A Web-Based Antibody DatabaseSubstances foreign to the body, such as disease-causing bacteria and viruses and other infectious agents, are known as antigens. They are generally of high molecular weight and are commonly proteins or polysaccharides. Our natural defenses against these infectious agents are antibodies, which are proteins that seek out the antigens and help destroy them. There is a significant number of anybodies (in the range of hundreds of thousands) that are developed and used by today’s research community.
Research groups and labs generally depend on their own sources of antibodies necessary for their research, and keep the antibody information according to their needs. The antibody information is stored using different data formats, and the search for the correct antibody is sometimes impossible. We would like to propose a web based database solution to this problem, by creating a database framework that can be easily used by any research group or a lab.
The type of information to be stored in the database will follow after a short overview of the role of antibodies and their general properties.
Antibodies (or immunoglobulins) can be regarded as universal adapter molecules (Sirch and Lenmox, 1995). They have two very useful characteristics:
1. Each antibody binds to and attacks only one particular antigen.
2. Some antibodies, once activated by the occurence of a disease, continue to confer resistance against that disease. Classic examples are the antibodies to the childhood diseases: chickenpox and measles.

Download pdfWEB 2.0 Framework DefinitionsParticipation
Every aspect of Web 2.0 is driven by participation. The transition to Web 2.0 was enabled by the emergence of platforms such as blogging, social networks, and free image and video uploading, that collectively allowed extremely easy content creation and sharing by anyone.
Standards
Standards provide an essential platform for Web 2.0. Common interfaces for accessing content and applications are the glue that allow integration across the many elements of the emergent web.
Decentralization
Web 2.0 is decentralized in its architecture, participation, and usage. Power and flexibility emerges from distributing applications and content over many computers and systems, rather than maintaining them on centralized systems.
Openness
The world of Web 2.0 has only become possible through a spirit of openness whereby developers and companies provide open, transparent access to their applications and content.
Modularity
Web 2.0 is the antithesis of the monolothic. It emerges from many, many components or modules that are designed to link and integrate with others, together building a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.
User Control
A primary direction of Web 2.0 is for users to control the content they create, the data captured about their web activities, and their identity. This powerful trend is driven by the clear desires of participants.
Identity
Identity is a critical element of both Web 2.0 and the future direction of the internet. We can increasingly choose to represent our identities however we please, across interactions, virtual worlds, and social networks. We can also own and verify our real identities in transactions if we choose.

A choice that will help you bring out the best in boating pleasure. To give you the best benefit of the product and to facilitate your installation, we kindly ask you to follow the recommendations and instructions below.
The QL Water Heaters are built with materials that withstand the rigors of the marine environment. Being an electrical appliance, the Water Heater should be installed in a ventilated location where it will not be subjected to humidity and external water spray. All QL Water Heaters are insulated with high efficiency, auto extinguishable cellular polyurethane.
The distance between the engine and the Water Heater should be as short as possible. Locate the Water Heater in an accessible position so that the water connections, pressure relief/non return valve and electrical heating element (30 cm long) remain accessible. Install the Water Heater in a ventilated location in order to prevent sweating which might be mistaken for water loss.
The Water Heater should be firmly secured with mounting brackets to a solid structure using bolts, nuts and lock washers. Bear in mind that the total weight of the Water Heater is its weight plus all the water it contains.
The Water Heater can be mounted either horizontally or vertically to bulkhead, deckhead or floor. The hot water outlet is placed in the far, top end of the bowl to ensure that the warmest possible water is used at every time even when vertically mounted.

