  • The Importance of C# Within the Microsoft .NET Framework
  • The Microsoft .NET software platform integrates various aspects of software development. In .NET applications can be written in a variety of programming languages and can be either stand-alone or web-based. A lab module for CS 453 Electronic Commerce Technologies was developed that instructs students on how to develop complex e-commerce websites using the programming language C# within the Microsoft .NET framework. This project and thesis provided insight into the power of C# and the .NET framework. Student evaluations were constructive and positive overall. There were many good suggestions for expansion of the C# lab module. The Microsoft .NET software platform integrates various aspects of software development. The .NET framework is installed on all machines that contain applications designed in the Visual Studio .NET Integrated Development Environment (IDE). This IDE allows software developers to create fully deployable applications. These applications can be written in a variety of programming languages and can be either stand-alone or web-based. The programming language C# (pronounced see-sharp) is a central language in .NET that evolved from the languages Java and C++. C# and the Microsoft .NET framework has advantages over older languages that make it worth learning. Because there is very little support for C# and the .NET framework in the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science, few UVA students graduate with basic knowledge of this technology. This problem must be rectified so UVA graduates can be effective in the IT industry. To address this problem, in this project a lab module for CS 453
  • AutoCAD® LT 2006 Tutorial
  • In order to become effective in using a CAD system, we must learn to create geometric entities quickly and accurately. In learning to use a CAD system, lines and circles are the first two, and perhaps the most important two, geometric entities that we need to master Copyrighted the skills in creating and modifying. Straight lines and circles are used in almost all technical designs. In examining the different types of planar geometric entities, we can see that triangles and polygons are planar figures bounded by straight lines. Ellipses and splines can be constructed by connecting arcs with different radii. As we gain some Material experience in creating lines and circles, similar procedures can be applied to create other geometric entities. In this lesson, we will examine the different ways of creating lines and circles in AutoCAD® LT 2006. Download PDF for AutoCAD® LT 2006 Tutorial

  • Visual Studio Tools for Office Sample Chapter
  • Now that we have considered the basic pattern of the Office object models, let us consider how developers pattern and build their Office solutions. There are three patterns that most solutions built using Office follow. • Office automation executable • Office add-in • Code behind an Office document An automation executable is a program separate from Office that controls and automates an Office application. An automation executable can be created with development tools such as Visual Studio .NET 2005. A typical example is a stand-alone console application or Windows Forms application that starts up an Office application and then automates it to perform some task. To start a solution built this way, the user of the solution starts the automation executable that will in turn start up the Office application. Unlike the other two patterns, the automation code does not run in the Office process but runs in its own process and talks cross process to the Office process being automated. An add-in is a class in an assembly (DLL) that Office loads and creates when needed. An add-in runs in process with the Office application rather than requiring that a separate process from the Office application is running. To start a solution built this way, the user of the solution starts the Office application associated with the add-in. • Protecting Your Xedos Vehicle
  • Fuel Requirements Engine Exhaust Gas Precautions (Carbon Monoxide) Operating Precautions for Catalytic Converters Use only unleaded petrol with an octane rating of at least 95 (Research Octane Number) conforming to DIN 51 607. You may use unleaded petrol with an octane rating of at least 90 (Research Octane Number) at slightly reduced performance. WARNING! Never use leaded petrol in your Xedos Vehicle if it has a catalytic converter. The lead will accumulate on the oxygen sensor and the catalyst within the converter. This will result in a malfunction of the emission control system, causing poor performance. If you believe the engine is not functioning properly, consult an Authorised Xedos Dealer as soon as possible. Engine exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide. Though colourless and odourless, it is dangerous, even lethal, if inhaled. • Carbon monoxide can be present with other exhaust fumes. Therefore, if you smell exhaust fumes of any kind inside your vehicle, have it inspected and repaired immediately by an Authorised Xedos dealer. Do not drive with exhaust fumes present, but if you must, do so only with all windows fully open. • Do not operate the engine in confined or closed areas (such as garages) any more than is necessary to move the vehicle to and from the area. • When the vehicle is stopped in an unconfined area for more than a short time with the engine running, adjust the heating or cooling system to draw outside air into the vehicle. • Never sit in a parked or stopped vehicle for any length of time with
  • Microsoft SQL Server Always On Technologies
  • The Microsoft SQL Server Storage Solution Review Program is a specific SQL Server program that enables storage solution providers to highlight those storage solutions and configurations, via the SQL Server “Always On” labeling, that they have successfully reviewed against core functional Microsoft SQL Server storage requirements. The core requirements defined herein must be met for reliable, highly available SQL Server storage systems. The program does not define or review the performance characteristics of storage solutions. Please note that the “Always On” Storage Solution Review Program is not a Microsoft certification, qualification, or logo program. Microsoft makes no warranties or representations with regard to third-party storage solutions, including without limitation regarding the supportability of such third-party storage solutions. The “Always On” Program details the core requirement for the SQL Server Storage Solution Review Program. Storage system capabilities are divided into two categories: required or recommended. The required capabilities are detailed below with a description of the requirement. Microsoft Windows Logo Certification Microsoft Windows logo certification helps ensure the safety of Microsoft SQL Server data by testing various aspects of the products. • Simplifying the Service Delivery Environment - How to remain relevant in the Web 2.0 era
  • To remain relevant in the Web 2.0 era it is important for an operator to first identify the unique network assets they have and then design an architecture that will maximize their usage, while at the same time protect them. Mobile operators are currently at risk of becoming bit-pipes as a result of the latest web technologies and properties. Competition is becoming very intense and operator revenues are likely to substantially decrease as a result. And by the time a mobile industry standards committee has the chance to meet, analyze and agree on a situation or latest protocol to create and deliver a new service, numerous Web 2.0 sites will have already come and gone. If mobile operators want to remain relevant, they will have to open the networks and allow innovation to flourish. This is the role of either a Service Delivery Platform, or an effective Service Delivery Environment created by operators and based on their key assets and strengths. In general, a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) has four main assets that ensure competitive advantage compared to content or application service providers (ASPs). Identity MNOs have the necessary infrastructure to manage the identity of a subscriber. Once a subscriber is on the network, the MNO can provide identity information to the application provider. There is no need for a new login process when using a service. A Service Delivery Environment should facilitate delivery of subscriber identity to authorised ASPs. Billing MNOs have a billing relationship with the subscriber. They can enable content and application

  • Integrating RDBMS into an LDAP Environment
  • In this tutorial, we will assume that our organization has a single LDAP directory containing some information about our users, while a MySQL database is used to contain further information about users that is accessible via a web interface. For now, we will simply work toward providing a means for LDAP-ready applications to access data within the MySQL database used by our web application. This is easily achieved using VDS. Assumptions 1. VDS is installed and configured properly; VDS is currently running. 2. An LDAP directory such as Active Directory is already installed and accessible from the computer on which VDS is installed. 3. A MySQL database server is already installed and accessible from the computer on which VDS is installed. 4. A MySQL database called "test" has been created, and contains a table called "users" with a schema that contains the following items: `uid` varchar(25) NOT NULL, `password` varchar(40) NOT NULL, `Title` varchar(255) default '', `FirstName` varchar(255) default '', `LastName` varchar(255) default '', `Company` varchar(255) default '', `EmailDisplayName` varchar(255) default '', `EmailAddress` varchar(255) default '' 5. The MySQL table called "users" is populated with at least one entry. 6. The LDAP directory is accessible on port 389 (default ldap port) and the MySQL server is accessible on port 3306 (default mysql port). 7. Port 3890 is available on the computer in which VDS is installed. Download pdf Integrating RDBMS into an LDAP Environment
