Web 2.0 in 2008

Applications manufacturers today offer tools that allow companies to reap all of the potential benefits of Web 2.0. Behind most of these initiatives lies a simple yet very promising idea for the corporate world. Without installing “in house” software (that is under the cloud computing format), companies can capitalize on these free on-line services for a series of activities requiring coordination or collaboration. These include organizing meetings, sharing contacts and documents, and creating communities. Furthermore, integration with social networks allows companies to get to know their clients and their preferences better in order to choose the ideal candidates. In this sense, it seems logical to assume that Web 2.0 will undergo a strong new surge due to its commitment to mobility, and specific applications are already coming out on the market.

Typinator User’s Guide

Adobe Photoshop is the graphic arts industry standard software for raster image manipulation. Cartographers can also use Photoshop to create effective colored shaded relief for maps.

One important advantage in using Photoshop to create shaded relief is that of familiarity. Most cartographers and graphic artists have Photoshop on their desktop and are skilled in using it for working with images. It is an extremely powerful image-editing tool and a skilled cartographer can make many enhancements to a shaded relief map image once it is rendered.

Using Dosch Textures in 3D Studio MAX
In order to properly use the textures in 3D Studio MAX please verify the location (drive-letter; e.g. D: or E:) where your image-maps are located. Then open the File/Configure-Paths page in 3DSM, switch to the “Bitmap”-section and enter the path to the IMAGE-folder on your CD-ROM at the “Configure-Paths” setting If the Raytracer fails to find a texture in any of the 3DSM-default folders, it now automatically searches through the extra locations defined in the “Configure- Paths” on the “Bitmap”-page.

Alexander is writing a paper about the Lewis and Clark expedition, focusing on a critical decision. When the party arrived at a fork in the river in June 1805, the crew believed the north fork was the proper route; Captains Lewis and Clark thought the south course would get them to the Pacific Ocean. Alexander looks at the area on Google Earth.Com, which helps him understand the geography of this part of Montana. Alexander decides to supplement his paper with a visualization from Google Earth. He has a complete set of Lewis and Clark’s maps, in JPEG format, from their journey. He carefully overlays their maps onto the im- ages in Google Earth, adding placemarks for important milestones.
