  • How Web 2.0 technologies move Talent Management
  • For many of today’s companies, a greater volume of work is expected from a limited number of employees. This environment makes it essential for companies to have a strategy in place to nurture and track employee talent. A lack of effective talent management can critically impact business operations and employee productivity. For example, companies without adequate sales and support training programs take longer to bring new products to market; customer retention issues arise from poorly trained support representatives; and employee productivity remains low when workforce talent is not aligned with business processes and goals. Since the 1990s, the process of talent management has been utilized by companies to develop workers’ skills, improve overall performance, and ultimately enhance the corporate bottom line. Today, forward-looking companies have begun to develop talent that is aligned with their business by tapping into online communities—known collectively as Web 2.0 technologies—such as blogs, wikis, and social networks. This paper discusses the morphing of traditional talent management into a more sophisticated, collaborative method of cultivating employee skills using Web 2.0 technologies. Transforming traditional Talent Management Talent management—the acquisition and development of employee talent—has become somewhat of a buzzword due to factors such as globalization and outsourcing to foreign markets. One key aspect of talent management is performance management: how companies develop and rate individual employee performance. Yet talent management equates to far more than performance management. It is an overarching umbrella that encompasses the means by which companies attract, develop, promote, and retain their employees. The components of talent management
  • AED Challenge User Guide and Administrator Guide
  • AED Challenge is a training tool that provides a computer-simulated environment for practicing automated external defibrillation (AED) skills. It gives realistic practice to students who are learning to use an AED and helps experienced AED users keep their skills sharp. AED Challenge simulates a variety of sudden cardiac arrest scenarios. Your objective is to provide rapid treatment and defibrillation. The program gives advice, feedback, and scores performance. AED Challenge gives defibrillation-trained personnel quality practice whenever it is needed. AED Challenge follows the 2005 American Heart Association (AHA) and European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) AED Challenge was designed for review and practice of AED protocol knowledge by emergency responders. It is not a self-instructional program. It is intended to supplement training conducted by a qualified instructor and supervised by a licensed physician. This application is not a replacement for initial hands-on training using an actual device. The treatment recommendations contained in this application meet national and international guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated defibrillation. It is not intended to be a substitute for device operating instructions and local protocols. Download pdf AED Challenge User Guide and Administrator Guide
  • BRL-CAD Tutorial Series: Volume II – Introduction to MGED
  • Launching the MGED Program To launch the MGED program, type mged at the Terminal (tty) prompt and then press the ENTER key. This brings up two main windows: the MGED Command Window and the MGED Graphics Window (sometimes called the Geometry Window). Both windows will initially be blank, awaiting input from you. To leave the program at any time, at the Command Line type either the letter q or the word quit and then press the ENTER key. 2. Entering Commands in the Command Window You can type in commands at the mged> prompt. Many experienced UNIX users prefer this method because it allows them to quickly create a model (which we sometimes refer to as a “design”) without having to point and click on a lot of options. The complete listing of editing commands and what they do can be found in Appendix A. If sphere.g already exists, MGED will open the sphere.g database as the program is launched. 5. Using the GUI to Open or Create a Database Alternatively, once you have launched MGED, you can open an existing database or create a new database using the GUI menus (at the top of the Command or Graphics Window) by clicking on File and then either Open or New. Both options bring up a small dialog box. The Open dialog box will ask you to type in the name of an existing database. The New dialog box will ask you to type in the name of a new database. Click
  • BF2 Single Player Editor Tutorial
  • This is for the benefit of newcomers to the modding scene to give them some insight into the BF2 editor and its features for changing gameplay objects and using the new single player tools. I will be showing you how to use the current navmesh area to set up your own custom playing areas and objects. This tutorial will focus on using the stock battlefield 2 map, "Songhua Stalemate." I'm currently navmeshing this map, so thought I would kill two birds with one stone :) We are going to make a complete backup of your BF2 directory. Go to mods/bf2 and copy and paste it. When that's finished you should have 'Copy of bf2' there. This is going to be your untouched multiplayer and backup version if you completely screw up your files playing around in the editor. Don't umm and ahh...trust me - DO IT. The reason I'm not getting you to setup your own mod directory is that there are a few complications in getting a custom mod working perfectly in the editor, whereas the bf2 mod folder is 100% supported. I chose this path to make it as simple as possible to work for the 'layman.' If you ever want to play online just rename the bf2 folder we are modding to something like - "bf2_modding" and rename the 'Copy of bf2' back to its original 'bf2' name. Easy. • AutoCAD® LT 2005 Tutorial with MultiMedia CD
  • Learning to use a CAD system is similar to learning a new language. We need to begin with the basic alphabet and learn how to use the basic alphabet correctly and effectively Material through practice. This will require learning some new concepts and skills as well as learning a different vocabulary. All CAD systems create designs using basic geometric entities. Most of the constructions used in technical designs are based upon two-dimensional planar geometry. The method and number of operations that are required to accomplish the construction are different from one system to another. Download PDF for AutoCAD® LT 2005 Tutorial with MultiMedia CD
  • What Is Web 2.0 Design Patterns and Business Models for the Next Generation of Software
  • The bursting of the dot-com bubble in the fall of 2001 marked a turning point for the web. Many people concluded that the web was overhyped, when in fact bubbles and consequent shakeouts appear to be a common feature of all technological revolutions. Shakeouts typically mark the point at which an ascendant technology is ready to take its place at center stage. The pretenders are given the bum's rush, the real success stories show their strength, and there begins to be an understanding of what separates one from the other. The concept of "Web 2.0" began with a conference brainstorming session between O'Reilly and MediaLive International. Dale Dougherty, web pioneer and O'Reilly VP, noted that far from having "crashed", the web was more important than ever, with exciting new applications and sites popping up with surprising regularity. What's more, the companies that had survived the collapse seemed to have some things in common. Could it be that the dot-com collapse marked some kind of turning point for the web, such that a call to action such as "Web 2.0" might make sense? We agreed that it did, and so the Web 2.0 Conference was born. The list went on and on. But what was it that made us identify one application or approach as "Web 1.0" and another as "Web 2.0"? (The question is particularly urgent because the Web 2.0 meme has become so widespread that companies are now pasting it on as a marketing buzzword, with no real understanding of just

  • Test Workbench in the SAP System (BC-CAT-PLN) Tutorial
  • Use Intensive test phases, with function and acceptance tests in all phases, are essential to the success of an R/3 project. This starts with the first implementation of an SAP System and continues through all modifications of the system to customer requirements by customizing, modification and customer developments. SAP provides the Test Workbench to support customers in this area. From the test planning stage onwards, the Test Organizer in the Test Workbench provides a tool to create a structure of the applications to be tested. Individual test cases can be created when planning is complete. Use the Computer Aided Test Tool [Ext.] (CATT) in the Test Workbench. Test cases can be descriptions for manual tests, or test case scripts which are to be performed automatically. The test cases created can be put in the outline structure created during planning, in the Test Organizer. This provides a constant overview of the progress of test case creation.
