Effect of pH on Hair Resilience ManualThere are three components to this lesson, outlined below. Complete the activities in order to answer the central question of this lesson: “How does understanding the chemistry of hair care, including the role of pH, help in the development of better hair care products?”
Part I: Determining the pH of shampoo samples
Using the shampoo samples given to you by your teacher, determine the pH of each of the samples. You can determine pH by using a method familiar to you, such as using pH strips or probes. Record the pH of your shampoo samples below:
Shampoo name pHPart II: Treating hair samples in solutions of varying pH Complete the following activity in your lab group and answer the questions that follow.
Procedure:
1. Obtain 4 wooden splints; 4 test dishes; 20 strands of the same type of hair; and 4 strips of tape.
2. Clean the 4 dishes in pH neutral solution and rinse thoroughly with distilled water. (Be sure to clean all glassware after each use so that the samples are not contaminated.)
3. Label the test dishes pH 2.0, pH 6.0, pH 10.0, and pH 12.0. Add 10 mL of the appropriate pH solution to each of the dishes.
4. Tape 5 strands of hair to each splint with one end fastened, and the other end free to be immersed in the test solutions. Label the ends of each splint with pH 2.0, pH 6.0, pH 10.0, and pH 12.0.
5. Put each splint into the corresponding solution. The well-known approach to program verification is based on Hoare-like axiomatic semantics. Difficulties of developing compact and transparent axiomatic semantics of object-oriented programming languages are connected with such constructs as overloading, dynamic binding of methods, exception handling, static initialization of classes. Axiomatic semantics has been proposed for different sequential subsets of Java in [3, 4, 7–10]. While compact and transparent axiomatic semantics has been developed for separate difficult Java constructs, it turned out to be cumbersome and inconvenient for the practical use in the case of a wide sequential Java subset.
In this paper we consider a wide sequential C# subset called C#-light. C#-light programs include all sequential C# constructs except for attributes, destructors, using statements, checked and unchecked constructs and unsafe code constructs. To simplify C#-light program verification, C#-light is translated into an intermediate language C#-kernel, for which a Hoare-like axiomatic semantics is proposed. Unlike standard axiomatic semantics, our forward rules can generate lazy verification conditions which include functional symbols denoting postponed extractions of invariants of labelled statements as well as postponed invocations of methods and delegates. These functional symbols are eliminated by refinement algorithms.

To establish a connection, a script typically configures and then connects the modem. To terminate a connection, the script disconnects the modem by hanging up and then restores the modem settings that were in effect before the call.
Each type of modem used with Apple Remote Access requires a modem script. Many scripts are provided with Apple Remote Access (see “Available Modem Scripts” in the Preface of this book for more information).
If no script is provided for your modem, you must write one using Communication Command Language (CCL), a programming language that configures and controls your modem. This chapter describes the basic elements and structure of a CCL file.

Each line of CCL code consists of one instruction that is made up of a command and its parameters, if any. Modem commands are used as parameters of CCL commands. For example, the command write "ATDT^113"
