  • Britney’s Guide to Hacking NT in 5 Easy Steps Tutorial
  • This paper is part of a series of educational pieces, to illuminate the importance of a secure environment on the Internet. Too often we hear or see “solutions” to the security problem, promising a silver bullet to stop hackers in their tracks. The scary part is, many IS managers take these promises as truth, and forget about security as soon as they have their firewall in place. Security is a work in progress, it is a job that is never done, an evolving ever changing landscape of problems, and it is easy to see why many people find the task so daunting, that it is swept under the carpet. It is an expensive and time consuming job, and never easy to accomplish, but I believe these problems need to be brought to light and dealt with. In order to keep up with security needs, the latest exploits have to be tracked, systems patched, the network constantly monitored, and tested. New exploits appear daily, allowing script kiddies, as they are called, easy and complete access over your system, which may contain valuable or sensitive personal or financial data. • Compiling Eclipse Applications for Windows With GCJ/MinGW
  • In this document, we examine the creation of native (Windows) executables for Eclipse applications (not for Eclipse itself). While we have concentrated on Windows aspects, the equivalent systems should work without any difficulty on Linux. We will eventually test the generation of native Linux executables. The advantage of compiled Eclipse application executables is that they do not require the JRE, they are self-contained except for the one swt dll. The applications can be distributed in zip format and can be moved around on a machine without requiring changes to the registry (there is no information saved in the Windows registry). GCC and MinGW: To compile Java applications to run on Windows, download the MinGW build of GCC/GCJ 3.3 for win32 from http://www.thisiscool.com/gcc_mingw.htm. This build uses a slightly older version of Eclipse (Eclipse 2.0.2) but it worked without any problems on the applications that we tested. This build includes a build of the SWT libraries so that the entire Eclipse application can be compiled. (The Swing libraries have not yet been ported to GCC/GCJ.) Special thanks are due to Mohan Embar and Ranjit Mathew for their work in building this win32 version. Download pdf Compiling Eclipse Applications for Windows With GCJ/MinGW

  • Wrecking Ball Tutorial
  • In this tutorial you will use 3D Studio Max 6 and reactor to set up a physics simulation. Using these animation tools you will create a wrecking ball (swinging chain with heavy ball on the end used to break things, see figure 1). This tutorial will touch on some of the key elements to remember when using reactor. After completing this tutorial you will be able to create chains and hopefully you will avoid common mistakes that often frustrate people when using these techniques. This tutorial will give you the knowledge to explore and experiment with most of the reactor tools. If used properly, reactor is a powerful tool. To Get Started: It Only Takes One, Create the Chain-Link Step 1. Open 3D Studio Max 6, or if it is already open, reset the scene. Step 2. To start, draw a Torus in the front view-port. Radius 1 should be 60. Radius 2 should be 6. Use 26 segments and 15 sides. The parameter’s roll out should look like figure 2 Step 3. Now convert the torus into an editable poly and activate the vertex sub-object. Step 4. Now drag-select the top half of the torus. This will select the vertices on the top of Torus01. Select the move tool. Move these vertices up to create the shape of a chain link. In the picture below the vertices were moved 72 units up. See Figure 3 for an example of this step. • AOP Support for C#
  • This paper summarizes the novel features of our AOP extensions to C# language [3]. It also reports the experience gained while restructuring and enhancing a shared source compiler. Here we describe a general global view of this project, named CAMEO. The initial aim of CAMEO is to implement AspectJ like language support enabling aspect-oriented modularization in C#. Other goals include support for structural aspects that harness Common Language Runtime (CLR) features [1], incremental or partial aspect weaving, and configurable advice weaving. A preliminary source-to-source translator implementation is available for internal use. We intend to evolve this framework for exploring new ideas in AOP and metaprogramming. Determining a collection of joinpoints in the base source involves performing a detailed control flow analysis of the code. Conducting flow analysis directly on the source text is an expensive operation in most practical cases. Since traditional compilers routinely parse source text and build Abstract Syntax Graphs (ASGs), it makes sense to make use of available infrastructure from implemented translators. In the CAMEO project, we counted on Microsoft’s Shared Source Common Language Infrastructure (SSCLI) implementation to meet these requirements. SSCLI [2] is an implementation of Microsoft’s CLR architecture. Apart from the implementation of a Virtual Execution Engine and host of other tools, it includes C++ implementation of a C# language translator. The latter is a complete implementation of the ECMA standard [3] and its source code is available for modifications only for academic and research purposes. The SSCLI provided compiler generates Microsoft’s Intermediate Language (MSIL) code. Because
  • Introduction to the Controller Area Network (CAN) PDF Manual
  • A controller area network (CAN) is ideally suited to the many high-level industrial protocols embracing CAN and ISO 11898 as their physical layer. Its cost, performance, and upgradeability provide for tremendous flexibility in system design. This paper presents a brief introduction to the CAN operating principles, the implementation of a basic CAN bus using Texas Instrument’s CAN transceivers and DSPs, and a discussion of the robust error detection and fault confinement mechanisms. Some of the properties of CAN, especially relating to the electrical layer and features of transceiver products, are then discussed at a tutorial level.
