  • Fundamentals of Concurrent Programming for .NET
  • Many developers will have read Herb Sutter’s article “The Free Lunch is Over” which talks about the future speed increases of CPUs. The good news is that they will get significantly faster, but the bad news is that you won’t see all of the possible performance gains unless you write your application to take advantage of them. Over the last few years the increase in clock speeds has slowed down, and chip manufacturers are focussing more and more on concurrent execution of code. Hyperthreading was the first step, which allows a single processor core to execute two threads in parallel, but the future is multi-core chips which will allow many threads to execute truly independently. Intel is already talking about chips with over a hundred cores, so if your code is single-threaded you may only be using one hundredth of the available processing power! This Charteris White Paper introduces the fundamentals that will allow you to begin writing concurrent applications, and is intended to be easier to read than much of the material on this subject. It is targeted at developers who have some experience of developing on the .NET Framework, and ideally in C# as this is my language of choice for the code samples. No prior knowledge of concurrent programming or multi-threading is needed, though even experienced developers in this area may find some new and surprising information. The first section of this paper provides background information about threads, fibers, the thread pool asynchronous methods and events particularly with respect

  • 1999-2005 Volkswagen GTI 1.8L Cold Air System Installation Instruction
  • The AEM Cold Air System is the result of extensive development on a wide variety of cars. Each system is engineered for the particular application. The AEM Cold Air System differs from all others in several ways. We take the inlet air from outside of the engine compartment where the inlet air is considerably cooler than the hot underhood air. The cooler inlet air temperature translates to more power during the combustion process because cool air is denser than warm air. AEM has conducted extensive inlet air temperature studies and we have seen temperature reductions of up to 50 degrees by pulling air from outside of the engine compartment. The air mass flow to the engine is increased because of the increased airflow and reduced inlet temperature, which translates to more power. The AEM Cold Air Systems are 50 states Street Legal (some models and years still pending) and come with complete instructions for ease of installation. Our system is constructed of lightweight aluminum and then painted with a zirconia based powder coat for superior heat insulating characteristics. The aluminum will not crack in extended use like plastic and it is actually lighter than plastic. The tube diameter and length are matched for each engine to give power over a broad rpm range. Unlike the plastic systems that use a continually diverging cross section, we take advantage of the acoustical energy in the duct to promote cylinder filling during the intake valve-opening event. Our Dyno testing as well as independent dyno tests (see

  • JADE (Java Agent DEvelopment framework) Introductions in PDF
  • A Hands-on Intensive Workshop on agent development using JADE framework, organized by the Gerstner Laboratory. JADE (Java Agent DEvelopment framework) is runtime environment for development of FIPA compliant inter- operable agents. Currently in version 3.0, JADE is the most widely used agent development framework. JADE is open source, distributed under Lesser General Public License. The course is intended for people familiar with Java programming language and the basic concepts of multi-agent systems, who want to start developing agents using JADE. No prior experience with agent programming is needed. Each course participant receives a CD with JADE in- stallation, documentation and course material (slides and example source codes). The course takes place in computer classroom with every participant having own computer (option to use personal laptop provided). We recommend pair programming. Every topic is covered by sample source codes, en- couraging the participants to exercise the knowledge y immediately playing around with the concepts. Participants receive a certificate of participation. Download PDF (1 page only) JADE (Java Agent DEvelopment framework) Introductions in PDF
  • ListProcessor ver 7.2 List-Owner Manual
  • This List-Owner Reference Manual provides an overview to the list-owner commands of the CREN® ListProcessor® list- and file-management software, also known as ListProc®. The commands documented in this reference are not generally available to subscribers who do not own the list affected by the command being used. This reference assumes familiarity with the ListProcessor User Manual and does not replicate that document’s explanation of ListProc’s subscriber commands. This Owner’s manual is one of four documents of which list owners should be aware. All are available via anonymous ftp and Gopher from info.cren.net in the /listproc directory. Each file is available in Postscript (the .ps file extension), RTF (the .rtf file extension) and plain text (no file extension). These files are listed below (base file names are enclosed in parenthesis): 1) The List Owner’s Manual (ownerman) explains in detail how to manage a Download ListProcessor ver 7.2 List-Owner Manual
  • Developing SIP Servlets with WebLogic SIP Server
  • The SIP Servlet API is a part of JAIN APIs and being standardized as JSR116 of JCP (Java Community Process). The SIP Servlet API version 1.0 was published in February, 2003. Note: In this document, the term “SIP Servlet” is used to represent the API, and “SIP servlet” is used to represent an application created with the API. J2EE provides Java Servlet that is a main technology of building Web applications. Although Java Servlet is used only to develop HTTP protocol-based applications on a Web application server, it basically has functions as a generic API for server applications. SIP Servlet is defined as the generic servlet API with SIP-specific functions added. SIP Servlets are very similar to HTTP Servlets, and HTTP servlet developers will quickly adapt to the programming model. The service level defined by both HTTP and SIP Servlets is very similar, and you can easily design applications that support both HTTP and SIP. Listing 1 shows an example of a simple SIP servlet. Listing 1-1 List 1: SimpleSIPServlet.java package com.bea.example.simple; import java.io.IOException; import javax.servlet.*; import javax.servlet.sip.*; public class SimpleSIPServlet extends SipServlet { protected void doMessage(SipServletRequest req) throws ServletException, IOException { SipServletResponse res = req.createResponse(200); res.send(); } } The above example shows a simple SIP servlet that sends back a 200 OK response to the SIP MESSAGE request. As you can see from the list, SIP Servlet and HTTP Servlet have many things in common. Download pdf Developing SIP Servlets with WebLogic SIP Server
