  • Guide to Buying a Scooter or Powered Wheelchair PDF
  • What is a powered wheelchair or a scooter? We probably recognise them when we see them, but what are the features, the differences and the legal aspects? l The law There is legislation that separates scooters and powered wheelchairs in to categories Class 2 vehicles and Class 3 vehicles. Technically they are still called invalid carriages ! CLASS 2 Class 2 vehicles, which are sometimes referred to as pavement vehicles , are designed for use on the footway, which is defined as: a portion of a carriageway that is set aside for use only by pedestrians . They are not allowed on roads other than to cross them and are limited to a maximum speed of 4mph. l Scooter Scooters are by far the more common of the powered mobility aids we see on our streets. They have three or four wheels and are steered using a handlebar, rather like a cycle. They have a battery pack and power from this drives motors on all or some of the wheels. Controls on the handlebar regulate speed and may include switches for a horn and lights. There is a single seat and there may be some provision to carry shopping or a bag in a basket or panniers. Powered wheelchairs look at least to some extent like a traditional wheelchair. They have between four and six wheels and a battery pack. Control of steering and speed is nearly always from a small joystick. There may be auxiliary
  • Laser Cutter Tutorial - AutoCAD
  • There are now two laser cutters available to you; the V-460 has a bed size of 18”x24” and the X-660 which has a bed size of 18”x32”. The laser cutters can do many things, like cut and engrave (or score). There are some tips for preparing your laser files in AutoCAD at the end of this document. For more information on approved materials the laser cutters can cut and score please refer to the “Laser Resources – Materials and Suppliers” document. General safety information is contained in the “Laser Resources – Materials and Safety” document. During this tutorial we will be using AutoCAD to print to the laser cutters. There will soon be more tutorials for other programs that will allow raster engraving, like Photoshop. This is a PDF, so you don’t need to print it!! The first few steps of this tutorial involve setting up your AutoCAD file and these steps must be completed on your own. Time is precious and this should not wait until you are logged onto the TBH computers. The first step is to prepare your file by making two new layers, a layer named “Cut” and “Score”. The laser printer uses settings files based on color; it assigns a certain power and speed setting to certain colors. The settings that have been created for the laser plotters are this; The “Cut” color is RED (index color 1) and the “Score” color is GREEN (index color 3). So place the lines you wish to cut your material with on the cut layer (red), and
  • Securing Web 2.0: are your web applications vulnerable?
  • The definition of Web 2.0 is still being debated despite extensive discussion. Its staunchest advocates proclaim it a complete philosophical and technological reworking of how the web functions. Others declare that it is meaningless. However, most agree on common characteristics of a Web 2.0 application, such as increased interactivity, the acceptance of user input for building community and a reliance on client-side functionality. Additionally, Web 2.0 applications can be more vulnerable to exploitation by hackers than their predecessors. Hackers spend most of their time gathering information. When Web 2.0 applications push functionality and code to users, they provide hackers with information that can be used for formulating attacks. Often, old attacks such as cross-site scripting become more dangerous when used against Web 2.0 applications. This white paper defines some of the common technological components of Web 2.0 applications and discusses ways of securing them against exploitation. Web 2.0 components Web 2.0 uses the web for delivering information that is often created through community contribution. Wikis and blogs are good examples of these types of appli cations. The main attribute of a Web 2.0 application is interactivity. More functionality is on the client, and less is on the server. As a result, requests are updated in the browser without refreshing the entire page. For example, consider Google Maps. Instead of a static page, you can drill down or zoom in and out of a map without making requests for a new page. You can use several key technologies—or more appropriately, groupings of different

  • Hacking Exposed 5th Edition: Network Security Secrets & Solutions
  • When the first edition of Hacking Exposed was released, everyone was pouring into the latest dot-com and preparing for their inevitable IPO. Times were good, and new technologies were being developed at a torrid pace. Well, as we all know, those days of starting a dot-com and taking a private company public in 12 months are long gone. Not only has the ?nancial market changed dramatically, but so has the security landscape. If you don’t know that security is now a necessity, not a luxury, you have either been living in a cave for the past five years or are lost remembering the fond old days when your dot-com stock was worth something. From the beginning, when we first created the concept for Hacking Exposed, our goal has always been to educate and enlighten. Some may say, “educate and enlighten the bad guys,” but we disagree. The bad guys (and gals) already know what we are presenting. In fact, the good news is that many of you know or will soon know the techniques and concepts that many attackers rely on to do their dirty work. We always say that security isn’t necessarily difficult, it just requires a bit of education and a lot of vigilance. So in Hacking Exposed, Fifth Edition, the operative word is vigilance. Whether you are a home user or part of the security team of a Global 100 company, you must be vigilant. Do not bow to the pressures of apathy. Keep a watchful eye on

  • Using the Microsoft Visual Basic Macro EMM_MACRO
  • This macro was written in Microsoft Visual Basic for use with Microsoft Excel. It computes cross-sectional geometric properties from biplanar radiographic images using the eccentric ellipse model (EEM) described in detail by Milgrom et al. (1989) and Ohman (1993). The Macro was first implemented in: O’Neill MC, Ruff CB. 2004. Estimating human long bone cross-sectional geometric properties: a comparison of noninvasive methods. J. Hum. Evol. 47:???-??? A. General Instructions The EMM_Macro is very simple and works in the same manner as a cell function. To begin, enter your data in the columns G through N: AP ap ac pc ML ml mc lc AP = anteriorposterior external breadth ap = anteriorposterior breadth of medullary cavity. Computed automatically as AP-(ac+pc). Leave blank (see below for explanation). ac = anterior cortical thickness pc = posterior cortical thickness ML = mediolateral external breadth ml = mediolateral breadth of the medullary cavity. Computed automatically as ML-(mc+lc). Leave blank (see below for explanation). mc = medial cortical thickness lc = lateral cortical thickness Once the data is entered the Macro is implemented by going to TOOLS, scrolling down to MACRO, and then clicking on MACROS. Make sure “EccentricEllipseMacro” is highlighted and then click RUN. This will compute the cross-sectional geometric properties using the eccentric ellipse model for 150 sections.
