  • Nortel Secure Network Access and Microsoft Network Access Protection Integration
  • With the ever-increasing need for enterprises to provide endpoint security and policy compliance, Network Access Control (NAC) solutions abound. However, confusion around industry standards, the multitude of NAC vendors and the complexity of the solutions has led to a relatively slow industry-wide NAC adoption rate. In order to increase flexibility, simplicity and comprehensive cross-platform device support, Nortel has worked with Microsoft to provide a joint NAC solution. Interoperability features and benefits Nortel and Microsoft have worked together to integrate the Nortel Secure Network Access (SNA) solution with Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP). This integration lets customers deploy a NAC solution today, based on Nortel SNA, while allowing them to add Microsoft’s solution at a later date. Microsoft NAP is available with Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista and Windows XP SP3. The key features and benefits of the joint solution include: Cross-platform device support Nortel SNA provides agent technology that runs on both Windows and non-Windows operating systems. NAP's focus on Windows Vista and XP SP3 support, combined with SNA’s extensibility to older Windows versions as well as Mac OS X and Linux, provides a comprehensive solution for enterprises with heterogeneous environments. • WPE-600 AeroCard Wireless PCMCIA Card User Manual
  • AeroCard, the Wireless LAN (WLAN) PCMCIA card for Mac and PC. Welcome to the Macsense/Xsense Networking Product Family. These days, business moves at lightning speed. To compete, companies must make it easy for their employees to share vital business intelligence real-time and to collaborate without restriction. But until now, network users have been bound by the limits of their wired network, and forced to settle for access only at their desk. A trend in the technology industry today is to eliminate the cable restrictions and hassle of wires by implementing a wireless network. By choosing wireless you reduce the hassle of cable clutter, the expensive need to run cabling in the home or office and the aggravation altogether to crawl under that desk for the last time to see if that Ethernet cable is connected. A WLAN standard called IEEE 802.11b has emerged delivering speeds of up to 11 Mbps and the ability to take the power of the Internet with you. Imagine the ease of which you can setup this wireless network providing roaming access to the Internet and your network. The combined flexibility of a laptop and our Wireless card can provide some impressive changes indeed. Surf the Net while sitting on the couch during the big Sunday game. Review your stock portfolio in bed. Maybe the kids want to chat with friends on AOL out by the pool. • How to Use Social Software in Higher Education
  • The fact that you are reading this handbook probably means that you are experienced in e-Learning implementation at a university or similar institution. You will probably be aware of the tools and styles of working on LMS, and will be used to communicating whilst working and learning online. But at the same time, by surfing the net and probably by observing your students, you will clearly see that changes are coming. Freely available new technologies, common access to the Internet and to information, new types of social interactions mediated by technology; all of these things require a shift in the way that we learn and teach. e-Learning using new technologies is an innovative learning method. During recent years, ‘innovation’ has become a real buzz word. Many companies have revolutionized their products or business models. In education literature, you can find many case studies and best practices on how to modernize teaching and learning process. But before taking action, we should try to understand innovation in the context of technology-enhanced learning. What is new and what is now outdated? We can understand all this as technology, but also as new ways to communicate, work and learn. Within this handbook we think of innovation as technology, adapted for new learning purposes. The term ‘Web 2.0’ was coined by O’Reilly (2005) as a common denominator for recent trends heading towards the ‘Read-Write Web’, allowing everyone to publish resources on the web using simple and open, personal and collaborative publishing tools, known as social software: blogs,
  • Beginners Guide Maya
  • In this beginners guide we discuss how to build a simple humanoid character and how to animate it. It was not our intention to give a step-by-step guide on how to build a character and how to animate it, because there is extensive amount of literature available on this. This guide can be used next to the “Learning Maya 5 Foundation” book as a source for more information and explanation. We found that although the book is very clear on what actions to do and what the actions will result in, it lacked somewhat in explaining the meaning of concepts and the reasons for performing actions. In this guide, we first give an explanation of the Maya interface and the main interface elements that are important for character building and animation. We then follow the “Learning Maya 5 Foundation” subjects on building and animating a humanoid character. First building the basic character by creating a skeleton, adding geometries, flexors and selection handles. Then preparing the character for animation, by adding controls for movements with expressions, rotate planes and vector constraints. Then animating the character by creating character nodes, keyframes, linear animation, non-linear animation and non-destructive keys (secondary animation) and the Maya Embedded Language (MEL). In the last part we discuss shortly the use of cameras, lighting, texturizing, rendering. Download pdf Beginners Guide Maya

D Dashboard Control Panels New 2D control panels provide easy access to layers and include controls for annotation scaling, text, dimensions, multiple leaders, tables, 2D navigation commands, object properties, and block attributes. When you select a tool from the Dashboard, the corresponding tool palette also displays, where applicable. Tool Palettes When you drag geometry to an inactive tool palette, it is automatically activated for easy placement—just give it an extra second to switch. • A new Specify Image option on the shortcut menu makes it easy to assign an image to any tool. • The location of tools on a tool palette is now saved in the tool catalog (and the profile), making it easier to share your tool palettes with others and maintain the same look and feel. • Use TPNAVIGATE to set a tool palette current at the command line (for programming purposes). Clean Screen Use the Clean Screen button located in the lower-right corner of the screen to turn off everything except for the status and menu bars and the command window. • Beej's Guide to Network Programming Using Internet Sockets
  • Hey! Socket programming got you down? Is this stuff just a little too difficult to figure out from the man pages? You want to do cool Internet programming, but you don’t have time to wade through a gob of struct s trying to figure out if you have to call bind() before you connect(), etc., etc. Well, guess what! I’ve already done this nasty business, and I’m dying to share the information with everyone! You’ve come to the right place. This document should give the average competent C programmer the edge s/he needs to get a grip on this networking noise. This document has been written as a tutorial, not a reference. It is probably at its best when read by individuals who are just starting out with socket programming and are looking for a foothold. It is certainly not the complete guide to sockets programming, by any means. Hopefully, though, it’ll be just enough for those man pages to start making sense. The code contained within this document was compiled on a Linux PC using Gnu’s gcc compiler. It should, however, build on just about any platform that uses gcc. Naturally, this doesn’t apply if you’re programming for Windows–see the section on Windows programming, below. Download pdf Beej's Guide to Network Programming Using Internet Sockets
