  • Weaving Ada 95 into the .Net Environment
  • This paper explains our efforts to add Ada to Microsoft’s family of .NET languages. There are several advantages to weaving Ada into the Common Language Environment provided by the .NET environment. This paper explains our approach and current progress on the research. We provide the means to extract Ada specification files from Microsoft Intermediate Language (MSIL) code and compile Ada programs into MSIL. Microsoft’s .NET environment provides a large set of object- oriented libraries for application development, targeted especially for web-based applications. [11,12] It is an entirely new framework for programming Windows (and possibly other) machines. One of the key goals of .NET was to provide language interoperability. Ada shares similar goals, and was the first language to include mixed-language pragmas as part of its specification. Our A# project seeks to create a fully-interoperable environment for an Ada programmer to use .NET. Ada programmers will be able to use libraries written by other .NET programmers even if the libraries are written in other languages. Ada programmers will also be able to share their libraries with programmers using other languages. This paper presents research being done at the Air Force Academy on the A# project. We will discuss our approach for compiling Ada into MSIL, extracting Ada specifications from MSIL, and our progress to date. MICROSOFT’SCOMMON LANGUAGE RUNTIME In building the .NET Environment, Microsoft has found a way to provide language independent development coupled with platform independent execution. Their Common Language Environment (CLR) provides developers with a choice of several different programming languages such as
  • Fiat Bravo Car Test Report PDF
  • Fiat’s confusing, like-sounding model names, the Brava is the five-door,family-sized hatch back, while Bravo is a 15cm shorter but more sportily slanted three-door variation on the same theme. This “horses-for-courses” approach makes sound sense: the Brava offers more space, five-door practicality and a rounded-off ride for those with a family to consider, while the Bravo’s distinctive-but-different styling and subtly revised suspension and specification cater for less-encumbered buyers seeking a more sporting attraction. Which ever tickles your fancy, though, Fiat has recently given the pair a mild makeover. Staying faithful to the original styling concept, the refettled Fiats are not much different to look at, but every version now offers significant improvements and costs less, or at least no more, than its previous equivalent. Equipment levels are improved across the board, with the former S version dropped, so that SX now takes on the entry-level mantle. There are two new engines under the bonnet, or rather they’re new to the Bravo/Brava pairing, while existing engines have been refettled to improve emissions and economy. Even the entry-level SX comes with an electric sunroof; there are front passenger and now side airbag options to go with the driver’s standard-fit one, while top models now boast an automatic climate control system as standard. Up front, only the five-door Brava receives Fiat’s new 1.9 JTD common-rail direct-injection turbo-diesel, though 75 and 100bhp versions of Fiat’s indirectly injected oil-burner live on in both body styles. However, our three-door test subject is powered by an 82bhp 1.2-litre 16-valve engine

  • Analyzing Video Services in Web 2.0: A Global Perspective
  • Serving multimedia content over the Internet with negligible delay remains a challenge. With the advent of Web 2.0, numerous video sharing sites using different storage and content delivery models have become popular. Yet, little is known about these models from a global perspective. Such an understanding is important for designing systems which can efficiently serve video content to users all over the world. In this paper, we analyze and compare the underlying distribution frameworks of three video sharing services – YouTube, Dailymotion and Metacafe – based on traces collected from measurements over a period of 23 days. We investigate the variation in service delay with the user’s geographical location and with video characteristics such as age and popularity. We leverage multiple vantage points distributed around the globe to validate our observations. Our results represent some of the first measurements directed towards analyzing these recently popular services. The Internet is emerging as a prime broadcast medium offering Television, Radio, Cinema, and the exchange of videos for personal as well as commercial use. With the increasing demand, numerous websites offering a variety of options for sharing user-generated multimedia files have become available. YouTube, Dailymotion, and Metacafe are among the most popular video sharing services on the Internet today; they were the top three video streaming sites in the SeoMOZ Web 2.0 survey 2007 [2]. The new services leverage a video delivery technique known as pseudo-streaming [3]. This differs from traditional web streaming in that the video content can be played back as it is
