Devices such as fax machines, caller ID boxes, or phones that share the same phone line as your DSL account require a line filter, which prevents noise from disrupting the DSL signal on the phone line. Filters can be in the form of a stand-alone line filter or a wall-mount filter.
Stand-alone Line Filter
For each device that shares the DSL phone line:
1. Unplug the device’s cord from the phone jack.
2. Plug the filter into the phone jack.
3. Plug the phone cord (or other device cord) into the filter.
Wall-mount Filter
For a wall-mount phone, install a wall-mount filter.
1. Remove the phone.
2. Connect the wall-mount filter
to the wall plate.

Downloading MySQL
First, you need to go to the MySQL web site at www.mysql.com. find the downloads page, and locate the Windows installer download. Download this to your PC.

To do this, you should uninstall, using the Remove Programs option in the control panel. You should then restart your computer, and locate the mysql directory on the C drive, and delete it. It is stable, in that it can detect application failures and recover from them. It addresses both “managed code” (conformant to ASP.NET), as well as “unmanaged code” (“native code”) to include “legacy” applications. It is performant, because ASP.NET pages are compiled whereas ASP pages are interpreted. When an ASP.NET page is first requested, it is compiled and cached, or saved in memory, by the .NET Common Language Runtime (CLR). This cached copy can then be re- used for each subsequent request for the page. After the first request, the code can run from a much faster, compiled version, see Butler, Caudill [1] for details.

This tutorial, which also serves as a manual, provides instructions on how to use many of the tools, functions, and options available in ArcGIS and the Districting extension that will help the user create proposed plans for this project. However, because the tutorial was written in a relatively limited timeframe many functions and options of the software that may also be useful are not covered. Persons with more experience with GIS software in general and with ArcGIS in particular may be able to more easily learn and use these additional functions.
Please follow the tutorial carefully as missed steps or incorrect specifications or actions can cause errors and much frustration. Please expect that it will take several practices and some hours of work to become comfortably efficient with the software.

1. At the top of the screen, you should see toolbar resembling Figure 1.1. Click on the apple icon, then select System Preferences.
2. Next, select the icon for Network (located under the category Internet & Network) as detailed in Figure 1.2.
3. In the drop down area next to Show, click the area and choose Built-in Ethernet from the options given.
4. Click on the TCP/IP tab. Click on the button titled Configure IPv6. When a window is displayed (resembling the below image), click on the option Off then select OK.
5. Click on the TCP/IP tab. Make sure that the section marked Configure IPv4 is set to Use DHCP. If it isn't, choose that selection from the drop-down menu adjacent to that section.
