed as a rewarding addition to the RPG genre and soon the farmer that set on the path to save the Kingdom of Ehb became a well known character to the fans of this genre. The medieval fantasy world with rich geographic regions proved to be a great place for the shy farmer to turn into a genuine hero (or heroine). The action-RPG style (Diablo like) received a favorable response from the gaming community and soon, two expansion packs followed: Legends of Aranna and In the Name of the King. Three years later also came out the sequel Dungeon Siege II to continue the story started by the events in Legends of Aranna. As the hack-and-slash action continues, feel free to ease your task a little (or just enjoy a few moments of fun) by making use of some of the following cheats. You will need to press ENTER during the game to bring up the console then type down the codes. Please make sure you type in front of the code a “+” in case you want to activate the specified cheat or a “-” in case you wish to deactivate the cheat. Useful codes: zool –
