In this paper we present experiences with the .NET Framework and Visual Studio.NET which we won in two big projects. Thereby we give hints for the practical use in .NET projects.
We designed and implemented two systems:
• A database maintenance system for the internet risk assessor “MIRA” for the Munich Re. Up to 10 developers were included and the project had a size of 8 man years.
• The core application of the real estate investment company Real I.S. of the Bayerische Landesbank Group. The system was build by a team of up to 14 developers in 20 man years.

CompuCell3D Windows can enhance their simulations by developing customized plugins in C++. In this document we will explain how to set up build system using Cmake and Visual Studio necessary to build additional CompuCell3D plugins.

We assume that you have Visual Studio 2005 and CMake installed on your machine. CMake is free (www.cmake.org) but Visual Studion is not and you might need to purchase appropriate license. Some universities have access to educational licenses for Visual Studion which are either free or have reduced price so you might want to check this before paying full price.

FlashPath for Windows Quick Start 1. Load Software: From the FlashPath software diskette: a. Exit and close all other programs. b. Insert the FlashPath software diskette into your floppy drive. c. Select Start and Run and type A:\setup. Click OK to load software d. Follow the instructions on your screen to load software into the default directory. Note: If you must use a different directory, refer to the Installation and User Guide. e. Reboot (restart) your computer. From the SmartDisk web site: a. Eclipse CDT Tutorial

Eclipse is a framework for IDEs. It provides the infrastructure for the IDE, and then the IDE is completed by using a plug-in for a particular programming language. Plug-ins exist for Java (which was its first application), C/C++, Python, Perl and many others. Eclipse is multi-platform, runnable on Linux, Windows , etc. Eclipse came out of the Websphere project at IBM. Though the Eclipse project is now fully open-source, it is still strongly supported by IBM. In this tutorial, we will describe in step by step how to edit, compile and execute a C project using Eclipse in your EPS 254 lab computer.