DownloadGetting Fit with .NetFitNesse is a great Web-based collaboration tool for software testing, which can really help to test- drive the code and build a framework for holding the project together during big changes and re- factoring. It makes writing and running automated tests easy and allows test-driven software teams to share knowledge and expectations. Under the hub, FitNesse runs FIT (Framework for Integrated Testing). Both FitNesse and FIT are open-source tools, and together they are very popular as a testing framework in the Java community. Although FitNesse supports testing .Net code, some things don't quite work out of the box or do not follow official on-line documentation. However, the integration is stable, and I guarantee that the effort required to start using FitNesse is worth it.
This is a guide to help you get started with FitNesse. I will not try to make a case for automated tests or test-driven development here, nor explain all the benefits of FitNesse. Here are just a few advantages of using FIT/FitNesse combination for testing:
- It is easy to write complex tests
- Tests are easy to read and understand
- FitNesse promotes collaboration between team members (and customers)
- Test-specific code is very thin, and it looks much more like an integration layer then typical testing code
I will refer to FIT/FitNesse combination in this document simply as FitNesse – although it might not be 100% correct, it will simplify the story. This is a beginners guide and you will be working directly with FitNesse, and I do not wantGnu Emacs Facts Sheet PdfThis document contains a summary of useful GNU Emacs commands. Invoking Emacs To invoke the Emacs editor use the command:
% emacs [filename] e.g. % emacs test.file The following screen will then be displayed. If you are editing an existing file, the first 20 lines or so will be diplayed. == Emacs ================================= A status line is displayed near the bottom of the screen. Beneath the status line is the command line which is used to input information, such as the file name when you are reading a file. Emacs Commands Emacs employs commands which are executed by typing one or two keys.
The commands also have a name, usually consisting of a number of words, separated by hyphens. For example: consists of a single keystroke, and K simultaneously. The command is called kill-line. F consists of two separate keystrokes, followed by F. The command is called forwardword. Typing X name enables you to run the command name using the name given in this document. For example X kill-line
Download Gnu Emacs Facts Sheet PdfIntrusive Data StructuresThis article compares two styles of building data structures and data structure libraries in C++: (a) Intrusive data structures formed by pointers stored inside the application objects, (b) Containers where auxiliary objects form the required data structure, and only point to the application objects without adding any pointers or other data to them.
Each style works better in different situations, and the first half of the article discusses the impact of this choice on program performance, code maintainability, ease of use and data integrity. When working with templates, containers are easier to implement, which may be the reason why most class libraries are based on containers. The only existing library which is consistently intrusive (Code Farms) uses a code generator. If intrusive data structures could not be implemented with templates, their applicability would be severely limited. The second half of the article deals with this pivotal question, shows an elegant way of building an intrusive data structure library with templates, explains why its interface is similar to- but cannot be identical with STL, discusses the impact of the new architecture on class dependency, and compares the new approach with existing libraries. A prototype of the new library is now available under the name Pattern Template Library.
Open any book on data structures, and somewhere near the beginning you will find a linked list similar to Fig.1a. This is the type of list you would probably use in your program if you were not using any class library.
Download pdf Intrusive Data StructuresExtracting A Background from an Image Using Photoshop CS2's Extraction ToolThis is tutorial #2 in the series for changing or removing backgrounds. This method uses the extraction tool available in Photoshop CS2 (I'm not sure if it's available in Photoshop CS, but it won't be available in any version prior to this). Unfortunately, unless other softwares contain this tool (I don't know of any that do), the tutorial will only be geared to those who own Photoshop CS2 upwards.
This method removes the background from the image, rather than removing the image to a new background.
To begin, open your photo and locate your extraction filter - it can be found under "filter" in the menu (Select "Filter", then Extract) and open it up. This filter will not work on 16-bit images, so if you've opened a raw file, you'll need to change the mode to 8-bit (select "image", then "mode", then select 8-bit).
On the left are a series of tools - the first one is the "highlighter" for drawing around the areas you want to keep; the second is the paint bucket fill, next is an eraser, an eyedropper, two masking tools, and magnifying glass (for zooming in and out) and the hand tool (for moving your image around within the filter).
On the right are some options you can set: tool options are the brush size, the highlight color and the fill color, as well as a box for "smart highlighting". Smart highlighting works best on high contrast images with sharp edges, but not so well on other types of images.
