  • Getting Started with Microsoft Access 2000
  • Microsoft Access is a powerful data-management tool that allows you to input, store, and report data in an attractive and efficient way. Although Access has templates and “wizards” to help you easily set up a database that can suit simple purposes, it can also run extremely advanced functions. This handout is intended to introduce new users to the basic functions of Access. What is a database? Before we start on the construction of a practice database, we should review the basic concepts of database design. It is important to thoroughly plan your database before you begin its construction to guarantee that your database will work correctly. Concepts and Terms Access allows you to create a database of information in which data values are stored in fields. A collection of fields makes a record, and a group of records makes a table. - A database is a collection of related data that is stored in one or more tables. - A table is a collection of related information stored in rows and columns. The power of Access is that it allows you to link data together even if it resides in separate tables. - A field is a column of a table that contains a category of information. - A record is all of the fields for one particular object – such as a person’s last name, first name, and telephone number would comprise a record. - A data value is the smallest unit of information. A key to success with Access is to store data in the smallest

  • Deploying CFMLon ASP.NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework Using BlueDragon
  • BlueDragon 7.0.1 for the Microsoft .NET Framework (commonly referred to as BlueDragon.NET) allows CFML applications to be deployed on Windows servers running the Microsoft .NET Framework, the Microsoft IIS web server, and ASP.NET. The Microsoft .NET Framework is built-in to Windows 2008 Server, Windows Vista, and Windows 2003 Server; and, can be installed onto Windows 2000 and Windows XP. While most web applications on .NET are built with ASP.NET and other components of the .NET framework, BlueDragon makes it possible for the .NET Framework to also process CFML applications. Indeed, BlueDragon.NET is the only way to run CFML on the .NET Framework. BlueDragon.NET is about empowering CFML to integrate with your organization’s .NET development and take full advantage of the enterprise features of this strategic platform This document describes how to install BlueDragon.NET and run CFML applications via the Microsoft IIS web server and the .NET framework, without requiring the installation of proprietary Adobe ColdFusion server software. See section 6 for details on the technical underpinnings of how BlueDragon.NET is implemented. This document also offers a brief overview of the .NET Framework. More importantly, it explains the many benefits of .NET deployment for CFML developers. It discusses the many forms of integration that are possible between CFML pages and native .NET components, including ASP.NET pages. Section 3 discusses these many benefits, and the details and code examples of integrating CFML and ASP.NET are detailed in a separate document, Integrating CFML with ASP.NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework. • OpenOffice.org 2.x Setup Guide
  • This document is designed to provide users with instructions on installing OpenOffice.org 2.x and its successors on their systems. Starting with OpenOffice.org 2.x, installation is done using the native installers available on each system. This means that installation only requires that you unpack the download image and then launch the local tool. Using the native installers will provide better upgrades et cetera. Language packs are mostly available from each Native Language Community and may also be available from http://oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/ plus the appropriate release. RPM-based Installation 1. Unpack the downloaded image into a directory. For example,Currently, the following command would unpack into the current directory: tar xvzf Ooo_2.0.xxx_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz . 1. su to root, if necessary. 2. cd into the directory with the unpacked image. This could be RPMS. 3. Then execute rpm -Uvh *rpm for the standard installation in /opt. If you prefer to install in another directory, try rpm -Uvh --prefix // *.rpm or something similar. When relocating, only relocate the base rpms, in other words, do not include any user interface RPMs as these must go in their default locations for proper system integration. Note: Upgrade the core first and then upgrade the user interface. Separating steps 3 and 4 ensures a good upgrade. 4. cd into the desktop-integration directory and execute rpm -Uvh for the menu rpm that applies to your system. For example, on a RedHat-based system, you would use rpm -Uvh openoffice.org-redhat-menus-.noarch.rpm or similar. 5. Download and install any language packs needed for OpenOffice.org. For example, if you relocated Openoffice.org, you need rpm -Uvh --prefix ///
  • The 12-in. PowerBook Thin and (Feature) Rich Review
