Mac Network SolutionsIn this guide we have designed a user-friendly step-by-step instructional format that will assist you in making your computer network ready. We have utilized diagrams and screen simulations to make the installation process as easy as possible. However, if after following these directions you continue to encounter difficulty in connecting to the network please call the University Help Desk.
These instructions only apply to newer Macintoshes which are running OS X. “X” is just the Roman numeral ten, “OS X” is pronounced “OS Ten.” These instructions are for all versions of OS 10.0 and above. If you are running an operating system prior to OS X and require assistance please call the University Help Desk.
ACTIVATING YOUR NETWORK CONNECTION
ON CAMPUS
To use the network you will need an Ethernet connection cable, an Internet browser (Internet Explorer comes preinstalled with OS X).
MAC SETUP
To make your computer network ready please follow the instructions below.
1) Go to the Apple menu and launch “System Preferences...” as shown below:
Note: The Apple Menu stays the same no matter what program you’re using.
2) Click NETWORK from the “Internet & Network” list.
3) Select “Built-in-Ethernet” from the Show pull down list (see illustration below).
4) Select “Using DHCP server” from the Configure pull-down list.

Although Access has templates and “wizards” to help you easily set up a database that can suit simple purposes, it can also run extremely advanced functions. This handout is intended to introduce new users to the basic functions of Access.
What is a database? Before we start on the construction of a practice database, we should review the basic concepts of database design. It is important to thoroughly plan your database before you begin its construction to guarantee that your database will work correctly.
Concepts and Terms
Access allows you to create a database of information in which data values are stored in fields. A collection of fields makes a record, and a group of records makes a table.
- A database is a collection of related data that is stored in one or more tables.
- A table is a collection of related information stored in rows and columns. The power of Access is that it allows you to link data together even if it resides in separate tables.
- A field is a column of a table that contains a category of information.
- A record is all of the fields for one particular object – such as a person’s last name, first name, and telephone number would comprise a record.
- A data value is the smallest unit of information. E. 96 model z32 - Check the box if your car is a 1996 model year 300ZX. This setting allows for communication with 96 model 300zx OBDII complaint cars via the Consult I port. You may also have to check this box if your ECU is later than 1996 in some other models.
F. Auto Connect to ECU - This checkbox should be selected if you want NDS to connect automatically to your ECU each time the program starts.

In this paper we analyze Microsoft’s Windows NT implementation of PPTP. We show how to break both the challenge/response authentication protocol (Microsoft CHAP) and the RC4 encryption protocol (MPPE), as well as how to attack the control channel in Microsoft’s implementation. These attacks do not necessarily break PPTP, but only Microsoft’s implementation of the protocol.
Many organizations and institutions are not centralized. Branch offices, virtual corporations, and traveling employees make the notion of running dedicated network connections to each location logistically impossible. The concept of virtual networking provides a solution to this problem by tunneling cojoined network space over other, transitory and insecure, networks (such as the Internet), thus enabling remote locations to appear to be local. This is done without the expense incurred from running leased lines or dedicated cabling to each location, and is sometimes called a “tunnel.”
While virtual networks solve the problem of de- centralized machines, they create a new problem.
