How to Use Social Software in Higher EducationThe fact that you are reading this handbook probably means that you are experienced in e-Learning implementation at a university or similar institution. You will probably be aware of the tools and styles of working on LMS, and will be used to communicating whilst working and learning online. But at the same time, by surfing the net and probably by observing your students, you will clearly see that changes are coming. Freely available new technologies, common access to the Internet and to information, new types of social interactions mediated by technology; all of these things require a shift in the way that we learn and teach. e-Learning using new technologies is an innovative learning method.
During recent years, ‘innovation’ has become a real buzz word. Many companies have revolutionized their products or business models. In education literature, you can find many case studies and best practices on how to modernize teaching and learning process. But before taking action, we should try to understand innovation in the context of technology-enhanced learning. What is new and what is now outdated? We can understand all this as technology, but also as new ways to communicate, work and learn. Within this handbook we think of innovation as technology, adapted for new learning purposes.
The term ‘Web 2.0’ was coined by O’Reilly (2005) as a common denominator for recent trends heading towards the ‘Read-Write Web’, allowing everyone to publish resources on the web using simple and open, personal and collaborative publishing tools, known as social software: blogs,Nokia N95 User guideWindows Media Player selects manual synchronization if. there is not enough free memory in ...... or copy media files on your Nokia N95 or search for other
Download manualDesigning and Implementing the Chuck Programming LanguageChucK re-factors the idea of a computer music language into three orthogonal basis components: unit generator connections that are data-flow only, globally consistent ”first-class” time control, and sample-synchronous concurrency. The syntax, semantic, and usage have been discussed in previous works. The focus and contributions of this paper are (1) to examine the philosophies and decisions in the language design (2) to describe ChucK’s implementation and runtime model, and (3) to outline potential applications enabled by this framework. We present an experiment in designing a computer music language ”from scratch” and show how things work. We hope these ideas may provides an interesting reference for future computer music systems.
If Human Computer Interaction (HCI) research strives to give people greater and better access to using the computer, then perhaps computer music language design aims to give programmers more natural representation of audio and musical concepts. Machines have advanced to a point where system design no longer depends on blazing performance, but can focus foremost on flexibility and how users can interact with the system.
On today’s machines, ChucK [10] is a real-time audio programming language that offers potentially worse performance than languages such as SuperCollider [4], Nyquist [2], Max/MSP [6], Pure Data [7], CSound [9], and other systems [5, 3]. But it still runs comfortably in real-time for many tasks and, more importantly, offers something unique: a fundamental and flexible programming model to manipulate time and parallelism.
ChucK is strongly-timed, concurrent, and embodies a do-it-yourself spirit. It combines the conciseness of high-level computer musicSpring Framework TutorialThis tutorial covers the main packages in the Spring Framework. For full details, we refer you to Rod Johnson’s book, Expert One-on-One J2EE Design and Development, published by Wrox Press in 2002. The book’s ISBN number is 1-86100-784-1. The code for the Spring Framework is contained in package com.interface21. We provide UML diagrams for the subpackages, as well as code samples.
1.1 Setting up for the samples
The samples have been written using the MySQL database (www.mysql.com), Tomcat (jakarta.apache.org/tomcat) and JBoss(www.jboss.org). We refer you to these web sites for setting up the environment correctly. In MySQL, create a database named test, a user test with password test, and grant user test all rights: grant all on test.* to test@localhost identified by ’test’; If you use a different database, read the comments at the top of the samples files, they will direct you to the spots in the code you will have to change for your database.
1.2 Building the tutorials
The tutorials can be built using the provided Ant script (you can get ant at http://jakarta.apache.org/ant). You may need to edit the build.properties file to set paths correctly for your system.
1.3 Running the tutorials
We provide a shell script, runtest.sh, and a batch file, runtest.bat, for running a single tutorial. You may need to edit these files to set the paths correctly.

In this section we will create a new database, a new user, and a very simple table. MySQL has a two level directory like hierarchy for keeping databases and tables. At the root there is MySQL; under root you can only create “databases.” Database is almost like a directory, you can create “tables” under a database. Follow the steps listed below.
1. Start the mysql server (follow the CSIF MySQL tutorial).
2. Check if mysql server is running.
$ mysqladmin -u root -p status
Uptime: 434 Threads: 1 Questions: 86 Slow queries: 0 ...
3. Start the mysql client. We will use the command line client to create a new database, a new user and a table in the new database.
(a) $ mysql -u root -p
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or g.
mysql>
(b) Create a new database named ecs160tutorial.
mysql> CREATE DATABASE ecs160tutorial;
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.06 sec)
(c) Create a user with all privileges on this database. The user name will be tutorial user and the password will be 123456. Although this is NOT good practice, it will suffice.
mysql> GRANT ALL ON ecs160tutorial.* TO tutorialuser@’%’
-> IDENTIFIED BY ’123456’;
mysql> GRANT ALL ON ecs160tutorial.* TO tutorialuser@’localhost’
-> IDENTIFIED BY ’123456’;

get pdfImplementing a Caching and Tiling Map Server: a Web 2.0 Case StudyModern Geographical Information Systems (GIS) [1] provide a service-oriented architecture for interacting with geographical data sets and related maps. Web-based GIS systems are architected around the same principles as more general Web service systems based on SOAP [2], WSDL [3], and REST. Mirroring the World Wide Web Consortium and OASIS Web service standards-making bodies, the Open Geospatial Consortium [5] defines open standards for messages, XML data formats, and access protocols that are specific to the GIS community. In addition to OGC-based services, there are many companies (such as ESRI and AutoDesk) that provide proprietary, commercial solutions. Services from these various providers are not normally interoperable.
The methods of the traditional GIS community have been challenged in the last two years by the emergence of new, lighter-weight approaches towards building clients and integrating data. The availability of Google Maps, Google Earth, Microsoft’s TeraServer, Yahoo! Maps and similar systems has enabled enthusiasts and part-time developers to make highly interactive Web interfaces to these companies’ services and to integrate their maps with local data. Google Maps in particular is an important example of the so-called Web 2.0 development approach [6]: Google has built and maintains a high performance, highly scalable map service (available for free) that has a relatively simple, JavaScript-based programming interface. This simple but powerful public interface to a very complicated service is the hallmark of Web 2.0, since it democratizes the client development process: very little programming skill is required to build custom Web applications and to combine them with dataChemical Hair Care Services Fact SheetWhat are chemical hair care services?
