A number of new geospatial viewing tools from major players in the Internet industry have recently appeared on the scene and are taking the geospatial world by storm. Google,Yahoo, Microsoft, and Amazon have all released web-based mapping tools in the recent past, and collectively these new players to the industry have raised the bar for Internet mapping. Although their functional capabilities don’t provide anything we haven’t seen in web offerings from traditional GIS vendors, their emergence has been significant in that they have managed to capture a wider audience. Google, in particular, has emerged as the leader of this pack with it’s recently released Google Maps product which provides a slick, highly responsive visual interface built using AJAX technologies along with detailed street and aerial imagery data, and an open API allowing customization of the map output including the ability to add application specific data to the map.

Google Apps for Education: ePortfolio and Formative Assessment Workflow
Schools and universities can set up free Google Apps accounts with their own domain name, where they can give all student and faculty acces to a variety of tools, including a GMail account, iGoogle portal, Google Groups for collaboration, and Pages, for creating websites. Each user can also use their GMail account to activate other Google services, such as GoogleDocs. Students and teachers have email accounts, with more than 2 GB of storage per account. Gmail is the web-based or POP-mail account that is also the common ID for other Google applications.

Guide to Eos and Unity Computing, 2007-08 Edition for UNIX, Windows, and Linux is the principal user manual for the distributed academic computing environment at North Carolina State University. Formerly a College of Engineering system only, Eos was made available to other NCSU colleges in 1996 in a project called Unity. The Connector for Apple iSync supports Entourage only from Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac, version 11.2.3. This is the first version of Microsoft Office for Mac in which Entourage supports Mac Sync Services, the same service used by the iCal and Address Book applications for data synchronization.

1. From the bottom of the Clip Art task pane, choose Clip art on Office Online
2. Search for a topic in the top box on the right. Use the parameters in pull-down menu on the left to narrow your search. For example, to find only photos you can choose that type to return. You can click on a graphic to see it in a larger size.
3. When you find a graphic you want to save, you can view it in larger format by clicking on the graphic itself. To download the graphic, check the box at the bottom of the graphic.
