  • Microsoft Office 2003 Word Introduction
  • Microsoft Word is an essential tool for the creation of documents. Its ease of use has made Word one of the most widely used word processing applications currently on the market. Therefore, it's important to become familiar with the various facets of this software, since it allows for compatibility across multiple computers as well as collaborative features. Word is a fairly simple program to use for completing simple tasks. However, it may be more difficult to learn how to explore the more advanced possibilities of Word. Opening Microsoft Word: To run Word on your computer: “Start” >> “Programs” >> “Microsoft Office” >> “Microsoft Office Word 2003.” If there is an icon of Microsoft Word available on your desktop (shaped like a square with a "W" in the middle), you can open up the program by double-clicking it, as well. Making a New Blank Document: When Word is opened, a new blank document should automatically open. If not, then you can begin a new blank document in a variety of ways. First, find the "New Blank Document" icon, which looks like a blank sheet of paper, located underneath the menu bar in Word in what is called the "standard toolbar." Click on the icon to bring up a new blank document. Download pdf Microsoft Office 2003 Word Introduction
  • Deepening the Chasm: Web 2.0, Gaming, and Course Management Systems
  • During the past decade, a gap has appeared between higher education and the rest of the digital world. While academia has moved a great deal of content and activity into course management systems, the World Wide Web has developed a new architecture, usually dubbed “Web 2.0.” Around this time computer gaming has grown into a vital, global industry. Course management system(s) (CMS) have supported a very different world of computermediated communication, and nearly a decade of institutional and individual practice has deepened the difference. We argue that CMS are going to make some efforts to cross that chasm in the near future, but the overall gap is likely to persist. We can glimpse the chasm’s current depths by outlining these two recent cybercultural movements. First, at this point in the World Wide Web’s existence, the quantitative successes of Web 2.0 are wellknown. The blogosphere continues to double in size, now aiming for 100 million active blogs. The wiki world booms, from the rise of Google’s wiki platform (Google Docs) to Wikipedia’s steady expansion (2,389,339 articles in English, as of this writing). Podcasting also grows. According to one measure, 18.5 million people listened to podcasts in 2007, an amount likely to break 30 million by the end of this year. Web 2.0based social networking

  • Label Gallery ActiveX and DDE Programming Guide
  • The most common method of label print is directly from Label Gallery software using its GUI (graphic user interface). But sometimes there might be other requirements for label production. Label Gallery has a wide variety of connectivity and integration options so you do not need to use Label Gallery interactively, but through an ActiveX interface or Dynamic Data Exchange connectivity. Label Gallery can be used as a "print-engine" totally integrated to your custom application and invisible to the end-user eyes. Basically, the end user sees only your custom application that connects to Label Gallery and uses Label Gallery label printing power in the background. The purpose of this manual is to show you how you can control the Label Gallery software from your own application that will be deployed to the end-user. Everything you must know about integration of Label Gallery into your application is described in this manual. The information in this manual is for advanced users and application developers only. If you do not plan to write applications that use integrated Label Gallery to print labels, you can skip reading this manual entirely. If you are interested in Label Gallery connectivity and integration options in general, please refer to the White Paper covering these options. You can download the White Paper from Label Gallery website at http://www.satoworldwide.com/labelgallery/index.htm. All methods and properties of Label Gallery ActiveX object described in this document are available in Label Gallery Plus application. Label Gallery Plus application is available in many editions, like Label Gallery Plus, Label Gallery Plus

  • Short History of STL
  • In October of 1976 I observed that a certain algorithm – parallel reduction – was associated with monoids: collections of elements with an associative operation. That observation led me to believe that it is possible to associate every useful algorithm with a mathematical theory and that such association allows for both widest possible use and meaningful taxonomy. As mathematicians learned to lift theorems into their most general settings, so I wanted to lift algorithms and data structures. One seldom needs to know the exact type of data on which an algorithm works since most algorithms work on many similar types. In order to write an algorithm one needs only to know the properties of operations on data. I call a collection of types with similar properties on which an algorithm makes sense the underlying concept of the algorithm. Also, in order to pick an efficient algorithm one needs to know the complexity of these operations. In other words, complexity is an essential part of the interface to a concept. In the late 70’s I became aware of John Backus’s work on FP. While his idea of programming with functional forms struck me as essential, I realized that his attempt to permanently fix the number of functional forms was fundamentally wrong. The number of functional forms – or as I call them now – generic algorithms is always growing as we discover new algorithms. In 1980 together with Dave Musser and Deepak Kapur I started working on a language Tecton to describe
  • IFAXVIEW (TIFF Viewer) Users Manual
  • IFAXVIEW is a TIFF Viewer that allows you to view Internet FAX received on the PC as a Tagged Image File Format (”TIFF”) attachment to an email. The Internet FAX is a facsimile equipment connected to an Ethernet LAN (Local Area Network) that allows you to send documents over the Internet to a remote Internet FAX or a PC terminal. It also allows you to receive and print an email transmitted by a remote PC. The Internet FAX uses the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (”SMTP”) for communication, which is the same internet protocol used for Electronic Mail (”email”). The document is first scanned by the Internet FAX and converted into a TIFF-F formatted image file, and then transmitted to the remote location as an attachment file to an email using Multi-purpose Internet Mail Extensions (”MIME”) encoding. The email system at the receiving end must support MIME. Otherwise, the attachment file will be detached and lost. When you send an email message to someone, the Internet FAX uses SMTP to transfer your outgoing mail to your SMTP mail server, which in turn uses SMTP to send your mail to the Internet. The IFAXVIEW software displays the image data on the PC by expanding the received TIFF formatted document data file. 2. What IFAXVIEW does IFAXVIEW has the following features. ? Application software running on Windows 95/98/NT and Windows 3.1. ? Retrieves and Displays the image data that was received from an Internet FAX. It is also capable of displaying on the PC