  • Just 4.6 pounds light enough to carry most anywhere, yet hefty enough to convey a feeling of solid construction. I believe it was Walt Mossberg at The Wall Street Journal who best summed up the 12-in. PowerBook. It s like one of those all-metal Leica cameras that just reeks of quality. I have to admit having taken a roller-coaster ride of sorts in the past couple of years since Ap p l e i n t roduced its aluminum PowerBooks. I fell fir s t for the 17-in. model (such widescreen real estate), then swooned for the first-generation 12-in. model (a hot little number in more ways than one, espe-cially when you sat it in your lap), then decided that for most users the midrange 15-in. model is the perfect blend of portability and power. Along the way, I ve bought, borrowed or used just about eve ry combo of PowerBook features that Apple has built, and while I seem to have fin a l l y settled on the 17-in. model for my own use (I have one of the newer 1.67-GHz G4 PowerBooks at home), the entry - s i ze model is no slouch. T he old adage that you can never be too thin or too rich seems like a tailor-made description of what road warriors want in their laptops: thin, lightweight machines that are feature-rich and, of course, inexpensive. • Safe Runtime Examination of Data Structures in C Programs
  • What: We are developing a tool to track variables and their values in C programs as they change at runtime. Because of the low-level, unrestricted memory access the language allows, the challenge lies in collecting accurate information without disrupting the program’s execution. Our approach combines techniques from profiling with memory tracking to analyze dynamic allocation throughout the lifetime of a program. Why: Dynamic program analysis provides useful tools for documenting, debugging, and improving the quality of programs. An example is the Daikon tool, which detects likely invariants (logical statements) about variables in programs. Daikon uses separate front-ends to observe the execution of Java, Perl, and C programs, but the current C front-end [2] has limited functionality. The freedom that C gives programmers to control the contents of memory presents a challenge to such automated tools when determining which variables are valid and what they refer to. A robust C front-end for Daikon is important so that it can be used with the abundance of software written in that language. The source-rewriting approach employed by the current C front-end works well only for small, self-contained, and well-behaved programs because it changes the layout of a program’s data structures. We are implementing a new approach that is applicable to a larger class of programs, including those that require access to external libraries. This enhanced support will allow us to compare Daikon-based techniques with ones developed by other researchers using standard benchmarks. It will also support investigations into how dynamic invariant detection can be
  • Montana Motorcycle Supplement 2005-2006 Manual PDF
  • What you do before you start a trip goes a long way toward determining whether or not you’ll get where you want to go safely. Before taking off on any trip, a safe rider makes a point to: 1. Wear the right gear. 2. Become familiar with the motorcycle. 3. Check the motorcycle equipment. 4. Be a responsible rider. WEAR THE RIGHT GEAR When you ride, your gear is “right” if it protects you. In any crash, you have a far better chance of avoiding serious injury if you wear: • An approved helmet. • Face or eye protection. • Protective clothing. HELMET USE Crashes can occur - particularly among untrained, beginning riders. And one out of every five motorcycle crashes results in head or neck injuries. Head injuries are just as severe as neck injuries — and far more common. Crash analyses show that head and neck injuries account for a majority of serious and fatal injuries. • Research and Implementation of E-commerce Platform Based on .NET Framework
  • Nowadays, transacting business through E-commerce platform has become an important business trading way in modern society. E-commerce has been applied to literally every aspect of our society. The requirements of users are variable, different methods are in need of realizing E-commerce, even the deployment platforms are different. The JSP, ASP, HTML and other traditional scripting language has become unable to meet the needs of designing a complex system, even if it has been realized, the coupling between codes, the configuration environment and system deployment dependency fall far short of various requirements of users. It is a highly skilled work which demands good conception of beauty and much professional knowledge of the program designers. However, it is difficult to fulfill the needs in reality. The .NET Framework is Microsoft's comprehensive and consistent programming model for building applications that have visually stunning user experiences, seamless and secure communication, and the ability to model a range of business processes. It includes a large library of coded solutions to prevent common programming problems and a virtual machine that manages the execution of programs written specifically for the framework. The .NET Framework is a key Microsoft offering and is intended to be used by most new applications created for the Windows platform. The coded solutions that form the framework's Base Class Library cover a large range of programming needs in a number of areas, including user interface, data access, database connectivity, cryptography, web application development, numeric algorithms, and network communications. The class library is used by
