A good GUI can help no end. My favourite Windows-based GUI is called DBManager, and is available from www.dbtools.com.br. This tutorial assumes you have read and followed my two earlier tutorials, on installing Apache and PHP, and on installing MySQL.
Downloading DBManager
After finding the www.dbtools.com.br site, and selecting either Portuguese or English, you need to find the Download link. There is only a free version available at the moment, so follow that link. You will be asked for a few bits of personal information, before you get to the download page.
Installing DBManager
Just locate where you downloaded the file and double-click. It installs quickly. Just note that the database server must be installed before DBManager. It should also be noted that DBManager will control PostgreSQL as well as MySQL databases.

To add fuel to the already fast-paced momentum, the company just announced end of fiscal year 2007 revenues that were the strongest in the company’s history—a 22% jump from its respective 2006 results! The thread across all of Keynote’s announcements is its “loud and clear” support for measuring the responsiveness, reliability and customer experience of Web sites using Web 2.0 technologies from the end user perspective.
Specific products addressed in this brief include WebEffective 6.0, Application Perspective 5.0, and Transaction Perspective 8.0. WebEffective 6.0 includes capabilities for assessing user experience on Web 2.0 sites. The new versions of Keynote’s flagship on-demand services for testing and measuring the performance of Web sites Application Perspective 5.0 and Transaction Perspective 8.0 have been enhanced to allow for comprehensive testing and monitoring of AJAX-based and other Web 2.0 applications. Additionally, Keynote has introduced the Keynote Internet Testing Environment (KITE) that is designed to bridge the gap between Web developers and Web operations. KITE provides Web application developers with point and click access to a consistent testing and measurement platform for the entire application lifecycle using IE7.
Keynote Capitalizes on Web 2.0 Capabilities to Improve the Customer Experience
The proliferation of rich media content that characterizes Web 2.0 environments makes the Internet experience dazzling for customers. At the same time, it’s challenging for IT deployment and operations staff, who need to figureUSB Switch US-401 Users Manual GuideSupports both Open Host Controller Interface (OHCI) and Universal Host Controller Interface (UHCI) • Bus Powered - No External Power Supply Required • Electronic Circuit (Non-Mechanical) Switch For Reliability Directions For Use The US-401 provides four Type B USB ports for connecting the unit to the computers, and one Type A USB port for connecting the unit to the peripheral device (printer, scanner, modem, etc.).
To connect up the US-401 and select an active computer, do the following: 1. Plug the B Connector end of a USB cable into any available B (Upstream) port on the US-401; plug the A Connector end of the USB cable into the USB port on the computer. 2. Plug the B Connector end of a USB cable into the B (Upstream) port on the peripheral device; plug the A Connector end of a USB cable into the A (Downstream) port on the US-401. Note: When you first power up, the unit automatically links to Port1. If you want a computer attached to one of the other ports to be active, you must manually switch to it. 3. Press the electronic pushbutton switch, located on the top of the unit, to cycle among the connected computers to select the one you want to have access to the peripheral. A LED lights to indicate which port is selected. Important! The first time in a session that any of the computers connects to the USB device, the USB device driver for that computer automatically loads. The popular term attributed to these highly responsive and often collaborative sites is Web 2.0. Some prime examples of Web 2.0 are web sites such as Google Maps and Flickr. Google Maps offers a highly responsive user interface (UI). For instance, you can view a map, then move your cursor across it to see adjacent areas almost immediately. Flickr is a site on which users store and share photographs -- users manage almost all the site's content.
Other Web 2.0 sites provide a similarly rich user experience by doing things such as integrating services from other web sites or incorporating a steady stream of new information. For example, the Google map service can be brought into another web site, such as a site for purchasing cars, to present a map that highlights the location of auto dealerships that sell a particular car model. The term used for these site integrations is "mashups." Or a sports-oriented site can continually update scores without requiring the user to request a page update.
What is AJAX?
A number of excellent articles that describe AJAX are available, for example, Asynchronous JavaScript Technology and XML (AJAX) With Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition. In brief, AJAX is a set of technologies that together allows a web site to be -- or appear to be -- highly responsive. AJAX enables this becauseSecuring Web 2.0: are your web applications vulnerable? The definition of Web 2.0 is still being debated despite extensive discussion. Its staunchest advocates proclaim it a complete philosophical and technological reworking of how the web functions. Others declare that it is meaningless. However, most agree on common characteristics of a Web 2.0 application, such as increased interactivity, the acceptance of user input for building community and a reliance on client-side functionality. Additionally, Web 2.0 applications can be more vulnerable to exploitation by hackers than their predecessors. Hackers spend most of their time gathering information. When Web 2.0 applications push functionality and code to users, they provide hackers with information that can be used for formulating attacks. Often, old attacks such as cross-site scripting become more dangerous when used against Web 2.0 applications. This white paper defines some of the common technological components of Web 2.0 applications and discusses ways of securing them against exploitation.
Web 2.0 components
Web 2.0 uses the web for delivering information that is often created through community contribution. Wikis and blogs are good examples of these types of appli cations. The main attribute of a Web 2.0 application is interactivity. More functionality is on the client, and less is on the server. As a result, requests are updated in the browser without refreshing the entire page. For example, consider Google Maps. Instead of a static page, you can drill down or zoom in and out of a map without making requests for a new page. You can use several key technologies—or more appropriately, groupings of differentVirtools Dev User Guide ManualVirtools Dev is an extensive collection of technologies for 3D visualization. The Virtools Dev technologies are broadly grouped as:
1. an Authoring application
2. a Behavioral Engine (CK2)
3. a Rendering Engine
4. a Web Player
5. a Software Development Kit (SDK)
An Authoring Application Virtools Dev is an authoring application that allows you to quickly and easily create compositions (CMOs) full of rich, interactive, 3D content. Industry stan- dard media such as models, animations, images and sounds are brought to life by Virtools’ behavior technologies. You cannot create models in Virtools Dev; Virtools Dev is not a modeling application. However, simple elements such as Cameras, Lights, Curves, inter- face elements, and 3D Frames (called dummies or helpers in most 3D model- ing applications) can be created with the click of an icon.
