  • AMBIENT OCCLUSION IN MAYA8 and PHOTOSHOP
  • This tutorial covers the basics of how to setup and bake ambient occlusion maps in Maya8. The process is similar for previous versions of Maya only the menu names will be different. As with most things in Maya there are probably many different ways to do this but this method works well for me and is reasonably quick to setup. 1. SETTING UP THE SHADER NETWORK - First open the hypershade window and from the Maya nodes list MMB drag a Surface Shader node into the work area - Now click on the "Create Maya Nodes" button at the top of the nodes list and change it to MentalRay nodes. - Then under the textures tab MMB drag an 'mib_amb_occlusion' node onto the work area - Now connect the 'OutValue' of the Occlusion node to the 'OutColor' of the surface shader. This is the default connection between these 2 nodes so you can do this by simply holding down Ctrl and MMB dragging the occlusion node over the shader node. 2. SETTING UP YOUR SCENE - In order to get good results from Ambient Occlusion the scene environment must be white. To do this open the Outliner window and select the Persp camera. In the attribute editor under the Environment tab slide the Background Color to 100% white - Now open the Render Globals window and select MentalRay as your renderer and Production as the quality preset. Now change the multi-pixel filter to "Lanczos". (this will automatically change your Quality preset to 'Custom' like in the picture) Download pdf
  • DRAWING WITH AUTOCAD 2000 - INTRODUCTION
  • This is the first of a series of tutorial introductions to CAD. The overriding aim with these tutorial guides is to give you a firm conceptual understanding of CAD, the scope of techniques available for design and presentation, and strategies for approaching a variety of CAD tasks. In this first tutorial, we will go through the process of starting up AutoCAD on the computer and then look at some of the basic drawing and editing commands. In the next tutorial, we will begin the process of drawing something very simple in order to learn how to attack a drawing task with this system. These tutorials are deliberately verbose, explaining concepts and ideas as you along. It is important, therefore, that you take the time to read and understand those explanations. These tutorials are written for AutoCAD 2000 running under the Windows 95/98 operating environment. Some of the later tutorials make use of enhancement packages that are sold in conjunction with AutoCAD to address specific disciplinary CAD modelling tasks. • Autocad Isometric Drawing
  • Isometric drawing is essential to the engineering filed. Through the isometric drawing, it is easier to imagine how a part or a drawing would look like. Some isometric drawing has no details such as dimension and annotation. This type of isometric drawing is usually accompanied by orthographic drawings with complete detail and annotation. I. Setting up AutoCAD for isometric drawing. 1. Open the drafting settings window and select the snap and grid tab. Go to tools from the main menu and select drafting settings from the drop down menu 2. In the snap type & style section, select isometric snap. 3. Select the polar tracking tab 4. Enable polar tracking by clicking the white square just beside the polar tracking on. Set the increment angle to 30 degrees 5. Click the OK button. This will change the crosshair to an isometric mode. This is very useful for creating isometric circles. 6. Press F5 from the keyboard several times and observe the cursor. F5 will allow the cursor to change orientation from top to front and then to side. II. Creating isometric lines. Isometric lines are simply lines that are inclined at a 30 degree angle. You can use the length angle method to create isometric lines. However, using this method will make the designing process difficult since you have to type the length and then angle every time you need to create isometric lines. • A + CAL User’s Manual P-Syntax Version
  • This is an instruction manual for Version 1.1 of the p-syntax version of the + cal algorithm language. The following section, on page 3, explains the difference between this syntax and the alternative c-syntax. Section 1 explains what an algorithm language is and why you’d want to use one. Section 2 tells you what you need to know to get started using + cal. After reading it, you’ll be able to write and check + cal algorithms. You can read the other parts of this manual as you need them. The table of contents and the index can help you find what you need. Pages 68–70 at the end, just before the index, contain a series of tables that summarize a lot of useful information. The rest of the manual is arranged in the order you’re likely to want to look at it: • Section 3 describes the things you’ll find in most programming language manuals, like the statements of the language. Once you’ve started writing + cal algorithms, you should browse this chapter to learn about features of + cal not mentioned in Section 2. • We run programs, but we check algorithms. Section 2 gets you started using the translator and TLC model checker to check + cal algorithms. Section 4 tells you more about the translator and TLC. It’s mostly about TLC, describing some of its additional features and how to use it to debug an algorithm. You should go to Section 4 if you don’t understand what the translator or

  • Skype Guide for Network Administrators Manual
  • The Skype software and services provide individuals with a new, secure and innovative way to communicate with other people using the Internet as the medium of transport for messages, whether they are voice calls, text messages or other forms of communication. Skype is the world decentralized telephony network, but it provides far more services than just voice calling that carried over the public Internet. By using a compact client program, which is available in versions for several popular computer platforms,a Skype user is able to send or receive text messages, hold voice calls and exchange data files with other persons. Communications with other online Skype users are provided free of charge, while certain premium services, such as the placing of voice calls to standard telephone numbers, are available for a modest fee. Skype communications rely largely on peer-to-peer communications techniques in order to improve the quality of voice calls and to reduce the latency of data transfers between users. The term peer-to-peer, frequently written as P2P, is a class of software applications that rely on resources located at the network edge, such as the large number of individual personal computers that are always connected to the Internet, rather than relying on large and costly centralized computer servers. It is this aspect of Skype networking that makes it incredibly robust and tolerant of network failures:Skype has no single critical node upon which the service relies for its operation. Description of Skype services The utility of Skype services are found in the voice calling.. Download Skype Guide for Network Administrators Manual
