Programs that fail to use appropriate bounds checking can allow an attacker to write data beyond the intended boundaries of a buffer and thus possibly corrupt control structures in the program. This enables an attacker to execute arbitrary code with the same privilege as the victim process. An attacker’s preference is usually to overwrite the saved instruction pointer that is pushed onto the stack before a function call or to overwrite a function pointer that will be used later in the program. It is also possible to use these attacks simply to overwrite other data.
This kind of attack is harder to prevent but, fortunately, is less common than the previous type and is not discussed here. Buffer overflows first gained attention with the release of the famed Morris worm which exploited a buffer overflow in fingerd [1]. Despite the attack used in the Morris worm, buffer overflows did not become popular until the release of two papers that detailed the discovery and exploitation of these vulnerabilities [2,3]. This paper discusses vulnerabilities in two compiler-level protection mechanisms, StackGuard and Point-Guard. While this paper takes a critical look at both of these solutions, it does not intend to make them seem insignificant. The attacks described in this paper help to show how StackGuard and PointGuard should be complemented to construct a more complete protection system.

OID release 2.1.1.0.0 is vulnerable to a potential buffer overflow problem which may permit unauthorized access to the operating system. Products Oracle Internet Directory (OID) release 2.1.1.0.0 On Unix platforms 1. Change the ownership of executable “ oidldapd”from root user to the UNIX user who owns the OID installation in the operating system. 2. Set the file permissions on “ oidldapd”to 710. 3. Change the ownership of executable “ oidmon”from root user to the UNIX user who owns the OID installation in the operating system.
4. Set the file permissions on “ oidmon”to 710. 5. Remove (or back up) OID monitor and dispatcher log files before restarting the OID instance. On Windows 2000 On Windows NT 1) OID release 3.0.1.1.0 (shipping with Oracle9i) on all Unix platforms 2) OID release 3.0.1.1.0 (shipping with Oracle9i) on Windows 3) OID release 2.1.1.3.0 (shipping with Oracle8i) on Solaris.

NI Measurement Studio dramatically reduces application development time with ActiveX and .NET controls, object- oriented measurement hardware interfaces, advanced analysis libraries, scientific user interface controls, measurement data networking, wizards, interactive code designers, and highly extensible classes.
Building on more than 15 years of measurement programming expertise, National Instruments created Measurement Studio with tools designed specifically for Microsoft Visual Basic, Visual C#, and Visual C++ to bring you simplified integration with data acquisition and instrument control interfaces for easier hardware integration. With Measurement Studio, you use your Visual Studio programming knowledge to get measurements started quickly and create a complete measurement solution.
Measurement Studio delivers an interactive design approach for developing measurement and automation systems inside Visual C++. Because the tools for Visual C++ integrate into the environment, you can use them exactly as you would native Microsoft tools. You can use the Measurement Studio AppWizard together with controls and class libraries to easily create your C++ measurement system. The AppWizard creates a project according to your specifications and includes a code template and the measurement tools you need to design your application. These tools include C++ classes for instrument control, data acquisition, data analysis, and live data transfer across the Internet. In addition, custom controls are included for creating your measurement user interface. Data object classes, which seamlessly encapsulate and pass data from acquisition to analysis to presentation, link the measurementFiat Bravo/a - How to change the in car light bulbs and access the aerial base screwFirst thing you got to do is take off the plastic covers on the ceiling light. (circled red) You do it by taking a knife or a small flat screwdriver and you pull it off by pushing the knife in the arrow direction. Then after you have removed the plastic covers off, you will see two screws in the holes. Unscrew these out and pull the light will fall off like in the pic. Then just pull it off.
After the light is off, unplug these connector – it may be more in your case. After you have the light free. Take off the white plastic lid by pressing the red circled point in the arrow direction and pulling it upwards.
After that, you have the access to the bulbs. They are 5W bulbs. After you change the bulbs do the reverse to get the light back on Aerial base – taking off
After you have removed the light off the ceiling. You will see a nut that holds the aerial base to the cars roof. Unscrew the nut and take off all contacts off the screw. (arrows yellow) To get the base off, press it from inside the car upwards and it will pop out.(blue arrow) And that is it, now put the new base in. put all the contacts on the new base screw and tighten the nut again.

Visual BASIC. The methods used for accessing the underlying documents, however, are
vastly different and have essentially no compatibility with each other. Entire books have been written dealing with the differences between Visual BASIC 6 (VB6), Visual BASIC.NET (VB.NET), and Visual BASIC for Applications (VBA). This chapter is only an overview of issues concerning compatibility between the OpenOffice.org BASIC and Visual BASIC. I use VBA, VB6 and VB.NET to refer to the specific versions and VB to generically refer to either or both versions.
To convert VB macros that do not access the underlying documents, my first step is to bring them into OOo and fix the syntax errors. The second step is to remove the errors introduced due to differences in behavior. Thorough testing is required to avoid subtle problems. Significant code changes are required to convert the sections that access the underlying document structures.
VBA is the variant used by Microsoft Office. VB.NET was released after VBA so it is possible that a later version of VBA will follow in the direction of VB.NET. Some of the keywords supported by OOo BASIC and deprecated when moving from VB6 and VBA to VB.NET...

More and more are we seeing products of multimedia technology that includes 3D Animations. The creative and economical use of 3D animation can be evidenced in many of the released animated features like games or movies. Backgrounds, camera moves, crowd scenes, and machines of all descriptions have been modeled and animated digitally. 3D companies are striving to improve the entertainment value of their products. The images created with these tools will become more and more sophisticated with each passing year.
In this paper, two of the newest 3D Animation Software will be discussed and compared. One of the software is named Poser, and the other one is Maya.
Poser 5 is the ultimate 3D-character design and animation tool for artists and animators. It allows animators to create 3D figures by using a diverse collection of ready-to-use 3D human and animal models. Poser’s innovative interface makes figure design, posing, and animating fast and easy. This product is innovated by Curious Labs, Inc.

People need to be able to trust computer systems as the dependence on them increases. The Trustworthy Computing vision (CRA, 2003) refers to computer systems that are intuitive, controllable, reliable and predictable and that ensure availability and security. Secure cod- ing is not trivial and poor code security management may leave the developed web application vulnerable to attack or turn the application into a launch pad for serious attacks.
This paper is organized as follows: Section 2 provides background information to secure coding in web applications. Section 4 outlines the aims and objectives of the project. Section 5 briefly describes the design of the developed secure framework. Section 6 highlights the achievements of the project and Section 7 presents a conclusion. 2 Background Security vulnerabilities in a system can be at the application, server and network level. Unpatched software, viruses and trojan horses may all expose a system to attack. These security issues should be addressed in any system; however these can easily be bypassed with an attack on a web application. The aim of this project is to focus on the application-level security vulnerabilities which are introduced in the next subsections. (Howard and LeBlanc, 2003)

A friend of mine who I considered to be a knowledgeable, experienced boater recently made a remark in passing that startled me: “The most important tool in my toolbox is my checkbook.” He was serious. Everytime he noticed a drop of lube oil or antifreeze in his bilge or that his engines didn’t sound the way they should, he’d call his mechanic.
He said it wasn’t worth his time to investigate problems himself. “That’s fine,” I said, “but you often cruise for several weeks, right? So...
