  • Collaborative Storytelling in the Web 2.0
  • Prosuming is one of the magic activities of the Web 2.0. The idea that media con- sumers can become media producers has been validated with all its pros and cons in systems like YouTube and Flickr.com. There is a re-newed discussion about expert and amateur cultures or even cults [3]. Especially, making movies was thought to be an area where only teams of highly specialized experts equipped with a lot of money can produce high quality movies with a world-wide audience. But next to Hollywood other production centers emerged like ”Bollywood” in India or ”Nollywood” in Nigeria with local practices. YouTube has proven that amateurishly produced content can fascinate people on the Internet. We want to combine both worlds, multimedia production knowledge and Web 2.0 production knowledge shall be united for serving the knowledge sharing needs for a society who has not forgotten the power of stories, yet. In learning processes, the substantial challenge is also maintaining and extending learners’ expertise and knowledge. As stated in [2], way that people get information to solve problems is through their social networks. Moreover, people rely on other people to get information and learn. Some knowledge is easy to be acquired and mastered when it is not impersonal, because emotions might be involved and motivation is more clear. Storytelling is an efficient means to fulfill learning goals [11]. Knowledge is exchanged within communities when stories are told. Non-linear storytelling is kind of interaction between communities and media, in order to keep people by certain

  • Virtools: How to create interactive textures and an orbital camera
  • This tutorial shows how to create behaviors for interactive textures: scrolling, blending textures on the faces of a cube. We will work on one face of the cube with its specific material-shader and one texture “mountain.jpg”. Part 4 of this tutorial covers setting up an orbital camera. Part 1- In Maya, exporting a cube with textures Before exporting to Virtools, make sure that all faces inside the cube have their normals facing towards the inside of the cube. Go to Modeling, Display > Polygon Components > Normals Normals are represented with colored lines stickin out of the faces of the cube. The red arrow shows the way one normal should look like. • Nikon M-22U Measuroscope with QC-5200 Software with Video Edge Detection
  • The Measuroscope is used to measure the lateral distance between two features on a substrate. The system uses video edge detection to reduce operator error by removing judgment inconsistencies. Resolution depends on magnification of objective and type of detection selected. Minimum resolution is 100 nm for 100x objective and video edge detection. Video Edge detection – Detects edges from distinct variations in field intensity – Must have objective selection on the screen the same as the objective in use. Probes • Singly ‘fired’ by pressing the center scroll button on the mouse. • Continuously fired by selecting ‘continuous fire’ on menu created by right clicking over video view. To acquire points: 1. Select a feature measurement (on upper center menu) or use Measure Magic 2. Select a probe a. One of those listed above, or b. New probe can be used by selecting a point or multiple points depending on if measuring a point, line, or arc/circle (1, 2, or 3 points, respectively). The last point selected should be ‘dragged’ across the edge by the mouse to create the proper probe. 3. Position the probe over the video image 4. Size the probe 5. • Diesel Engine Basics Manual
  • Diesel Engines Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow Diesels are workhorse engines. That’s why you find them powering heavy-duty trucks, buses, tractors, and trains, not to mention large ships, bulldozers, cranes, and other construction equipment. In the past, diesels fit the stereotype of muscle-bound behe-moths. They were dirty and sluggish, smelly and loud. That image doesn’t apply to today’s diesel engines, however, and tomorrow’s diesels will show even greater improvements. • Using AutoCAD to learn Unit Operation
  • This contribution presents the main results of a work developed through AutoCAD to draw details of Unit Operations Equipments for Chemical Industries. This work is part of an engineering education branch (REENGE) of a Brazilian Program for Engineering Development (PRODENGE). The main purpose of this work is to incentive the students application of AutoCAD at Chemical Engineering College of Campinas State University (UNICAMP). In order to accomplish this some 3-D sketches of mixers and filters were drew thrpough AutoCAD. This sketches provide a way to examine small equipment details as well as to see a full equipment, allow rotate the objects to obtain upper and side views through many simultaneous windows. This contents are the result of a review in the literature and an access through Internet was provided so the benefits are extended to all that has got a Internet connection. This scientific initiation paper is a part of the PRODENGE - REENGE project of the Chemical Engineering Faculty of the UNICAMP. This project has the reengineering of the engineering teaching in Brazil as its objective. In order to meet this, the national members of this project aim the engineering courses integration, the introduction of new teaching methodologies and the faraway teaching via Internet. Faraway teaching means all kinds of learning procedure which is developed by the student working interactively with the computer. Hence it can be done either in a in house Lab or in any place where Internet facilities are available. With these aims in mind, the study has been
