  • Switching Office Suites from Microsoft Office to OpenOffice.org
  • You've been thinking about it for a while. You've seen the PDF converter and sighed longingly; you've blushed before the skeptical glances of your open-source and anti-Microsoft friends who say "You're still using Microsoft Office?" you're looking at your budget and wondering why you would pay to get Microsoft Office 2007. And you've received Word 2007 files and haven't been able to open them, so you know there's going to be some file format issues no matter what you do. But you haven't switched over to OpenOffice.org. Quite yet. I'm here to help. Think of this as a virtual guide, the written version of me coming over to your house on a Sunday afternoon to help get to know OpenOffice.org and figure out all the things you're not quite sure about. Sit down with this article this weekend and in a few hours you'll feel refreshed, open sourced, and able to hold your head high when you run into those roving gangs of open source supporters. Why Switch? You have your own reasons: price, or principles, or you're setting up a nice cheap Linux laptop for your daughter to use at school. Here are a couple things I like to talk about. Spend your money on something important I realize that since I'm targeting this article at individuals, that the upgrade or full price of Microsoft Office might not make or break you. But if it's you and your family; your small business; your volunteer organization that feeds homeless families...now you even more seriously need
  • Connecting the iPod to a Bravo
  • The first thing I bought a chinch (pic.1) to headphones (pic. 2) cable. Taken the glove box out and the Fiat radio. Fitted the connection cable and 1 two line cable for power (pic.3), had the hole in the dash when I bought the car (prob. a mobile phone holder) Connected the two line cable (pic.3) to the negative ( - ) cable of the car, and the other one to the positive ( + ) witch only has power when the car is running. So the power line has no constant power and the LED that shows charging of the iPod isn't visible when the car is not running. Then I connected the Sony 5700 to the car and inserted the chinch's to the sony unit. (pic.4) This is it for the Sony unit side. Now comes the tricky part (so to say) First I had to find out witch car iPod holder has the charge option and constant level volume output. When connecting an iPod directly to the headphones jack (pic.2), the volume can be adjusted to a higher level from iPod and that can damage the amp. So I decided to buy PodGear CarDock Cradle & Charger (pic.5) (found it in MacWorld, bought it in Austria-closer to my country) - can find it on eBay for sure, regular coast in UK around 35£ inc. Vat. • Using Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy with Diskeeper
  • Diskeeper can be administered network-wide via several different methods. The primary network administration tool for Diskeeper is Diskeeper Administrator Edition, a single point of control for all your Diskeeper administration needs. However, sites using Microsoft Group Policy can use the Diskeeper.adm administrative template file available from Executive Software to control many aspects of Diskeeper operation through Group Policy. The Diskeeper.adm template file is available free of charge from the Executive Software web site at www.executive.com/diskeeper/grouppolicy.asp. Active Directory Users and Computers and the Group Policy Editor are the desktop tools used to administer Group Policy on your network. When the Diskeeper template is installed, these tools will allow you to configure Diskeeper options such as scheduling, defragmentation methods and defragmentation priority. Note: This section assumes you have a certain level of experience using the Group Policy Editor. Refer to the Microsoft Group Policy documentation for complete information about using the Group Policy Editor. 1. To open Active Directory Users and Computers, click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
